For when the August thread runs out.

OP posts:
quokka · 23/09/2007 14:53

Well I cooked a lamb roast today and god it was delicious but how hot was I in the kitchen . We did crank up the air con in the dining room so we felt cold .

I'm quite envious of your meet ups in mild weather tbh.

If it helps pc we have yapping dogs that are constantly barking from different apartments in our condo. It always amazes me how the smallest dogs can make the most noise!

stepfordwife · 23/09/2007 16:02

...like men, quokka...

eleusis · 23/09/2007 16:07

Oh, I can't keep up. Sue, can you e-mail me and tell me what I owe you. CDo you want me to transfer it or come round in person one night after work. Whatever is easier for you.

stepfordwife · 23/09/2007 16:08

foxie..nothing like a bit of multi-tasking, eh? but, ahem - cue sanctimonious air - aren't you meant to be praying in church, m'dear? (so speaks a lapsed catholic...)

paddle...bet dd is looking very fetching in her new shoes. poor you re neighbours. once i gloated to dh:" we're so lucky, we've never had neighbours from hell."..
then we both had the same light bulb moment:"shit! we are the neighbours from hell!" (due to 3 kids, not anything worse, i hasten to add..)

kew - lovely to see you earlier. dd stuill on about your ds and the ducks.

sfx - hey, let's set up a toddlers R us cleaning company

Paddlechick666 · 23/09/2007 19:29

evening all.

steppie, dd looks a treat in her new outfit and shoes. i wish i had the energy to be a neighbour from hell! mind you, psycho next door accused dd of keeping her awake with her crying when we had the 4am ding-dong last weekend. clearly she's still in bed at 7pm then which is about the only time she cries.

i will admit to allowing very noisy clapping games at 7am when she wakes up tho - in my bedroom as close to the party wall as i can get

sfx and foxie, great to see you at kew earlier. can't believe that stuffy woman who was so huffy about the kids playing on the sculpture. put a bloody fence round it if you don't want kids on it!

sfx, your dd is such a cutie. must get them together more frequently.

tea/bath was a bit frazzled but dd is fast a-snoozing now and i am going to try and have a stress free evening in front of the telly and block out all the jobs i should be doing instead!

foxcub · 23/09/2007 19:36

Steppy LOL!!

Kew I will post a tenner through your door tomorrow

Well after a busy day of alpha-mumming, I cooked a tasty dinner of spagetti hoops and toast! BTW I heated the hoops up from scrach

rosmerta · 23/09/2007 19:37

Evening all, have been out and about all weekend as my mum is down for a visit. Bless her, she's changed her hours at work and is staying until Tuesday so I can go to the funeral.

Ds had his first chinese meal tonight, he had a bit of the stir fried veg we got him but he decided the egg fried rice was much nicer and pulled the big bowl of it in front of him to eat out of it!

Paddle, I know what you mean about Victorian terraces, next door we also have a fishwife ("You're supposed to read the whole effing book to understand it, not just a page" to 7yr old!). It does get you down when its happening every day.

sfxmum · 23/09/2007 20:17

Yingers74 · 23/09/2007 21:23

sfx - thanks I might start a thread on the health section and see what advice I get. Yes although unlike spike and angel there is no eye candy - swoon - loved them both! Occasionally catch bones but it is not the same thing!

Can someone CAT or email me kew's or is its mrsr's email so I can contribute via paypal please? Thanks

MrsRecycle · 23/09/2007 21:43

Yingers - have Cat'd you!

Pc - I was thinking of you at the weekend, down at the caravan, when all I could hear were the sound of seagulls and the waves on the sea crashing together. Why don't you come down with me one weekend and escape your mad neighbours. It is just so peaceful down there.

Foxie - I can beat you [sticks tongue out] - I was a single mum to 5 kids this weekend. We went to the seaside and both dds had their friends with them. It was amazing to know I could do it but I didn't have a spare 5 minutes to myself (especially with ds eating sand and stones). And the amount of washing 5 kids produce!! Our car broke down on the way there - same thing as yours no oil, yet we'd just had it serviced not so long ago. I think the garage forgot to put the oil back in. Or maybe we're heading for the same problem as yours. It was terrifying driving down the fast lane and then it cutting out (in the dark as well). I just turned around and came back home and dh sorted it out in the morning.

I was trying to get my sister to babysit your ds2 on Tuesday but she has to work.

foxcub · 24/09/2007 08:03

Mornin all

MrsR - poor you breaking down in the dark - its terrible breaking down in the fast lane isn't it ? Really scarey - specially when you've got 5 kids - including other people's kids!! Glad you all got back safe and sound.

