We've now vacated the pregnancy threads - hope everyone can find us here!

Oh that looke quite good!

I had ordered him a wooden truck baby walker which you can take the handle off when they don't need it anymore and they can just use it as a truck from GLTC. I ordered it on the 12th of October and they promised it would be delivered early january, but as they just refunded my money I'm guessing it won't be arriving .

trixymalixy · 07/01/2008 20:57

I guess as Xmas is over I should go back to my regular name.

midnightexpress · 07/01/2008 21:47

That's a bit rubbish Trixy. How annoying. We nearly ordered a play table from them for the boys for Chrimble. Glad we went with trusty old John Lewis now.

Hrumph.

Now, rewinding somewhat, Ellesbelles, wot's all this about porridge before bed? Does it make them SLEEP??????

trixymalixy · 07/01/2008 22:15

The nights that DS slept well he had either oatcakes or those organix oat bars after his dinner, so I had been thinking about giving DS porrige for dessert!!

We bought a swing for £9 in TK Maxx the other day for DS. So I'm kind of thinking of not getting him anything else for his birthday. It's not like he'll notice.

I had wanted to get him some kind of heirloom present but we're quite skint so might just get him a wooden sandpit in the summer.

ellesbelles · 07/01/2008 22:24

Well it was GMM that let me in on the old porridge lark. Moved dinner time forward a bit and then a nice bowl of porridge about an hour before bed, followed by ususal milk at bedtime. Not only does it get more milk in to the little angels, but in my case it has made for longer sleeps, so far anyway.

midnightexpress · 08/01/2008 14:40

verrrry interestink...

clu · 08/01/2008 17:26

quick one ladies ,,,, any advice my dd is getting her first immunisations tomorrow and im a bit nervous (for me lol as well as her!)

geordiemacminx · 08/01/2008 19:17

Clu - Make sure you have some calpol in just incase she gets a bit warm, other than that it'l be fine, I thought it would be far worse than it was.

clu · 08/01/2008 20:11

thanks guess im just apprehensive ill get some calpol in the morn

meep · 09/01/2008 08:54

hello Scottish ladies!
geordiemacminx directed me to this thread - she spotted my North of the border roots after my rant last night about Mistresses not being shown on BBC1 Scotland!
So I thought I would check in!
I'm from Edinburgh - have one dd who is 6 months and just being weaned (am loving the carrot splats decorating my floor at the moment!) and am about to go back to work in 1.5 weeks - yikes!
Haven't had time to read the whole thread - so just hello and good morning to you all

trixymalixy · 09/01/2008 10:53

Hi Meep!!

I'm going back to work in 3 weeks. I'm totally dreading it too!

ellesbelles · 09/01/2008 12:45

Afternoon all, I feel the back to work pain. I am sitting replying to my boss re my flexible working options for going back. Not til April, but having to think about it makes it feel so soon and so scary. Please let me win the lottery!

Clu, how did jags go? Is your lo ok?

Hi Meep, I'm orginally from Edinburgh. Where about are you? I was born in Leith, brought up in Colinton.

GMM/WO disaster!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Phoned re and booked a viewing at that house for Sunday morning and estate agents have just phoned to say that the owners had a viewing today and have accepted the offer. I am gutted and annoyed with self for not moving faster.

weeonion · 09/01/2008 15:31

meep - hi to you! i am in glasgow but work in eburgh.
what a pants day out there - well tbh - i havent even set foot outside!
EB - oh no!! that is pants! any other similar places around there??

clu - hows the flat and weeone after her jags??
lunachick - how you all doing??

geordiemacminx · 09/01/2008 15:41

Been to swimming today - C still isnt really up for it.

EB - There is one on the JL site - Ashley Grove or something? Such a shame means they would have accepted an offer without going to survey - surprised the estate agent didnt let you go and see it anyway - if they only accepted an offer today its not formal.

ellesbelles · 09/01/2008 17:53

I am quite surprised that they wouldn't let us go and see it anyway. I did ask, but she seemed adamant, so that's that. I notice they have under offer on the web site as well. So what's for you won't go by you and all that. At least we know we really like that area. Will have a look at the Ashley Grove one and see what its like.

AA was up and dancing from 12am til 3am last night and then back up at 7am so think I only got a couple of hours so my big plans for my first silverburn visit went up the spout. In fact haven't been out the door today - did you see those hailstones? brrrrr!

clu · 09/01/2008 22:26

Hi there, jags were ok, poor wee lamb the cry she let out broke my heart into a million pieces. She is just very unsettled now, but not as bad as I expected.

