For when the August thread runs out.

OP posts:
ComeOVeneer · 28/09/2007 14:10

Foxy fwiw in 3 hours I clean 3.5 bathrooms including washing the floors. strip and remake 3 beds, hoover all 4 floors, dust 3 bedrooms, study and living room, do and hang a couple of loads of washing, unloda dishwasher, clean kitchen worksurfaces and floor.

ComeOVeneer · 28/09/2007 14:13

I don't have a cleaner. For some reason in a hormanally induced state (when pregnant with ds) I decided I couldn't justify not going out to work and having a cleaner, so I gave her notice just before I started maternity leave. Not working!!!! WHat the hell did I think being at home with a newborn and a toddler was?????

Mind you I am rather OCD/anal about how things are done around the house and have never found a cleaner compatible with my ideas so it is easier all round if I do it.

SJ99 · 28/09/2007 15:04

Feeling smug as I finally got DS to eat a yogurt today after him not eating it for 6mths. Had to call it fromage frais though, it was enough to fool him, he scoffed 2pots!!

Talking of cleaning I need to get on with cleaning the house as in-laws arrive from France in about 30mins, eek. They's staying 1 week, for this reason I can't meet on Sun day Ros but thanks for the offer of cake, very tempting.

LOL PC at your cleaner & thanks for update on 2cute

foxcub · 28/09/2007 16:31

CoV - OK the job is yours!!

Seriously, MrsR - please do ask your cleaner - she sounds great. I might give this other woman a go, but I didn't like her - bit stroppy.

Anyone else got a good cleaner who might be interested in my waynetta slob lovely house?

ComeOVeneer · 28/09/2007 17:01

Ah but foxy I generally do it whilst yabbering away on the phone, so you would have to factor in a 3hour telephone bill to the cost

Kewcumber · 28/09/2007 19:53

Foxie - a frined of mine lives around the corner to you (Pensford) and uses a polish cleaning agency - you do get the same cleaner every week but if you have any problems with her they'll move someone esle in. I'll get the number.

A cleaner when you are working keeps you sane.

In three hours mine cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen mops kitchen and hall floor and hoovers living room, tidies up my mess so that she can clean aorund it. If I leave clean sheets out on the bed, she'll also change them. And changes the radio from Heart to something hideously funky. (only kidding Paddle). Oh and she stacks the dishwasher (very badly) and someties puts a load in the washing machine (also very badly!). But she isn;t phased by my sluttish ways so is worth her weight in gold... when she turns up.

Kewcumber · 28/09/2007 19:56

Have a trying day with DS who seesm to be tired and therefore having a rare grumpy day. May have had something to do with the 4.30am wake up and scream session. Seems to have become a bit of a habit and haven't had a full nights sleep in weeks. Any suggestions (drugs???). Have tried ignoring it, going in and resettling him, using a nightlight but none of it works. Or at least works that night but doesn;t stop him waking up the next night. Do I just put up with it and think "this too shall pass"

Paddlechick666 · 28/09/2007 20:04

my cleaner is from a polish agency too, as recommended by Oxo. Where is Oxo btw?!

she's £24 for 3 hours.

QC, is ds warm enough? my dd has been waking earlier this week and i think it's because she's a bit chilly.

took a half day today and went to kingston shopping. got dd a whole bunch of new clothes in h&m and primark and some new jeans and a top for me in Gap. couldn't find any wellies but they're still on my list.

bugger the money, that's what mr visa is for eh?

Kewcumber · 28/09/2007 20:08

I got some dirt cheap wellies in Matalan Paddle for about £4. No I don't think he;s cold - he's well wrapped up.

Kewcumber · 28/09/2007 20:08

we had first outing in the much loved wellies today. They are a big so he has a bit of a struggle walking in them, bless.

sfxmum · 28/09/2007 20:14

sorry to hear about the nights KC, it is a pain, dd has that on/ off and I have stopped counting but since she sleeps next to me she is never awake for too long as I just cuddle her to sleep sometimes I don't even remember how she came from her bed to mine

  • not for everyone I know.

