ps32, I hope you're getting support. It sounds like you're in a very difficult place at the moment. Hope your ds ok.

bookthief · 02/11/2007 19:47

Ds has started nursery...and it's ok! He had his first few hours on his own this morning, went to collect him at 12.30 to be told he'd just gone down for a nap and they'd phone me when he woke up if I wanted to come back. He slept for an hour and a half - Never does that at home! What a wee star.

Big relief as I'm back to work on Monday so hopefully he's going to settle in fine.

weeonion · 02/11/2007 19:50

Vio · 04/11/2007 22:19

hi everyone! its only me. just want to say hi, its been ages since I last posted here. I am doing ok, so far. it certainly isn't easy but life isn't perfect i suppose..I have learned a lot through having Jim Jim as a son and I think I am a much stronger and confident person now.

I miss Jim Jim of course and I love him very much too, I think he has never really left me, he lives in my heart and I know he needs a mummy whose strong...I try to live happy or at least as happy as I can be..I still cry sometimes but not very often..i think hes in a better place now...we all saw a rainbow at his funeral,,..its for him..hes an angel who came to teach me a lesson.

SO hows everyone then? hope all the little ones are doing well and hello to all mums who joined this thread recently!

liath · 05/11/2007 09:34

Hi Vio, I've been wondering how you are, it's wonderful that you can take so much that's positive from being James' mummy.

BTW, can I ask advice off the West Coast folk - I was wondering whether to come across to Glasgow Fort as I saw an advert for a big craft shop (dd heavily into creating at the moment) - is it worth driving through from Edinburgh for? Cheers.

midnightexpress · 05/11/2007 09:46

Liath - I'm not much of a one for shopping centres anyway, so probably not the one to ask, but I'd say a big NO! Haven't been to the craft shop but the rest of it is pretty much what you'd find elsewhere, and it's a bit windswept and depressing imo (outdoors). There's a big Borders, and Mamas and Papas, but nothing worth writing home about.

And while we're at it, I went to the new centre at Silverburn last week and that's a load of old pants too. Half of the shops are still shut and the rest is the same old same old: H&M, Boots, M&S blah blah blahdy blah.

Vio - great to hear from you and good to hear you're doing so well. What an amazingly positive lady you are. Do keep in touch with us won't you and hope you might be able to come along to one of our meet-ups soon.

bookthief - hope 1st day at work not too grim and glad to hear ds is doing well at nursery. It's hideous isn't it?

Loulee · 05/11/2007 23:06

hello everyone, just back from a weekend in the countryside with kiddos and grandparents. - some special (rare!!) free time - though i do love them all to bits!

vio - lovely to hear from you. The rainbow made me smile

oh and whoever was talking about garscube playrooms - theyre fantastic - a total lifesaver to me and the girls totally love it there. would really recommend - and if anyone fancies meeting up there let me know as it always nice to have a wee chat and chill out while the little ones are playing

oh and i'd also avoid the fort at all costs unless this craft place is really special.

Loulee · 05/11/2007 23:10

midnight what are u looking for for the wee ones? is it childcare or places to go? feel free to pick my brains - if i can be of any help!

midnightexpress · 06/11/2007 10:19

Hi Loulee - it's places to go really, not childcare, so will give the Garscube playrooms a go. Where are they (I don't even know where Garscube is...). maybe we could have our next meet-up there, but will definitely let you know if I'm going so we can meet up.

Meanwhile at sleeping boot camp ds2 fell asleep at 6.45 amidst fireworks banging and crashing and whistling all around and slept like a top until 5am! And ds1, who's been going through one of his up-at-5.30-and-ready-to-go-thankyouverymuch phases slept until woken at 6.30.

Hurrah for fireworks!

bookthief · 06/11/2007 13:15

Hi Vio, we've not spoken before but I think of you and Jim Jim often. I have a friend who lost her son at a similar age and I am in awe at the strength and positivity you both draw from your babies' short but very precious lives.

Midnight - hurrah for the big bangs! Ds slept through the fireworks too, weird.. This morning wasn't so good nursery-wise as he'd twigged what was happening when I left this time. Cue tears all round and it was awful to have to leave without comforting him. I phoned once I got to work though and he was ok. I guess it'll take time for him to really settle in.

