Hi I am new to Mumsnet, I saw the great review in The Sunday Times, and simply had to look! I was just wondering if there are any stay at home Mums in Norfolk? I live in King's Lynn and am at home with my 17 month old son Jack. Jack and I try to get out as often as money permits, with only Richard (hubby) working, not always possible, although I do my little bit with Avon!!
Please contact me and maybe we can organise days out and meets etc.........

hello jodiemay.... I'm in Lynn too... whereabouts are you? I've always be hesitant about meet ups... specially in a small town as my anonymity could be blown! I've just moved here... thinking about going to some mother toddler groups.... know ny good ones?

MrsDoolittle · 04/04/2004 13:11

Hi Jodiemay, I don't live in Norfolk now but I grew up there. My folks live in Wisbech!!
I know King's Lynn very, very well.
Haven't been back for a couple of months though due to finishing work and the long trip. I was due yesterday, so am rather large!!!!!!

jodiemay · 04/04/2004 13:11

I live on Springwood, near the QE Hospital. Where are you? There are a few mother and toddler groups but have found them a bit boring and very young mothers who ask silly questions, so I gave up and since discovering this site, would like to set up our own meet ups etc. How old is your little one? Jack is 17 months and a real terror!

Mrs DoLittle, Wisbech isn't too far from here. I am from Essex originally but like it here! Is this your first baby? I remember my last few days, couldn't wait for it to happen but was dreading it too!

we're in north wootton, dd is 5.5mths....so the terror is yet to come. i did wonder about groups... people keep saying i should join but its not really me! and i dont fancy turning up to a room full of people i dont know.
Wisbech isnt far is it? So what is there to do in King's Lynn?

Spod · 04/04/2004 13:15

JodieMay, I'm from essex too!! whereabouts?

jodiemay · 04/04/2004 13:16

Not a lot to do in King's Lynn at all which is why I think we should see if we can get together a few people and have a tea/coffee morning once a week at each others houses......would be nice to meet other people and get out for a bit too, and maybe when nicer weather is here, go to zoo's etc.
I feel the same about strangers although a bit more confident since starting Avon and Jack's arrival. I am 26, how old are you, are you married?

I was born in Basildon, but lived in Wickford. How bizarre, where were you in Essex?

SenoraPostrophe · 04/04/2004 13:19

How strange. I used to live in King's Lynn. As far as I remember there's nothing much to do but lounge around in the Walks all day. Mind you, I didn't have dd then.

Spod · 04/04/2004 13:19

I'm 29, married for 9 years, on a years maternity break...dh works from home mainly. Do you think there are other king's lynn'ers lurking here?

jodiemay · 04/04/2004 13:20

I hope so, it would be nice to get half a dozen mummies together and meet up......what do you think?

OP posts:
Spod · 04/04/2004 13:20

good old basildon! I'm from Leigh-on-Sea.... dont suppose you went to SEEVIC did you?

jodiemay · 04/04/2004 13:21

No I didn't, is that a college? If it is, I think when I was at work I used to sell my wares there, I was a food sales rep!!!

I am in Oxford now. Unfortunately not alot to do in King's Lynn. I think you'll find yourselves going up to High Norfolk and along the coast. Theres Park farm at Snettisham, the beach at Hunstanton, of course. Sandringham Estate is a nice place to picnic in the Summer. I left before I got married, so obviously I am looking at it form a different perspective.
Have you tried the swimming pool?
I doubt you'll go much in the Fen direction.

jodiemay · 04/04/2004 13:26

I take Jack swimming every Sunday morning with my Dad, and that's ok providing you get there early as later on it's packed and you can't move. Sandringham is great for picnics in summer and also on bored afternoon, for a nice walk and a go on the swings. We tend to go further afield like Colchester zoo, we went last week! Fab day!

Spod · 04/04/2004 13:33

jodiemay · 04/04/2004 13:36

Don't knock it Spod, better than sitting in with nothing to do!

I know there's a few P'boro Mummies about - that's not too far away .... I'm in London now, so a bit of a distance, but grew up in P'boro. Welcome to MN, by the way, and I hope you get a meetup organised!

Janh · 04/04/2004 19:31

Have a look here for child-friendly things to do in Norfolk.