Flat is ok ive got my two estimates done and a voucher for the carpet (£720!I had got a nice wool carpet cheap off the internet for £300) so it should start to move. I want this place on the market for the spring.
hi meep,
sorry you missed out on the house EB!
I was in those hailstones as I decided to walk to the docs (being healthy an all)! Has lunachick been on lately? I wonder how she and the twinnies are getting on?

clu · 09/01/2008 22:27

(im ignoring the back to work talk, keep it out of my bubble where I win the lottery once i buy a ticket)

meep · 10/01/2008 08:45

morning everyone!
Aren't jabs horrible - was it the first set clu?
I spent last night sticking name labels on mini-meeps bottles and food dishes - I'm strangely ok about putting her in nursery - I think because it is now happening I am just going to have to get on with it. But I am so going to miss my lovely days just cruising round shops and drinking coffee with other mums and watching every chaning develpment in my lovely wee girl. It's going to be gutting learning that she's done something new from other people
Ach well - still got 11 days to win that lottery ticket!
We've just dropped dd's dream feed - and she slept from 7pm till 6.45am last night - hooray hooray! The next big step is to actually move her into her own room....
ellesbelles - I'm on the South side of Edinburgh - have lived on the north too - but not in Leith
Hope all you Glasgow ladies survived the storms with your houses intact? Our bedroom is in a loft conversion - my DH woke me at around 3am to say that the bed was shaking (not for the reason I am sure he would have liked ) - I thought the house was going to take off!

midnightexpress · 10/01/2008 14:31

hi Meep.

I can't keep track of all these newbies - we'll have to have a meet-up soon so I can put faces to names and meet everyone.

I've just started work this week, but I've gone freelance so still verrrry part-time and lots of time at home with the LOs, so it's all going well so far. Still don't have a nursery place for ds2 yet though, so shoe-horning work in around other things a bit, which I don't want to go on for too long.

Glad the jags were ok Clu. It's their little faces that do me in - Why did you let them do that to me mummy? DS1 managed to whack the syringe out of the hv's hand halfway through his meningitis jag so I have no idea if he's properly immunised or not. Hey ho.

vio · 10/01/2008 14:46

HI everyone, have a great news to share!

I'm very happy. My niece, ( my sister in Canada has just given birth to a beautiful girl, weighted 7lb 2oz...she's a lovely little girl).

It's like a miracle, when Jim Jim was still with us, we knew he will not be around as long as other children, my sis wanted to come and see Jim Jim but just before she was about to book her flight, she discovered that she's pregnant. ( she had an ectopic pregnancy in june 06, just before i discovered I was pregnant with Jim Jim ) and had to remove one tube. 2006 wasn't a good year for my sister and 2007 wasn't a good year for me.

I have to say I wish Jim Jim's here so he can see his little cousin but whenever he is now, I am sure he can see her.

Anyway, wonderful news!! I am so glad that she's born healthy and the birth was pretty straight forward without any complication! I am so happy now!

weeonion · 10/01/2008 14:50

vio
that is lovely news - really great. i am sure you are all over the moon. congrats on being an auntie. looking forward to seeing you soon. xxxx

midnightexpress · 10/01/2008 20:53

Great news Vio and congratulations on becoming an auntie! Will you be able to get out to Canada to visit your new niece?

clu · 10/01/2008 21:37

Congrats vio that is lovely news,i was looking at your flickr site of food last night, got my mouth watering.

Yes meep they were her first jags she seems a bit better today . For the first time actually acknowleged a toy, on her bouncy chair there is a bumble bee rattle and she was talking to it and smiling at it. Now im just waiting for her first giggle. I love seeing her developing every day, never thought I would get so much pleasure from being a mummy.

midnightexpress · 10/01/2008 21:41

It's great isn't it clu? DS2 has come out with his Official First Word today, which is

BANG!

Which he says as he bangs his hand down on the table. He has also taken to pointing at the window when he hears a siren. TWO nee-naw obsessed toddlers in the house? I don't know if I can take it.

bookthief · 11/01/2008 01:22

I can't believe I'm still up - lie in today as dh was off which is coming back to bite me. No lie in tomorrow so I must go to bed!

vio - congratulations! What lovely news for your family.

ellesbelles - I was brought up near Fairmilehead. I wonder if we were at school together? I went to Firrhill. Would be a couple of years below you if you did.

Ok, I'm going to bed now and think of our crappy new computer system at work to get me to sleep.
