Hi,

Is there anyone around from Exeter? I'm 26 and have a 15 week old daughter, so I've just come out of the exhausting newborn stage and would love to meet up with some other mums

Hello AngelF and h27. I'm about 12 miles out from Exeter, but there are a couple of people nearer than me. I had lunch with essbee and fennel the other day and we were talking about a pre-Christmas meet-up, but I don't think any of us have done anything about it yet. Let's keep this bumped and we'll try and get everyone onto one thread!

Btw, I have three children, ds1 is 7, dd is 5 and ds2 is 3.

h27 · 09/10/2006 13:18

Hi! That will be great if you could let us know as would be good to meet new people in same situations etc!! There does not seem to many meet ups in exeter etc!!! Thanks

AngelF · 09/10/2006 13:39

A meet up sounds good, it would be great to get out and about even more! H27 I'm from the south east too, moved here 18 months ago, I grew up in London and lived in Hastings for 5 years.

hi I live in Exeter, been here 6 months. I have 3 dds age 6, 5 and 1. There are several threads with other Exeter and around mumsnetters including one last week, I'll see if I can post a link....

fennel · 10/10/2006 14:23

...here was last week's thread Exeter and around mumsnetters

what days are you around to meet?

mufti · 10/10/2006 14:24

anyone in devizes?????????

fennel · 10/10/2006 14:25

hi mufti I grew up in Devizes but haven't lived there for ages. my parents are still there though so we go back quite often.

fennel · 10/10/2006 14:26

there are a couple of Devizes mumsnetters, I sometimes lurk on those threads.

mufti · 10/10/2006 14:29

hi fennel, started going to a couple of toddler group,s , but its hardto make real friends. youmay have found that in exeter?

mufti · 10/10/2006 14:29

how do you find them on here?

fennel · 10/10/2006 14:43

There's one called MistressMary who lives in or near Devizes who posts quite often.

My mum helps at a toddler group, at St James church, I think on Friday mornings. Though I have no idea whether it's a good group or not.

It takes a while to make good friends I think. It's a bit easier for me cos I work and have both school and pre-school age children so I have quite a lot of opportunities to meet people altogether. But it's very tiring always meeting new people.

mufti · 10/10/2006 14:45

oh, thanks for that i am minutes away from that church, but havent tried that one yet

mufti · 10/10/2006 14:49

and to angelf, i have just heard of www.netmums.com (on this site), this has local links. you can reply to others as well as putting your own message on the section called "meet a mum". i am trying this.

fennel · 10/10/2006 14:54

Have just spotted another "new to Exeter" thread

new in Exeter want to meet people thread - this one has a baby too.

Is it just me who has this urge to tidy and combine different threads which all say the same thing? I feel compelled to tru and combine it all into one coherent thread. very sad of me.....

AngelF · 10/10/2006 19:23

Thanks for your replies, we do need to compile all these messages into one big one I searched Exeter, but it didn't bring up any messages so I thought I was the only one. I'm around most weekdays for meets, we just do swimming on monday morning and group on tuesday morning.

Just showing my face now that fennel has tidied us all up!

fennel · 11/10/2006 09:34

which group do you go to on a Tuesday AngelF?

I tried a few toddler groups over the summer term but haven't stuck at any for long.

Fridays are my regular day off with my toddler, but sometimes I'm around other times to.

Walnutshell · 11/10/2006 20:12

Hello,
I don't want to hijack this thread but I am (hopefully) relocating to Exeter area (or thereabouts) and could do with advice about good & not-so-good areas - difficult to judge from 200+ miles away! I don't mind starting a new thread, just wanted to make sure someone would read it!!!

fennel · 12/10/2006 09:57

ask away, Walnutshell. Essbee and I both moved here this year, and I think some others have moved here recently too, and mumsnetters were very helpful to us both about areas, schools etc.

where are you coming from, what sort of areas are you thinking of, how old are your children?

h27 · 12/10/2006 12:17

Hi fennel and shell! Its nice to hear that im not the only outsider that has moved to devon! It is such a nice county to be in! Fennel where abouts did you move from? Walnut shell did you want to move to a village area or town? from H27
