Well, absolutely and, as I said, I still only feel 16. Do you think a time comes when you suddenly feel "Hey, yes, I am. I'm a grown up."???

Lonelymum · 01/05/2005 20:49

Don't want to be morbid, but I think I once heard that no-one fully grows up until their parents die. I certainly feel I will always be a child whilst my parents are alive.

emmatom · 01/05/2005 20:56

Hi all, just nipped in but William and Mary is on soon. In fact it's on now, where does the flippin' time go when you're on this thing?!!!!!!!!!

Laurang63 · 01/05/2005 21:08

Hi there, Lonelymum I'm not sure about that. My parents died 4 years ago . Still feel and act like a child

Really sorry about your parents Laurang63, it must be really hard .

I know what you all mean though. My ds age 10 said when I hit 40, Mum that sounds really old, but you don't act like how I would think someone to be 40 would. Thats good I think. I honestly don't feel any different in my outlook to in my early twenties. In fact its probably better now because I am more contented, luckily have no money worries and I know a lot more . I still live life to the full, I just get worse hangovers now.

motherofboys · 02/05/2005 10:28

Just found this thread - counting down the last 6 days of my 30s so thought I could talk to you all now!! Got 3 - DS1 - 9 DS2 - 7 DS3 - 4

Prettybird · 02/05/2005 10:45

I'm 44, with a ds aged 4.5 and would still ike another one (but time is running out )

So Potty1 - you are not the oldest runer on the Runners' Support thread!

Potty1 · 02/05/2005 10:51

Prettybird - no, not the oldest, just the slowest - I'm not built for speed lol!

Motherofboys - life begins at 40.......so they say!

emmatom · 02/05/2005 11:11

I agree with Goldfish down there about same outlook but things are better now.

No way would I want to go back to the insecurities of your 20s, always wanting to please others and make them like you. Climbing up the career ladder too.

Feel content now and stronger.

Misspiggy · 02/05/2005 17:05

Hi everyone, what a great thread...mind if I join in?! I'm a 1964er so the 80's were my era and Laura, you're definitely right, they were great for music. Has anyone been to any of the Here and Now concerts? My DH surprised me with tickets to the Xmas one at Wembley the year before last. ABC, Heaven 17, Curiosity Killed the Cat, T'Pau, Paul Young, Five Star (well, 3/5 of them anyway!! ) and Kim Wilde who was brilliant - I was in 80's "big hair, blue mascara, rara skirt" heaven and my lovely DH sat through it cringing at every song as he's a 70's Sex Pistols / Pink Floyd person. Best night I've had for ages!

emmatom · 02/05/2005 17:24

Brill music wasn't it!!! Down the disco every Saturday night I was.

Anyone remember 'Zoom, just one look and then my heart went boom' , can't remember who sang it, but that was the slow one at the end for ages.

Sunday tea times always had Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks wrestling on the TV.

Potty1 · 02/05/2005 18:13

Taping the Top 20 (as it was then) from the radio.

Emmatom - Fat Larry's Band?

Starting to sound like Peter Kay now

Potty1 · 02/05/2005 18:22

The Commodores did it too I think.

Misspiggy · 02/05/2005 18:44

Potty, God, I'd forgotten about that taping business! You had to be really quick to click "Stop" on your tape recorder before the DJ butted in with some stupid comment, didn't you? True by Spandau Ballet (((sigh))) has been ruined for me by Gary Davis blurting out "ooh , they're so smooth" just before I managed to cut him off during one of my illegal taping sessions. Every time they come on the radio now I hear Gary's voice....scarred for life, I am!

emmatom · 02/05/2005 20:44

Fat Larry's Band!! Thank you for that.

Shalamar with 'There it is' and Gloria's 'I will survive.'

How about the original 'Adams Family' on a Sunday morning.

Goldfish · 02/05/2005 20:52

Noel Edmunds Swap shop, Magpie, Crackerjack, Grange Hill, aah those were the days.
Jackie magazine, Blue Jeans and Pink. One week I got my photo in Pink magazine and I was called Pinky of the week

noma · 02/05/2005 20:53

emmatom · 03/05/2005 14:14

Jackie Magazine!! I used to have that delivered and would live for the day it plopped through the letterbox.

Do you remember Leslie Ash used to be a fresh faced young model in the mag in those days. I've kept all my annuals from the 70's, Jackie, My Guy etc.

Angelpants, do you qualify for this?!!! Methinks not, (and I only just scrape in before you start the insults!!).

Perhaps you could be an honourary member? If you answer these questions, you're in...

  1. What year was the long hot drought summer?

  2. What was the name of the dance Torvill and Dean danced to at the Olympics? (Where they won gold)

  3. Do you remember when Rolf Harris advertised the stylophone?
