justmee what an awful experience, I hope you're OK today.

lovemysleep just wanted to say good luck for your scan tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you.

Hello to everyone else.

milkyway2007 · 17/02/2011 23:47

Hope you're okay after the drama justmee

Good luck with the scan lovemysleep, hope everything goes perfectly xx

It's been 2 weeks since mc :( Reading Lesley Regan's book when I get a few spare mins - in one part she talks about how if you miscarry an embryonic pregnancy, then it is not a hormonal issue but something has attacked the baby or stopped it from developing. I am sure my first and third mc's were anembryonic, but the two MMC's I had there was definitely a heart beat. The first MMC, baby had passed away at 7 weeks, so there must have been a heart beat.

Can I ask anyone who has had tests done on tissues from miscarriage, whether they can find out if it was a blood clotting problem or other problem in the mother? No one from the hospital has actually told me what they test for or when I will get results.

Goodnight all xx

mummyabroad · 18/02/2011 00:32

Justme thats just such an awful story, how are you now?

milky I believe but cant say with a whole lot of certainty that they just look at the genetic sequence of the tissue they find. I had tissues analysed after an ERPC (three months after mmc) but they were only looking for once specific problem - to see if they were molar (containing 3 sets of chromosones instead of 2) I dont see how they would be able to tell anything about blood clotting issues, but presumably if they successfully extract the embryonic cells they can test for lots of different things. I had amniocentisis with DS and they told me it tests for over 300 different types of chromosonal abnormalities. Its certainly a good question to ask when you get the results (what exactly did they test for?)

In my case, they didnt find any molar type cells, and I now know that the placenta could not attach properly and get a good blood supply from the uterine wall because of the presence of scar tissue, this caused the developing embryo to die.

I would say that the longer it takes you to get those results, probably the more tests they are running. Amniocentisis took weeks to come back, apparently they have to grow cell cultures before they can analyse them so it does take a long time.

I hope you do get some answers from it all. xxx

justmee · 18/02/2011 06:56

Thinking of you justmee. Hopefully everything will be ok.xx

I have leaking nipples 3 weeks post ERPC, is that even possible, sore boobs again. I was only 5.5 weeks pg so I don't get what is going on. The doc said I need blood tests to check hormone levels but I can't have them till next week and the results will be the week after. When is this going to end?

milkyway2007 · 18/02/2011 22:35

confu3ed I have this same problem. I was so scared as it felt like my milk was coming in after I had my daughter. I am having blood tests done to check my prolactin level next week as it was high 6 months ago after my third mc, so I could have a problem there. I haven't experienced this with any of my other miscarriages.
Have you breast fed in the past? Don't touch them, and wear a tight sports bra so that they don't get stimulated in any way.
Mine aren't leaking by themselves - but they have grown a size or two - its been a week now, still not subsiding. The only thing I can think of that is causing this is the raised prolactin.
That's good your doctor has ordered blood tests - let me know how it goes - will be interesting to compare results Grin

confu3ed · 18/02/2011 22:50

Hi milky thank you for the advice and good to know that this is not unheard of. What does a high prolactin level mean? I know it's not usual after a miscarriage especially an early one? What was said to you after your last mc?
This has not happened to me with either of my other mcs either?! And yes I did breast feed my dd but only for 4 weeks and that was 11 years ago.
Mine sound the same as yours , not leaking by themselves but swollen and I am aware of them being sore.

I hope the tests indicate what the problem is as I am sick of being told everything is fine when I know it's not.

Are you having tests this time to? Yes will be good to compare tests with you, and thank you so much for the response it is very reassuring to know I am not alone. But at the same time so sorry that you are going through this too x

confu3ed · 18/02/2011 22:52

Sorry misread your post as on iPhone and can't scroll very easily! I see that you too are having tests next week damn iPhone too small to use for posting! X

mattsmama · 18/02/2011 23:02

Hello everyone -I hope nobody minds me coming on here and I hope I'm I'm not "gatecrashing".

I just wondered if anyone has been in a similar position to me and if they could offer any advice.