It's really strange being back at work. The place is a time warp and it truly feels as if the last 12 months never happened .

midnightexpress · 06/11/2007 14:34

bookthief. DS1 going through similar as he's just moved up to Toddlers. He has a whale of a time as soon as I go, but the last two times we've gone he walks all the way up to the door, brightly saying 'We're going to NURSERY!' and carries on saying it in an increasingly miserable tone as we walk through the nursery and past his old room until by the time we get there he's wailing. It's horrid, but he seems perfectly delighted by the time I getback so hoping it'll pass before too long, and for your DS too.

Loulee · 06/11/2007 17:30

playrooms are in maryhill - just near north woodside swimming pool. you pay a yearly membership - about a tenner i think - andthen £1 each time u go. fit's 10am-4pm and you can make their lunch there too - theres a Wee kitchen and snack area.

the swamp's [soft play thingy] good too. next to lidl in maryhill - and they serve decent coffee

bookthief / midnight- i used to hate those early dAys - it does pass, i promise!

weeonion · 06/11/2007 21:21

hello - just a quick post so i can find you all later

trixymalixy · 06/11/2007 21:47

Hi guys,

Got back from a fab week in Spain with my folks. They basically took over for the week and I sat reading books while they did all the feeding and changing etc. They even did 4 nights of night feeding with Ben so I had a really good break.

Picked up the cat from the vets today. She looks OK apart from a bit of a limp tail, but she seems completely traumatised and won't let me anywhere near her. She also wolfed down loads of food and then threw it all back up again, poor cat .

Vio - it's really lovely to hear from you.

I won't make it to the meet up on Friday as DH is taking the day off to spend some time with us as I basically haven't seen him for the past 2 weeks and then he has a stag do at the weekend and then is away back down south working again.

bookthief · 07/11/2007 22:05

Trixy.

Glad you had a lovely break. We've just booked a cottage up North for a week in the summer and are taking my mum and dad... for their company, obviously, and not because there's a fab seafood restaurant that we're looking forward to trying out while they're having valuable grandparent/child bonding time

Im glad you've got your cat home (I've been thinking about her!). I should imagine it'll take her a good while to get back to normal after all she's been through, but that's great news that the damage isn't worse.

lunachick9 · 08/11/2007 09:22

Just thought I'd pop on quickly and tell you about the two new additions to my family while they are asleep. Darcy and Heidi were born by caesarean on the morning of the 25th October at the QM while you were all sitting down the road drinking coffee!

They are absolutely gorgeous and despite the hard work I think I'm coping okay - although last night was a bit more stressful than usual as I let H sleep through the night feed as he is back at work today and it took twice as long. They seem to be really good and only grumble when I don't get their feed quick enough so I am going to appreciate while I can. Hopefully I will be able to get out and about some time soon - shouldn't really be lifting both car seats alone yet because of caesarean (although I feel fine) so might make it for coffee to meet you all before the end of the year.

Loulee · 08/11/2007 09:55

wonderful news lunachick - so for you!

try not to do the lifting for awhile - i know it's really hard not to though. hope you heal fast - and enjoy your wee bundles!!

bookthief · 08/11/2007 16:58

Congratulations!! Am feeling very broody at the thought of tiny babies at the moment. Just keep reminding me about those night feeds to keep my hormones at bay

Really pleased for you & your dh, and that's great that you're feeling so well.

midnightexpress · 08/11/2007 17:43

Great news Lunachick - pleased to hear its all going well and that the nights aren't killing you. 'The night feed' sounds as if there's only one??? You lucky lucky lady if that's the case .

Hope to meet you and the girls at the next meet-up.

bookthief · 08/11/2007 20:04

Is tomorrow still on? I have a memory that Mono was suggested as a location.

Ds has already caught his first nursery cold so our attendance will depend how he is tomorrow, he's been alternating between grizzly and sleepy today.

geordiemacminx · 08/11/2007 21:30

I was hoping to come across tomorrow - not sure where? when?

weeonion · 08/11/2007 22:36

whi is able to come in the morning?? we had though of 10.30am at mono - but actually - now that i thnk of it - mono probably wont open til after 11.30. bum....
