hi folks. i am off to garscube in teh a.m - ellesbelles will be there as well if any of you fancy it??

midnightexpress · 29/02/2008 09:21

Hi all

Lovely day for indoor soft play WO! But we can't make it today - waiting for the removal man to come and give us a quote while my children slowly dismantle the flat.

SOLD Trixy! We are really chuffed - we got a good offer within a week, so it's all going ahead, fingers crossed. I've started reading house porn and dreaming about having a garden for the summer - yeay! I've put in an appplication for Oakwood too - we went for a visit and it looks great, so hope we get something before too long, as the commute to Pollokshields is going to be a bit of a drag in the meantime.

We're going to celebratre by buying the biggest bed we can find; we're still sleeping on the flamin' sofabed, while ds2 lolls around in our room like Little Lord Fauntleroy.

How's work going Trixy? Have you got used to being back yet?

nippersnappers · 29/02/2008 11:35

Sorry if it's been asked before, but are any of you ladies signing up for the Edinburgh Race For Life?

ellesbelles · 29/02/2008 16:57

Hi all, not posted for a while. Great news re your flat NL - hopefully that will be us within the next couple of months.

Just back in from Garscube - it was quiet - I imagine due to the weather, which was shocking on the way home. glad to be indoors now.

I'm off to Go-Go Baby tomorrow. It's a new baby disco at Buddha in Paisley, 2-5pm. Anyone fancy it?

Dp is hoping that there is alcohol served. I have told him there is to get him to go (evil woman, as I have no idea).

I've signed up for the Glasgow race for life nippers...

nippersnappers · 29/02/2008 20:30

Fantastic, is it on the same day EB?
I'm lloking forward to it but I'm finding hard to get motivated at the moment and need a bit of a push.

You walking or running it?

My plan is to do this 5k, the 10k next year and then the Great North Run next year. Think I'm kidding myself though, I haven't ran since my school days.

geordiemacminx · 29/02/2008 20:37

I'm doing the Great North Run this year [eeeek]

nippersnappers · 29/02/2008 20:47

Brilliant Geordie, is it your first time?

I've always wanted to do the Great North Run and never have got round to it.

I'm trying to change my lifestyle now I can make a bit more time for myself.

I used to be a fair athlete at school but would have trouble running for a bus at the minute.

midnightexpress · 01/03/2008 08:16

You'll be fine nippersnappers - I did the 10k a few years ago and I only trained from Jan till the race. And I hate running (so I never did it again ).

Wow Geordie - isn't the Great North Run a half marathon? Blimey! Are you doing it for charity or just for yourself?

geordiemacminx · 01/03/2008 10:43

I'm doing it for Debra - in memory of James.

midnightexpress · 01/03/2008 14:16

Oh that's a great idea GMM. Is Vio running too? When is it? I'll sponsor you when it gets nearer the time.

babelove · 02/03/2008 10:46

Hello, I am new to mumsnet? I live in Lanarkshire, am 30 and have one baby who is 6 weeks old. I don't know that many mums in the Glasgow area, so I'm feeling a bit out of it. I would love to have some mum mates to chat to occasionally.

midnightexpress · 02/03/2008 12:00

Hi there babelove and welcome! Whereabouts are you in Lanarkshire? We're just about to move to Burnside, and there are quite a few of the others in S Lanarkshire too. How is it going with the new baby?

.

babelove · 02/03/2008 19:40

Hi Midnightexpress, I used to live near Burnside bout 2.5 years ago! I now live near Hamilton. New baby is doing well so far! (He is a boy!) He sleeps most of the night so am quite lucky
How old are your kid(s)?

midnightexpress · 02/03/2008 19:54

Mine are 2.4 and 13 months (both boys too) babelove, so quite close in age and quite a handful (ds2 has just started walking too, god help us) but great fun too. Though v at a sleeping baby - 13 months old and he still doesn't sleep through .

