Hi all and Happy Christmas

We finally got back into our flat on Saturday after many tears and tantrums when flamin' plumber failed to show up as promised and we were left here with flat upside down, covered in dirt and nowhere to wash it off. Argh. But he finally turned up yesterday and we've managed to restore some order, tear round Tescos and throw some fairy lights into the umbrella plant. Thank gawd the dss are too small to have much clue about what's going on Santa-wise. Ho ho ho.

Hope everyone else is having a more restful time. Thinking especially of you bookthief and hoping that your mum's doing ok. And of Vio and Martin too - hope you have a peaceful time and all good wishes for 2008 for you guys.

Not forgetting Trixy's cat, who I hope will be receiving a large fish in his/her Xmas stocking.

Anyway, had better go and figure out how one goes about cooking a goose, but I hope everyone has a lovely day tomorrow and that Santa brings you all good things and lots of Christmas cheer.

See you all soon
xx

TALLULAHBELLE · 27/12/2007 00:12

Hi & Merry Christmas. Hope you all had a lovely day.

bookthief · 01/01/2008 15:45

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope you all had a lovely time. I managed not to mess up the Christmas dinner (though it was touch and go with the turkey and the sprouts were pretty foul) so was v. pleased with myself .

Ds decided to see out the old year by taking his first steps - in front of grandma, grandpa and great grandma, good ol ds - and has been thriving on all the extra attention. Dh and I have been thriving on the extra babysitting and managed to get out to see friends for a few hours last night which was FAB.

All the best for 2008. Hope it's a good one.

weeonion · 01/01/2008 15:46

ellesbelles · 01/01/2008 19:16

right where's the tea and cake I was promised?!

midnightexpress · 01/01/2008 19:52

You have to come to the meet-up for that ellesbelles!

Happy New Year all! Glad the dinner was a success Bookthief. If it's any consolation, my roast potatoes were a disaster.

ds2 poorly so NYE a bit of a damp squib in Midnight Towers but otherwise we've had a very jolly time. DP's family all came up for a few days and the boys loved all the extra playmates all a good 20 years at least older than them but hey).

Tramway has changed I think, yes, but I believe there's still somewhere you can sit with the kiddiwinks. I can go along and check it out if no-one can come up with anywhere better as it's quite close to us.

geordiemacminxpie · 01/01/2008 19:55

{{{{{pops in and hands a nice mug of tea and a slice of cake to ellsbells.... victoria sponge with fresh cream and strawberries ok?}}}}}

ellesbelles · 01/01/2008 20:44

fresh cream - only the best for the newbie! Lovely! Must come round more often me thinks.

ME - I too am near the tramway! Think the cafe has moved upstairs til Feb. There is the actual cafe in one room and then another room with sofas, toys etc. Went a few weeks ago and not as nice as the downstairs venue but still possible for a meet up I think.

snowfunwhenyoureknackered · 02/01/2008 08:14

ordered onto this thread........................

happy new year everyone!

TALLULAHBELLE · 02/01/2008 09:46

Happy New Year everyone. Hope you all had fun. Ours was very boring quiet .Has been 42 degrees here so not much fun. Hope to catch you all in Jan.

trixymalixmasy · 02/01/2008 12:16

Happy New Year everyone!!

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Mine was absolutely knackering. We had DH's family staying for 3 days so had to feed 9 adults and 5 kids. Was lovely to have them though I still haven't recovered!!

We had a quiet Hogmanay too. Especially as DS slept through from 8 till 9.30!!!!

He obviously doesn't need fed at night now so we're trying to cut out the night feeds. DH was up for an hour and a half last night with DS.

I'm going back to work at the end of Jan so fingers crossed our sleep boot camp does the trick!

midnightexpress · 02/01/2008 14:35

Yeay Trixy - great news about ds's sleep. Haven't had the pleasure of quite such a long night's sleep as that yet, but definitely still much better than it was. Hang on in there, I'm sure it won't take too long once he realises there's no milk on offer.

Hope to see you before you go back to work.

Tallulah - while of heat, 42 degrees would be a bit much. Is dd sleeping through that? When are you back?

Welcome snowfun and ellesbelles! Where's my cream cake Geordie?

YumzieMumzieLaura · 02/01/2008 19:09

Hi everyone Ive come to first foot you from the other thread. Got any sultana cake?

midnightexpress · 02/01/2008 19:13

NO but I can do you a banana muffin and a small sherry?

sweetkitty · 02/01/2008 20:48

hello I have been directed over here from the other Scottish thread, think I posted a few messages a while ago when you were just bumps!

I'm in Lanarkshire with two DDs 3.5yo and 1.11yo and am 13 weeks with number 3. Always feel like I am gatecrashing as you all seem to know each other really well.

weeonion · 02/01/2008 21:05

sweetkitty - hi there and nope - we dont know each other that well - honest!!

blanki · 03/01/2008 01:44

Happy New Year everyone!
I wish I could sleep through the night and its not even ds to blame, just cant sleep just now and lurking round here. Watched that thing about reborn dolls on c4. Totally shocking, never seen anything like it. Sooo creepy, thought I was wierd!
Feeling brave, any joy re meeting up?

midnightexpress · 03/01/2008 09:18

Lots of newbies! Good to see you all - we'll have to hire a hall for our next meet-up at this rate.

Don't worry sweetkitty, dp calls them my imaginary friends.

ellesbelles · 03/01/2008 09:55

Morning everyone hope you are all well. Where did we get to in our conversation about Silverburn? I know there is meant to be an amazingly huge marks and spencers and a debenhams, but apart from that I'm clueless. Is it worth going for a look or is it the same as the other shopping centres in Glasgae?

Also looking for advice on areas as planning to move from our flat in the southside to a house with a garden. Can anyone tell me the good and bad areas of East Kilbride and Cambuslang as I have no clue. Or any other areas that are ok but not too expensive. Cheers

midnightexpress · 03/01/2008 10:07

ellesbelles - imo Silverburn a bit meh - just like every other shopping centre and not nearly as big as it looks from the outside. The M&S is quite nice, but I don't think it's as big as the one in Argyle Street. There's a small Debenhams as well but otherwise same old same old.

Re locations - we're in the same boat as you and we're looking at Burnside as a possibility - Trixy lives there and she likes it I think. Seems reasonable price-wise too. Otherwise I'm a bit clueless too. DP's brother lives in Cambuslang and there's some nice houses there, reasonably priced. but not sure I'd want to live there. Someone lives there on here, now who is it...? can't remember. There are quite few S lanarkshire people on here too - Geordie, Anjo, Vio, so I'm sure they'll be along soon with some advice. Where are you on Southside?

ellesbelles · 03/01/2008 10:15

Morning Midnight, thanks for all the info. Silverburn sounds a bit pants - shame as could have been good and close-ish to where I stay. I'm at Eglinton Toll just down from the Tramway.

Been having a look online at various areas, probably best to wait a couple of months as its a bit slow this time of year, but going to keep eyes peeled. I just can't do another summer without a garden, even if its the size of a postage stamp!

where on the southside are you Midnight?
