sorry justmee stupid though re. posting, can you use the 4.00 twice? I really hope you can get someone to help you.

mummyabroad · 14/02/2011 19:47

coconuts you have my total sympathy, I have suffered from that before, its really not nice, as much as you probably want "symptoms" I am sure you dont want to feel that rough

justme this might sound weird but I have had to do it before, why not sit down with your telephone book and phone everyone you know in Turkey and ask if they happen to know someone who has contacts in the depo/hospital and can help? Are turkish people generally helpful and friendly, its very "who-you-know" over here but also people like to help out someone in need. I am sure if you explained the circumstances you will get lots of sympathy. Can you call the depo direct by the way? and ask them how you get an emergency order?

milkyway2007 · 14/02/2011 21:55

iggi thanks for the info! I messaged you!

lucky I sympathise with you about the age comments aswell :(

coconuts Hope you feel better with the meds :(

justmee I feel so sorry for you - you must be going out of your mind - wish I could help...I found this website that I think do international prescriptions - you could call the number and ask if they cover Turkey too? I know you need it desperately though :(

Hi to everyone Grin

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 15/02/2011 09:12

Morning all,

My appointment is at 11.20 so hopefully the meds work and she doesn't admit me to hospital. I am feeling worse and worse everyday. Feel weak and shaky, constantly hungry and thirsty although the nausea makes me not fancy any food or drink. It's grim.

justme Really hope you can get the 4.0 today. The Turkish healthcare system is shocking and you have my sympathies.

lucky mummy milky thanks for your sympathies, hugs are much needed right now :(

LAF77 · 15/02/2011 16:51

hello again, I've been a way for a couple of weeks. There has been so much going on here.

Hope that just mee and coconuts are feeling better today.

I had an appointment with the consultant at the local hospital today. I was kept waiting for an hour, but she has agreed to refer me to St Mary's without any delay. One small victory for me. So many hurdles to go. I would expect to be seen at STM is by the end of March, I think. So my time frame of being able to TTC again in June is probably right.

She told me that there was nothing to be found in the karyotyping of the tissues I brought in. They were more me, than our baby. I didn't really expect anything to come of it. I feel badly that I am more likely to be the cause of our babies dying then anything wrong with them.

She explained to me things I already knew, that 10 women in 100 will have a miscarriage and 1 in 100 will be recurrent miscarriers. Lucky me. She said that half of these women will never have a diagnosis for the cause either.

It was really hard going to the hospital today. I thought that the clinic was in the same ward as the EPU and I had to physically brace myself walking into the EPU. I don't know if I can ever go back there again. Fortunately it wasn't there and I had to wait somewhere else.

I had a blood sample and had bloods taken at the same time as a young pregnant mother with her toddler and she was chatting away with the nurse that she was going to have a boy and it was nice to have one of each. Meanwhile, the nurse said to me that it was unusual do these sorts of tests for chromosomes, that it was more common to test for Downs. 1 in 100, me.

I've been reading about Zen philosophy on my holiday and the process of emptying your mind and I found it quite helpful to try and stop obsessing about the miscarriages. I'm not a total success with it. I need to have a plan as to how things might go so I can mentally prepare myself for it which is not Zen. I'm content with knowing that the summer is the likely time for TTC again. I set small mental goals so to protect myself from total meltdown like I might have had when giving blood. I am going to focus on shifting a few pounds before I start TTC as I put on all of the weight I lost earlier.

Hope all is well with everyone else.

mummyabroad · 15/02/2011 19:36

LAF horray!! I am so so pleased you got your referral, and that you didnt have to go totally beserk to get it! I can totally understand that its already bringing up lots of emotions about how you feel about finding/not finding something, I know that is very hard, but you are now pointing in the right direction and on the road to getting real answers and real treatment plan in place. Sorry you had to go through those first steps next a chirpy pregnant lady Confused that really wont help at all! I hope the next step gives you lots more encouragement. Take care xxx

luckyfor2 · 15/02/2011 19:51

Hi everyone

Justme how did you get on?

Coconuts hope everything went okay at your appointment.

LAF77 hope you had a nice relaxing holiday with lots of pampering. Really glad you got the referral to St Marys, I know the wait is painful but at least now you have something to focus on. I do the same with the mental goals otherwise you can go crazy. The statistics are crap! Like as if that's supposed to make us 1 in 100s feel better. I don't know much about Zen philosophy but maybe its worth reading up on...anything to get us through the torment!

In case anyone is interested re. NK Cells.
I had a conversation with Prof. Quenby's research assistant today. She has no funding to do NK cell testing at the moment but they're hoping funding will come through very soon (within next few months). She has agreed to see us (with referral from GP) and advise (and if she feels necessary prescribe) on our circumstances but until the funding comes through she wouldn't be able to do a biopsy to check for the nk cells. She will not see anyone privately as she believes that every women should be entitled to the same care. Quenby did a trial of 700 women who had had recurrent miscarriages without cause. Half were given prednisolone (steroid to decrease nk cells) and half a placebo (fake pill). The results to this trial are being collated and will be released soon. I'm sure most of you have already looked into this but I've attached some links that are quiet interesting though abit old.

laf nice to see you back. Very happy to hear you got your referal. Hope it comes through quickly. Completely understand the setting of goals for yourself. I did the same, it defo helps.

lucky I almost took part in that trial, lots of discussions but at the time dr quemby was moving clinics I think and everything was a bit mad for them. Will be very interested to see the final result.

sorry cant do personals, was hoping to have a bit of peace ane quiet but Eliza has other ideas! Will try again tomorrow.