Anyhoo, hope to meet you and ds at one of our meet-ups.

geordiemacminx · 02/03/2008 20:00

welcome babelove - I'm in Uddingston, used to live in Hamilton. I have a little boy who is 10 months.... god 10 months??? How did that happen???

nippersnappers · 02/03/2008 20:09

Hiya babelove,
I live over in the East of the country and have two boys 3 and 1, I am new too, but everyone here has made me feel really welcome.
Enjoy

nippersnappers · 02/03/2008 20:11

Big wave to geordie and Midnight too.

TALLULAHBELLE · 02/03/2008 21:13

Hi All - hope everyone had lovely Mothers' Day. DD took me out for dinner last night (DH came too). We went to the Thai Siam & she was good as gold - sat in the highchair eating noodles by the handfull! It was yum.

Just found the Garscube Playrooms - 5 min away from my flat- haven't been in yet but plan to try them out this week. Anyone elde going?

Bookthief, believe saw your DS when I was looking round the local nurseries. Did you get a finely crafted blue hand for Mothers' Day perchance???!!!

ellesbelles · 02/03/2008 22:20

Evening all and happy mother's day to you.

Nippers I think the Edinburgh one is on the 1st June and the Glasgow one is the 8th. If I don't get off my bum and start doing some actual training I will have to walk it.

I was told recently by my doctor that I had osteoarthritis of the hip and that I wasn't to run, but when I went for a second opinion another doctor said my hip ligaments had just been affected by pregnancy and physio would sort it out and it was fine to run - thanks goodness. So now I need to start from scratch and find a good beginners training programme to get started. Any ideas?

Hi babelove and welcome, I live on the southside just now, but hoping to move out around your way soon. My dd is 10 months and I am going back to work in a month - HELP!!!!!!

Tallulah I usually go to the playrooms on a Friday morning - well for the next 4 weeks - so hopefully see you there. I will put some pics of my dd on my profile so you can recognise me.

Hope you all had a lovely mother's day. I got flowers and breakfast in bed from my lo - it was great.

midnightexpress · 03/03/2008 09:49

ellesbelles, have you heard of the women's jogging network? I joined when I did the 10k. There are different groups at the various leisure centres around town that meet on different nights. They usually start pretty slowly and build up to the 10k in May. And it's free!

Hold on I'll see if I can find a link...

here you go

Snow! Blimey. We are stuck indoors. Car broken down, and ds2 has another fever and spent the night howling poor sausage.

bookthief · 03/03/2008 17:33

Hi all, not been on for a bit as I spent the last week on jury duty which was grim and has left me feeling really crappy about the world.

However, I was cheered up by my mother's day card with blue hands on it tallulahbelle.. Which explained why ds was covered in blue paint that day .

I'm probably going to be at Garscube on Thursday or Friday but our plans are a bit up in the air at the moment as we're heading through to Edinburgh on Friday at some point for my nephew's 2nd birthday.

Any of you fit people doing the Moonwalk in Edinburgh this summer? I know it's just walking (and I'm wimping out at the Half Moon rather than the full marathon) but I'm getting quite nervous about it. I found a website that lets you see the distance of your training walks/runs and realised that I vastly overestimate the distances I do. 13 miles is actually bloody far!

babelove · 04/03/2008 11:07

hi all, any recommendations for groups or classes that we can go to? feeling a bit cabin fever and think we need to get out and about more now!

Joolyjoolyjoo · 04/03/2008 11:11

Babelove- I am in Hamilton! I'm 35 and have 3- 2 girls, 4 and 2.7 and baby boy 16wks. There is a baby activity class at Hamilton palace sports grounds on a friday 10-11am. I haven't been yet, but its run by my old HV. Its signing, music, massage etc. Does this help?

babelove · 04/03/2008 11:17

hi Joolyjoolyjoo, my son is 6 wks old! thanks for this, we will check it out. there is only so much shopping i can do - nvr thought that I would say that!

geordiemacminx · 04/03/2008 12:38

I go to baby sensory on thursday at 1pm in uddingston community centre if you would like to come along?