I have just been for my second appointment with Mr Shehata who has told me I have high killer cells (1.67) and also high thyroid antibodies (597). I am hypothyroid and take 100 mcg of levothyroxine daily. I also have osteopaenia in my hips for which I take calcichew D3. I have had 2 miscarriages - both at 12 weeks and DS who is 4. I had 2 chemical pregnancies at the end of last year also. Mr Shehata has put me on the killer cell treatment programme and I now have my prescription for the steroids etc. Is anyone else in similar position. My mind is boggling at the moment Confused. I am pleased to have an answer and a reason for the miscarriages etc but I am now very nervous!

Any info would be very welcome! Thanks Smile

hairylights · 19/02/2011 10:50

justme big hug from me.

I have my appointment on 29th march. I hope they start testing then and it's not another "consultation" meeting

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 19/02/2011 12:36

Hi everyone. Have been away from here for a few days so not going to be able to manage a catch up. Was admitted to hospital via ambulance on blues on Thursday afternoon with severe cramping. Suspected ectopic although a scan yesterday ruled that out. Baby is in the right place and measuring 7+3 (so my dates are spot on) Was put on a drip for dehydration after discovering billirubin and ketones in my urine. No cause for the pain found so was discharged yesterday. Feel very weak still and still not much appetite but trying to force myself to eat and drink as much as I can.

Hope everyone else is ok.

ClaireDeLoon · 19/02/2011 16:33

Lovelybunch what a worrying time. Hope you start to feel better soon. Hugs.

milkyway2007 · 19/02/2011 21:29

coconuts Glad the baby is in the right place and healthy. Hope you are feeling better now - take plenty of rest and take care x

mattsmama Hope you are getting the info you need in the other thread. It must be a good feeling to find a possible cause to the mc's.

confu3ed lol - it's okay - I had never heard of this until it happened to me last week. I bf'd my daughter for 1 year, and a week after stopping I never leaked again - so this is very strange to me.
Prolactin levels are normally high in breastfeeding women and it can stop ovulation which is why some bf-ing women dont get periods. Essentially, high prolactin can mean an underactive thyroid - but it may not always be the case. An underactive thyroid can introduce a whole host of problems, including infertility. I know I hate being told everything is fine too - I can't believe everything is fine after 4 :( Will definitely compare results!

Could someone please give me some advice - I took a HPT today and it is still coming up positive. It's been over 2 weeks since my medical management and I have been spotting for 2 weeks now. I didn't bleed heavily after I passed everything, and now I am worried I have retained products. I also took a first response test (I got buy one get one free last december :()so thinking it's too accurate?
I thought I was ovulating these few days - have the symptoms - but am scared now. Anyone else have a positive HPT 2 weeks after a mc?

Iggi2011 · 19/02/2011 23:10

Hi Milkway, just wanted to say I had a positive test around 2 weeks after my ERPC. It was very faint, but def there. I did one at 3.5 and it was negative. I didn't have spotting after the bleeding stopped.
Looking back I too thought I was heading for ovulation at that time (EWCM!) but I wasn't testing/temping so not sure what was going on.

Coconuts hope you are ok.

It's been 2 and a half weeks since my blood tests were done, surely I should have had some results by now? (ever hopeful)

mattsmama · 19/02/2011 23:17

Milkyway2007 - yes - thank you. Really appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. thanks again xx

mummyabroad · 20/02/2011 02:56

coconuts OMG what a shock for you! I hope you are OK? Are the planning to give you another reassurance scan or monitor you further?

mattsmama Hi, welcome to the thread, I am afraid I dont know much about killer cells, but I believe there are two (pregnant) ladies on this thread who do, PrettyVacant and Pink (she changes her name a lot but its always got pink in it) I've asked them if they have any info to share with you.
I'll repost our stats list in a mo, so you can see who is at what stage of testing, feel free to copy and paste and add yourself in.

Milky Having been on the JustMCandTTCagain thread for 7 months, I know A LOT of ladies who have had positive tests for longer than two weeks and been just fine. Having said that I got a positive 3 months after my mmc and DID have retained tissues, so it is something to monitor closely (obviously if you have smelly discharge, pain or fever go STRAIGHT to a doctor for antibiotics ASAP) Why not get some cheap tests from Amazon (25 for £5) and test everyday until you get your BFN? You should see the line getting feinter if the HCG is dropping. How long it takes to get a BFN usually depends on how advanced the pregnancy was.

Julez sorry to hear about the colic and c-section pain, not a good combination at all. I do hope both problems ease soon. xxx

Not much to report my end 8DPO and starting to symptom spot already, and just generally wishing the days away until test day.
