Hi,

Is there anyone around from Exeter? I'm 26 and have a 15 week old daughter, so I've just come out of the exhausting newborn stage and would love to meet up with some other mums

ilovedolly - I can't make the Xmas do and am really peeved off about it (even said so on the Xmas meal thread). A new year's replay would be very gratefully received by me.
Baysmum hope you can join Fennel and I this Friday, Dinkys at 10:30am.

ilovedolly · 16/11/2006 20:51

have signed up tentatively for xmas (sort of!!) we could do one in the new year too though. but if its actually at New Year I will be in the 'metropolis'

Baysmum · 17/11/2006 10:23

Hi, sorry its a bit late but cant make this Friday at Dinkys but am going Thurs afternoon next week at 2ish if anyone is interested (Lesleyworm i think u may have been invited already!?). Also cant make that date for xmas meal as my sis is taking me away for the weekend - nice for me but also gutted i cant come - will repeat that msg on other threadxx

fennel · 17/11/2006 16:59

I might be able to make next Thurs at 2pm, for a bit, if people are going anyway.

Am just wondering if it's worth trying alternative dates for the xmas meal as several people seem keen to come but can't make that date. At risk of complicating things horribly, check out the xmas meal thread and see my suggestion, especially Baysmum, Lesleyworm and people who couldn't make the Saturday.

Baysmum · 18/11/2006 20:07

Thanks F, have chkd other thread and STILL cant make it as away all weekend, but nice thought. maybe see u Thurs, will def b there.

lesleyworm · 18/11/2006 23:11

It's a very small world isn't it Baysmum? Yes I am going to Dinkys next Thurs and was invited my someone I met through netmums, so I guess I will see you there!!
Have already emailed Fennel to say that I would love to come to the Xmas meet up if the date is changed, apart from the Sat 9th which I can't make. I will post this on the other thread too.

fennel · 24/11/2006 09:23

If anyone's bored this morning and not stuck in the house with sick children, Lesleyworm and I are meeting at Dinkys at 10.30 this morning. It's our third attempt at meeting up. This time we are going to manage it....

Walnutshell · 28/11/2006 15:00

Hi guys, I'm back and now I'm asking about Tiverton in particular. Went there to look at a couple of houses on Saturday and definitely liked the look of the place. Considering exploring Exeter in a bit more detail plus crediton (poss) and then down the A38... House up for sale so getting serious!! I will also post separately as I know this thread is really for meet-ups.

lesleyworm · 30/11/2006 21:36

Welcome home Walnutshell. Went to a village on outside of Tiverton recently and thought the countryside looked beautiful, though where doesn't in Devon? Still think you need to move to Exeter

Walnutshell · 30/11/2006 22:11

Cheers Lesleyworm. I started a separate thread about Tiverton and nearby areas and generally got the feedback that it's not particularly picturesque (which explains the less expensive housing) but has quite a lot going for it.

I don't want to make a bungle (great word huh?) of this move so I'm still open to all possibilities around the area although as always a limited budget makes things difficult.
We'd like to go back to Tiverton on 9/12 and also have a spy round Exeter... Now, that's a minefield - where to start??? I really don't want to end up anywhere that vaguely resembles some of the less choice parts of Nottingham (!!) but was told by an estate agent in Cullompton that Exeter is expensive - think she was saying 'out of your price range' in the nicest way possible! We see some houses in Exeter we can afford, generally St Thomas which I understand is mixed??? It's tricky when you're not living there!

fennel · 03/12/2006 14:37

I know I've already said this but I would definitely consider St Thomas, we rented there and nearly bought there, and still spend a lot of time there.

Walnutshell · 03/12/2006 20:50

Hi Fennel, hopefully we are going down again this weekend and looking at Tiverton plus the St Thomas area of Exeter. Wish me luck! Cheers x

h27 · 05/12/2006 12:29

Hi there walnutshell! Sorry to come in on conversation i have been on sight before and i live in tiverton and have been here for 3 years! I moved from Kent and had never been to this area before and we brought a house! Some of the areas can be a little rough but generally it is a really nice place to live!! There seems to be lots of people from all over country which is good! If you need to know anything just ask. H27

Crackle · 05/12/2006 13:22

Sorry to butt in here but I wondered if anyone could help. I'm coming shopping to Exeter tomorrow and I wondered if I could still park in Princesshay NCP, the one where you drive up and then walk down the stairs to the precinct.

Is it still there?

We moved away a few years ago when the plans for Princesshay redevelopment were about to start so I'm a bit clueless. I plan to drive down the m5 and come in through Heavitree.

Any help would be wonderful. I'm fine driving as long as I can picture where to go.

Walnutshell · 05/12/2006 15:03

h27, no probs at all. Mind if I CAT you? Fennel has been v helpful so far but it would be nice to ask Q's about Tiverton specifically. AT the moment, looking near river, Tumbling Fields way... mean anything to you???! x

Walnutshell · 05/12/2006 15:03

PS bought a house without visiting first - very brave!!!!!

Spicedfennelwine · 05/12/2006 20:13

Crackle I'd have thought that parking at the Park and Ride at Sowton would be the best bet. Parking and driving in town at this time of year would be grim. I haven't used it but the What's on in Exeter over Christmas says it's 1.50 to park (and, presumably, ride).

Crackle · 05/12/2006 20:34

I would normally agree and I do use my hometown park and ride all the time but I had my car broken into twice at Sowten. I'm not going to risk it again!

Thanks for responding though.....I'm so excited to be coming 'home' for the day.

Spicedfennelwine · 05/12/2006 20:39

You could try the possibly more upmarket Matford park and ride . I go there for car boot sales.

Crackle · 05/12/2006 20:42

Matford catboot is the biggest and best that I've ever been too. Totally fab!

Crackle · 05/12/2006 20:43

Catboot?

Carboot.

Spicedfennelwine · 06/12/2006 09:44

well enjoy your shopping. sorry I rarely park in the city centre, I don't really know the best places. check out the German market on Sidwell st.

h27 · 06/12/2006 11:45

hi walnutshell! i have never used CAT before! But i will be more than happy to help you! Let me know how to get on to that, or i could give you my email (not sure if we are allowed?) H27

Walnutshell · 06/12/2006 19:56

Thanks h27. I think you are allowed to give your email out on boards, not sure. I guess most people don't want to. I'll CAT you after this and mumsnet will forward my email and message directly to your email. Hope that's ok! (Sometimes it takes a while)

Fennel, haven't spoken to you for ages, thought I'd say Hi. xx

Walnutshell · 06/12/2006 19:59

PS h27, in your preferences you have to tick that it's OK for people to CAT you. Once you have, I'll send a msg via mumsnet. Look forward to speaking to you soon, thanks for your help x
