hi, i was hoping that i could join this thread. I live in Wemyss Bay and I'm a sahm to my gorgeous wee boy Callum born last Aug.

Hope you're all ok.

TALLULAHBELLE · 17/04/2008 11:04

What are you suggesting Jacs - can't say it hasn't crossed my mind either . I'm going back full time & really dreading it. Afraid adult company will be lacking too - I'm a primary teacher!

Welcome Hellibe.

Jacs008 · 17/04/2008 20:16

Hello helibee. Primary teacher - think I'll give that a miss thanks :-), don't know how you manage it, my Mum is a p1 teacher and every now and then asks me to take DD or now DS in to meet the "weans", 5mins is more than enough for me.

Jacs008 · 21/04/2008 12:45

Has anyone come across shops local to Glasgow or the southside that sell baby carriers? I'm looking for an ergo or similar and I know you can buy them on line but I wanted to find a shop where I can try one on??

vio · 27/04/2008 21:56

Tomorrow is James' Birthday, he would have been 1 year old. He will be on the Scottish Daily Record tomorrow, theres a story about our wee boys fight and his life. Those of you who live in Scotland, get a copy and read about James if you get a chance. If you dont live in Scotland, you can view the story online at daily record's website.

bookthief · 28/04/2008 17:35

Thinking of your boy today vio. Happy Birthday James .

Here's the Daily Record article I hope it helps you raise lots of money and awareness of EB.

trixymalixy · 28/04/2008 21:39

Vio, Thinking of you today. I have just donated some money. The URL quoted on the daily record website isn't quite right though. Do you think they would be able to change it so people can find the website to donate?

vio · 28/04/2008 23:30

Trixy., thank you very much. The justgiving's website on dailyrecord's wesbite was wrong. We reckon it's a typing error, luckily, the one on the paper was right.

We will contact the reporter and see if she can get someone to change it. Thanks for that and thanks for your kind donation.

midnightexpress · 29/04/2008 13:34

Thinking of you Vio, and Martin and hope you're getting through this difficult time OK.

trixymalixy · 29/04/2008 21:25

How'd the house move go midnight?

midnightexpress · 30/04/2008 08:36

fine thanks trixy (once we sorted out the pipe that was leaking into the bedroom floor..). DS2 started nursery last week though and it's going down like a plate of cold sick - he's on sleep protest. So now not sure if it was a good idea to start him off at the other nursery and then move him and go through it all again in August at Oakwood. Hey ho. But otherwise all good.

BTW, I was going to ask you if you know of any mum and toddler groups in the area? Also, do you have a good gp? The only one I can find is the Health Centre on Stonelaw Rd., and figure I should get us registered somewhere soon.

Hi everyone. Want to share something with you all. I am pregnant, in fact, i am just over 11 wks pregnant. I decided to keep quiet becos I was under massive pressure, as you know, theres 1 in 4 that the baby will have EB like Jim Jim, 2 in 4 that the baby will not have EB but a carrier like me and Martin, or 1 in 4 that the baby will not have EB and not even a carrier of the faulty gene if the baby has inherited both good genes from the parents. Jim Jim had two bad ones from each of us, he was affected. This time round, i was under massive pressue, went to have CVS last Thursday at PRM, the sample was then sent down to St.Thomas hospital in London, they told us it could take up to a week....honestly, it's a nerve wracking experience, I couldn't sleep properly for the last 6 nights, a day felt like a year, even this morning i woke up thinking what if the baby is affected, can I cope? will i cope? and you know, second time round is just very difficult, every pregnancy is unique, theres a possibily that the baby will be affected...

Today I phoned my midwife at PRM at around 3pm, she said they haven't received anything from the Lab, will keep chasing, then I phoned my EB nurse, her phone was switched off, then i left a message...at around 4pm, my EB nurse phoned me...then my midwife phoned me as well....she said, you are having a baby girl and she's fine, not only she's fine, she has no EB gene at all, the bad gene didn't pass on, it stops here...I couldn't speak for a while, I was over the moon, then started crying..happy tears I suppose.

It was Jim Jim's birthday on Monday but he gave Mummy the biggest gift in life, I just want to say thank you for everyones support over the past year and I also want to let you all know that this baby girl is going to be a very special girl, shes due in Nov, we will have a very special Christmas this year..

trixymalixy · 30/04/2008 22:03

OMG Vio, that is just the best news!!!!

I am crying tears of joy for you and Martin.

trixymalixy · 30/04/2008 22:16

ME, My GP is Dr L at the Overtoun practice at the health centre and she is absolutely fab. Dr R I would avoid like the plague and Dr H is nice but a bit scatty. Email me if you want more details.

There are two mother and toddler groups that I know of, one in stonelaw church, the church opposite the health centre on Wed and Fri mornings, that I used to go to before I went back to work. There's also one in burnside church, the church by the tennis courts but I think there's a waiting list for it.

There's sing and sign classes also in burnside church on a Tuesday.

Pesha · 30/04/2008 22:28

Crashing in from April thread just to say Vio that is truly wonderful news, I really am so pleased for you And crying too (but don't tell anyone! ).

Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy and beyond.

I have a Nov DD, its great - they're young enough that you can get everyone else to do all the xmas work for you but old enough that you're passed the worst cracked nipples and after pains!! What's your due date?

penpotEca · 30/04/2008 22:37

Oh Vio that is such fantastic news - I can't tell you how happy that has made me this morning! . Hope you have a lovely rest of pregnancy; it must have been nerve-racking for you these past few weeks.

DS1 is a November boy too - lovely time of year for a birthday. We can convince him that all the fireworks are just in celebration of him. .

Trixy, thanks for that info. I'll see if I can work out the details from the phone book and CAT you if I get stuck. Burnside church is just round the corner, so might check that out, and a Friday morning group would be just the ticket, as I've got the boys all day on Fridays. Is it just drop-in?

Jacs008 · 01/05/2008 11:07

congratulations on your wonderful news Vio

nippersnappers · 01/05/2008 11:13