Paddle I know it is not cheap but I love the wellies at Shoe Station in Kew

so glad it is the weekend as I can finally leave the house after 3 days locked in I am going crazy

rosmerta · 28/09/2007 20:14

Kew, ds has been doing this recently also, I think its because he's teething/got a cold/seems to be having a growth spurt judging by the amount he's eating! I just leave him to settle himself down or put his music on. If he's really bad I'll get him a drink of water but otherwise I think its grit your teeth until it passes!

Paddlechick666 · 28/09/2007 20:20

ooh matalan! that's in kingston isn't it? bugger, i can't be arsed going back. was thinking of a trip to hounslow tomorrow instead.

they had some cute wellies in h&m but i baulk at 14.99!

i wish dd would come into my bed again sometimes. well, when she's poorly at least but it just seems to jazz her up and make her even more awake and ready to play "hidey" under the duvet!

ros, i'm around sunday if you fancy meeting up?

there was a book fayre at work again today, got dd a Nightgarden book which she loves. also got a bike ride book as i am optimistic of conquering my apprehension of taking dd on the bike on my own.

actually ros, don't you guys bike? if the weathers fine d'you fancy trying that on sunday? round syon perhaps?

interminable houseguest has gone out for the evening having hooked up with some local guys. thank goodness despite he was supposed to be in charge of dinner.

he's keen on a room but is waiting for them to let him know if he's been succesfull. i don't think he's even tried looking for anywhere else.

i tell you, this will end sooo badly if he doesn't find his own place soon!

sfxmum · 28/09/2007 20:21

oh yes teething and growth spurts are a bugger.

dd usually says what she wants/ needs, and water is often requested.

sometimes it it just dreams and she sits bolt up looking dazed, in which case quick cuddle and pat and she goes back to sleep

ComeOVeneer · 28/09/2007 20:54

That is a shame paddle, I was in Kingson's matalan this morning geting a few bits and pieces.

I have asked dh for a bicycle for christmas as am determined to ditch the car as much as possible (will need a seat for ds to get him to and from nursery etc having tried it at centre parcs I realised it isn't so tricky).

rosmerta · 28/09/2007 21:15

We do bike but tbh I'm not very fit yet so can't quite manage with ds. But would still love to meet up either before lunch or after nap?

slng · 28/09/2007 21:17

Kew - ds1 used to do that (the waking up and screaming in the night), but once I stopped watching the Simpsons he stopped! He wasn't even watching, just milling about while I watched. Still don't know if that had anything to do with it ...

Poundstretcher for wellies! Thomas ones, even!
Where to get dressing gown for 2yr old though?

rosmerta · 28/09/2007 21:22

slng, boots at Kew retail have dressing gowns up to 4yr old iirc and I think they're aound £10-15

sfxmum · 28/09/2007 21:24

M&S and Gap do dressing gowns too

Kewcumber · 28/09/2007 21:25

or pinch one from Quokka when she goes to Singapore as her boys won't need it, oops no sorry that was me

Kewcumber · 28/09/2007 21:48

and I don;t watch the Simpsons - is it likely to be "in the night garden" trauma?

sfxmum · 28/09/2007 21:51

Makka Pakka

rosmerta · 28/09/2007 22:47

Personally, I reckon it would be the Hoohaas

Having said that, the last couple nights of INTG, everytime Upsadaisy & Igglepiggle kiss, ds runs over to me and gives me a kiss which is very nice as he doesn't do it very often!

rosmerta · 28/09/2007 22:51

Right am off to bed, this is a very late night for me!

Don't forget, biscuits & cake on offer at mine on Sunday

Paddlechick666 · 29/09/2007 06:59

well, looks like dd has joined the early wakers.

at least we could exact some revenge for the 3am shagging neighbours

think i'll head to hounslow Asda to hunt down some wellies.
