You may think you are the only one Mumsnetting in the North East but you are not. Come on and meet foxytocin and a few other lovely mumsnetters. Sign up quick so you can help decide where and when.

Indith, SPB, BT, Lackadaisy... I am baaa-ack.

Lucky you! Mine was asleep 5 mins up the road. Still had an hour when we got in though .
Good to see you all.

juneybean · 10/08/2009 22:56

It was very nice to meet you all, will have to do it again soon! :D

spiggy · 11/08/2009 11:39

Mine waited til we were 5 minutes from home before falling asleep I suppose I should be grateful really- usually they take it in turns to have naps, am convinced they collude to deprive me of any free time

Would love to do it again soon. So would DS- he has just announced that we are going back today. Somehow think he will be less than impressed when he realises that today is actually going to be spent cleaning the house ready for moving out on Friday

LissyGlitter · 12/08/2009 14:48

It was lovely to meet you all, we will have to do it again soon!

juneybean · 23/09/2009 18:22

I'm thinking we should have a christmas meet up for just us adults?

But before then it'd be nice to fit in a day time meet up also

spiggy · 24/09/2009 15:52

sounds good, will help to take my mind off building work- every time we do one job in our new house we find 3 more to do!

juneybean · 28/09/2009 14:16

Argh oh no, but did the move go well? :D

Indith · 28/09/2009 14:35

Did someone say meetup?

Christmas grown up one sounds good, as does one with dcs.

how are you? I need to drag my sorry self back to the December thread at some point. How is the house apart from needing work? We've been lucky so far, just a few bits to replace on the solid fuel burner and a broken window (my fault!). So many jobs to do though, I need to make a big list of house stuff and prioritise things so we actually get stuff done, we seem to have stagnated at the "one box left of bits and bobs nobody can be bothered to find homes for " stage.

juneybean · 28/09/2009 18:09

What are peoples favourite restaurants?

Indith · 28/09/2009 18:52

The Gourmet Spot Not quite meetup style though I swear when dd finally sleeps dh is taking me in celebration!

I'm pretty useless otherwise though, mostly just dim student memories! Still like Shaheens though and La Tasca is alright. Outside of Durham I have no idea.

spiggy · 28/09/2009 19:57

I haven't been back on Dec thread for ages either I just never seem to get more than 5 mins on computer so can't catch up. My DD still thinks 5:30 is getting up time while DS is usually up at least once a night so am sleep deprived as well!

move was fine but am sick to the back teeth with bloody electricians. 11 days they said the re-wiring would take. Its now been 6 weeks. The house is full of dust, half the lights don't work and we only have 2 habitable bedrooms so DD been sleeping with us. AAAAAARRRRGGGGHHH! apart from that its great

restaurants- don't know many outside Newcastle. Fave there is Pani's cafe. It is a relatively cheap but tasty Italian. Orangegrass in South Shields is a lovely Thai but massively inconvenient to get to. am happy to take anyone elses recommendation. I'll eat pretty much anything!

Indith · 01/10/2009 17:42

6 weeks? I would be insane. Have just added to our moving expenses, there are plans to get the access road re-surfaced. It needs it but arrrrrrgh!

Anyone else about to offer suggestions?

Does anyone want to do another softplay meet at half term?

juneybean · 01/10/2009 19:57

When's half term?

Indith · 02/10/2009 17:36

26th October

BettySwollux · 02/10/2009 21:24

Hi all, I can do half term meet up but not wed 28th.

Has anyone been to Fat Buddha restaraunt in Durham?
Yumnumnum, tis ver tasty.

juneybean · 03/10/2009 01:04

Ooo I'm going there tomorrow for my friends 30th hehe

Not sure if I can do the week of the 26th

Indith · 04/10/2009 19:10

Oooh not been there.

Come on folks, think some bumping needs to be done to lure the rest of us!

Indith · 04/10/2009 21:10

bump

juneybean · 05/10/2009 02:54

It was very nice the meal! Very tasty indeed!

spiggy · 05/10/2009 13:42

Just hopping on quickly at work (shhhhh don't tell!)

27th Oct (Tues) would be best for me as it is my non-working day.

I could do the 26th (Mon) if DP will swap days.

Indith · 05/10/2009 18:56

Spiggy you naughty girl.

It is likely that I will be carless again by then (though I suppose I should be pleased that dh is recovering well enough to be able to drive again) so shall have to be pretty easy to get to since we shall most definitely not all fit in SPB's car these days!

Indith · 10/10/2009 16:08

hellooooooooooooooo

spiggy · 12/10/2009 21:08

I'm here! Anyone got any suggestions for public transport accessible meeting places? I don't really know Durham so can't suggest anything.

Is the week of the 26th ok for everyone?

Indith · 13/10/2009 11:49

Well I can def do something. Shall dig out the clever cloggs guide later and see what ideas it has.

Indith · 18/10/2009 21:02

Right, the Holy Bible ( aka Clever Clogs Guide) suggest the following things in the Days Out section which sound fun and small tearaway suitable:

Beamish (I have actually never been though I am sure the rest of you have!)

Discovery Museum in Newcastle- I have been with ds and it is great fun for little ones, it is also free

Various farms

Tynemouth Aquarium

Tanfield Railway (but we ould have to go at the weekend as trains don't run during the week)

Of course there are always the usual array of softplays too.

Any takers for half term? Am going to attempt to keep this bumped and find everyone again!