Kewcumber · 24/09/2007 09:35

yingers it is suejonez at aol dot com

StarryStarryNight · 24/09/2007 09:39

Morning! Brand new week and all. ... Heavy rain we have today?

Can SOMEBODY who knows Kew Retail Park well-ish tell me if Mothercare of M&S have a good selection of boys school shoes?

DS1 BROKE his shoe on friday. I mean, how did he do that?

MrsR
How fab that or AP's get on so well! I am really happy about that! I think they, and another nanny from DS1s school had a great saturday night here while we were camping. Though the house was immacculate, tidier than I left it, lol!

Anybody going to the Happy Circus on Wednesday?

MrsRecycle · 24/09/2007 09:43

It's great isn't it Starry - just wish they were a bit closer but then at weekends we're away so at least they can stay at each other's houses? Yes I love having my AP - I come back home from a stressful day at work and the house is clean and tidy.

MrsRecycle · 24/09/2007 10:47

Wreath arranged for tomorrow - white flowers with green edging. Message "A Lift Cut Short but a love Everlasting" Love xx's friends in West London. I got one for £50 so that makes a total of £92 between us all. Hope this is okay with you all.

sfxmum · 24/09/2007 10:48

good morning all

mrsR how scary! congrats on proper AP bound to get lucky sometime

glad sun is out now I just have to summon up the will to move and take dd out to jump in muddy puddles

foxcub · 24/09/2007 11:24

MrsR - That is a lovely message for the wreath

Starry - M&S have an OK selection, I got DS1's and DDs school shoes there - they are reasonably priced (decent pair of leathers for about £22) - Next also have a selection. I think Mothercare do Clarks, but I never buy from there as there is always a queue and I don't "do" queues with small children. Hope you find some

Kew - remember the Pirate gear

I have a tenner for you for the collection.

Is there enough money collected to cover the wreath and biscuits?

Kewcumber · 24/09/2007 11:39

I'll add the money up later Foxie. We only need about £10 x9 which I think we will be close to so shuld be fine. If everyone sends/gives theirs to me and I'll transfer teh difference between cost of biscuits and total to MrsR. If there's any spare we can always buy her something small.

Foxie - Have sorted out hat and hook, blouse is in the machine now so should be dry tomorrow, would prefer to wash scarf too but will do that tonight so should all be ready tomorrow (assuming I remember it )

StarryStarryNight · 24/09/2007 11:41

Thanks Foxcub, will make my way there later then.

ComeOVeneer · 24/09/2007 12:48

My childcare isn't going to happen tomorrow, so I shan't be able to make the funeral . But I will be thinking of 2cute tomorrow.

What foul weather we had last night . DH "forgot" to bring in the llaundry last night (I asked him to do it whilst I was cooking supper). And announced the fact to me a 2am this morning when we were woken by the gale and rain pounding on the velux windows, so had to retreive it from various bushes/plants around the garden and rewash it all .

foxcub · 24/09/2007 16:32

CoV - Oh Dear - well I hope your washing enjoyed its adventures round your garden!!

I hate it when I can't hang washing outside. There is something very satisfying about hanging washing on a hot day, knowing it will be dry by evening. I like to pretend I am an Italian Mama while I put the pegs on, the sun shining down on my back, children playing happily in the background.

Kew - for some reason I've implied on my note to you that you are going to the funeral. Of course, I know you are not.

Been having a few mad moments today - even forgot to do the school run and had to jog all the way there ;cos I ws 15 minutes late Hi Steppy!!

My last week of enslavement this week - bcak to work on 1 Oct

stepfordwife · 24/09/2007 17:14

foxie..don't be too hard on yourself, pet

after all, you left an hour early to take dd to school the other day!

i was running (literally) late too for ds1's "meet the teacher" sesh.
out of all the tables in the classroom, i manged to choose ds1's seat to sit in...spooooooky, eh?

eleusis · 24/09/2007 17:37

Steppy, I went to a curriculum evening at school. And after acting like a pushy parent and asking a few questions (no one else said a peep), the teacher mouthed to me "Are you (insert my DD's name)'s mum?" And I thought oh God, is my 4 year old a pushy parent too.

foxcub · 24/09/2007 19:37

LOL Ele!!

Steppy that is a bit spooooky!!!

Well I made DS2 a very worthy supper of mashed potato with steamed ORGANIC Halo broccoli and carrots. He completely rejected it in favour of a fromage frais

Which just goes to prove that the more effort you put into preparing your children's food, the less likely they are to eat it!
