You may think you are the only one Mumsnetting in the North East but you are not. Come on and meet foxytocin and a few other lovely mumsnetters. Sign up quick so you can help decide where and when.

Indith, SPB, BT, Lackadaisy... I am baaa-ack.

um - just dropping in to say hello because I also live in Durham... and weirdly enough dd1 is in the Discovery museum right now (with school).

Would have liked to have met up, but am taking dd1 away for HT (with holiday clubs being pricey, we seem to end up taking her on lots of holidays - dp and I in rotation)!

Indith · 22/10/2009 14:12

Hello slf

Indith · 22/10/2009 17:45

Well I'm going anyway

LissyGlitter · 22/10/2009 19:35

Sorry, I can't make it, we have someone coming to do our cavity wall and loft installation that day. DP works for an agency though, so it is possible that he will have a day off that day and will be able to stay in for the builders, but not sure. Plus I'm not currently in any state for even going to the corner shop if at all avoidable (REALLY bad back), and of course I may be busy having a baby!

So, I will probably not be able to come, but keep me updated, just in case DP has a day off, my back isn't feeling too bad and the baby doesn't get born! :D

Hi, it was me before, I forgot to change back from trying new name .

Think I can make it, will let you know for sure soon.

stickylittlefingers · 23/10/2009 09:04

hello just read back a bit. If anyone does want to do an xmas meet up I'd be on for that (Indith I live v close to G-spot but have never actually been there... the reviews seem to range from stupendous to inedible depending on who's chef at the time, so it put me off a bit. This is not saying that I'm not willing to experiment tho!)

Indith · 23/10/2009 13:59

Do you slf? Now I'm going to be wondering if I know you from somewhere I was on Crossgate when I had ds, then up Gilesgate.

Would be good if Christmas happened, little bf babies can always come along and snooze/be cooed over.

stickylittlefingers · 23/10/2009 16:12

how intriguing! At least you'd think we must have passed pushchairs... I've been living in Nevilles Cross for just over three years now - with dp and my two dds.

I agree re Christmas

Laugs · 23/10/2009 16:40

Hello! I've just seen this. I can't make it this time as I'm away next week, but would like to join you in the future if that's ok.

I live in Gateshead with DH, DD (3 next week) and baby-to-be (due end November).

Indith · 23/10/2009 17:20

Hi Laugs

slf are your dds in Rainbows/Brownies/Guides?

spiggy · 24/10/2009 08:46

Hi everyone,

sorry I've been awol, DS has been poorly and MN time been severely affected! My days have been changed at work that week so I have to work Tues. Can make Mon if we could swap. If not I would def like a kid free meet for christmas.

Oh bum...sounds like DD is playing Godzilla while DS is trying to build is train tracks, better go and act as mediator. Hello newbies and Lissy- hang on for the 22nd Nov its a great day to have a birthday (although I may be biased on that!)

Indith · 25/10/2009 18:14

Poor ds Spiggy, and rats to changed work days! Have already arranged to meet a couple of people on Tues (plus I now need to spend tomorrow attempting to get someone to ocme sort out my stove and heating system, happy days). Hope to see oyu sson though. I shall get on to sorting out a Christmas meet up thread, this thread is being a bit slow and abandoned but we WILL have a Christmas meet!

spiggy · 25/10/2009 19:54

never mind, catch you all next time. Think of me forced to work while you are all out having fun

BettySwollux · 25/10/2009 21:39

Hi all. sorry, cant make it this time.
Have fun.

Still up for child free booze meet up though .

Where is bouncingturtle these days?

Indith · 26/10/2009 08:03

I've been wondering that, may have to go hound her on facebook. Shame you can't make it.

DebInAustria · 26/10/2009 22:44

Hi everyone, I'm a bit of a fraud as you can see I'm in Austria, so can't make the meet up BUT we're moving back to the UK and we're thinking about the North East - Durham/Newcastle/Hexham? Tell me of some lovely places to live within 30 minutes of civilisation. Dh would love us to live on top of a hill with no neighbours but one of the reasons we're moving back is that I'm very isolated here even though we're in a village, so it has to be a village with a few amenities(we have 3 boys aged 9,7 and 1) and not too far from a bigger town/city. If any of you have time I'd love to hear about where you live and which places you like.

Thanks

BettySwollux · 27/10/2009 11:05

Hi Deb, when are you planning on moving back?
I live in a lovely village, on a hill, quite rural.
Nearest town 2 miles away, 10 mins drive to Durham/Newcastle/Sunderland/Beach.
Village has nursery, infant and junior schools (all good).
We have large-ish shop, a corner shop, post office and newsagent, 2 pubs a snooker club and a social/working mans club, so you don't need to venture out too much out of the village if you don't really want to.
Oh, also have good community center and beavers/ cubs and brownies/rainbows.

It's quite a friendly place, I love it.
On a clear day, the views are fabulous.
If you want to email me, its bswollux @ yahoo dot co dot uk (no spaces).

How long have you lived in Austria?

Indith · 27/10/2009 16:46

Christmas meet up thread Go see it and post

I went to the museum today with a friend, was nice but most of the exhibits that are the usual faves for the toddlers were out of order which was a bit rubbish.

HI there Deb I am in a village 5/6 miles from Durham. There is a pub and a pretty active village hall with coffee mornings, weekly cinema night, bar, yoga, Beavers, Cubs etc. We are 10/15 min walk to the next village with schools, nursery, playgroup, toddlers, Dr, butcher, post office and co-op etc. There are a few buses from my village to Durham and a good service from the bigger village to Durham. We only moved recently and I really love it.

BouncingTurtle · 27/10/2009 16:52

DebInAustria · 29/10/2009 07:05

Thanks BS and I, we've been here for 4 years and looks like it will be longer as the offer fell through on our house but I might get in touch with you if that's OK?

BettySwollux · 29/10/2009 21:40

Hi Deb, sorry to hear the offer fell through. Fingers crossed they'll be like buses and another offer will be along shortly .

Feel free to email on above addy if you like.