Coconutfeet · 15/02/2011 21:09

Coconuts - I hope you're feeling better now. When I was on the ward for the ERPC there was a woman with hyperemesis and it was so dreadful for her. You have my sympathies.

Justme - Did you have better luck today?

I've been on the phone to the hospital to find out when my appt for the miscarriage clinic was going to be as I wanted to ask them a few questions. I was really upset to discover that, despite it being written on my discharge form and the fact that my SRPC was 2 weeks ago, no-one had done the referral and I seem to have slipped through the system. Someone was supposed to call me back and no-one has. I don't feel very good about it at all. I've decided to go to my GP, explain all this and ask for a referral to St Mary's. Do you think she will be able to do this (I live in London, so it's reasonably local)? My GP appt isn't till 5th March, so I feel like so much time has been lost already. I'm 43 so don't feel like I can hang around.

Sorry for not sending more personals but this thread moves so fast, I can't keep up. Hope everyone's OK though!

banana87 · 15/02/2011 21:41

AF arrived :)

I am now "officially" TTC :) Only I can't help but be convinced the next one will mc too. Psychic or paranoid?

Sorry for me me me, a bit drunk (oops) so will catch up tomorrow.

confu3ed · 15/02/2011 22:19

Hairy - I am so sorry.

Wow been away for a few days and loads to catch up on!

Hello to everyone, will catch up properly tomorrow.

Had my appointment today at rm clinic, only it wasn't, just another referral! Been told that the clinic will see me despite the fact that I have only had 2 rmc as I have had 3 in total and am now 35. The doctor spoke little English and didnt explain anything other than to say that they will do tests, one of which we have to travel to a specialist hospital to get. No idea what they are at all. He also told us not to take Clomid until we have tried without it for 3 months. Stupid I reckon as I ovulate on Clomid and my results without it were poor. I am so bloody confused!!! I guess we should take a break from TTC until we get the tests and the results, but now worried that if we do try again it will not happen as I am not on Clomid! ahhhhhhhhhhh frustrated.com!!!

sorry as all about me, just cross and not enough time to catch up properly now!

mummyabroad · 15/02/2011 22:21

thought I would dig out the list so people can update if they want. Hairy I didnt know if you wanted to move back to "Testing" or not, so I'll let you add yourself in. Hope you are OK xxx

Ladies, I am so sorry for all I've missed. Work has gone completely bonkers and I've barely touched the ground the past few days. I know I've missed some very important appts, so I just wanted to send a big hug to those of you who need one right now and I'll try to be here a bit more when things calm down a smidge. Love to you all.

Iggi2011 · 15/02/2011 22:52

Luckyfor2 thanks for that NK cells info, very useful. I'm very confused trying to work out if I've had first period since ERPC or not (one gush of blood only, sorry tmi) and my charting made it look like I ovulated last Thurs but the OPK didn't come up positive till yesterday (mon). And went away without DH for a few days to see family on Sunday so I have blown this month's chances..
Does anyone else feel it can be a relief when you are not pg, as the thought of another loss is just so terrible? I never felt this way before, was always a bit more hopeful than not.
Sorry, late night waffling.

iggi I had one gush one day and then nothing and then one gush the day after and it wasn't until two days after that it finally came now its really heavy so maybe its on its way? I'm so scared about ttc incase I have another mc. I've also been hopeful up to now and trusted the doctors "Bad Luck" theory but feel theres nothing else I can do now, which is why I'm looking into the NK cells, its just testing takes so long so not sure whether to risk ttc this month - so scared.

Iggi2011 · 15/02/2011 23:25

Sorry you're feeling that too. We set ourselves a limited amount of time to keep trying so don't feel can wait for test results - you're a lot younger than me so perhaps you could give yourself a break for a bit, if that's what you want.

mummy sorry if you have already said but did you get a reply from the doctor yet?

jollster did you get the book?

mummyabroad · 16/02/2011 15:06

hi mumatron no I didnt get a reply yet. I wrote to him again yesterday but still nothing. I think he might be on holiday or something because in the past he has been lightening quick to respond. I am feeling less of a sense of urgency this time to know what he says because we are TTC anyway, so its not like I am waiting for his opinion before making a decision. I am 5DP at the moment, so as long as I get some info in time for next month (if needed!) that will be OK. Hope you and the family are doing OK? xxx

SameOldJollster · 16/02/2011 16:21

mumatron - so remiss of me, sorry I thought I'd said. Yes it arrived the very next day; have started, but am also working through a `speech therapy book for DS, and feeling guilty that I should be prioritising the child I do have rather than the ones I may never hold IYSWIM. But many thanks again - you're v v v kind x
