Haven't been to Fishworks, but I would give a thumbs up to A Cena.

YIPPEEE!!!! Congrats on the scan. I went to FMC for the nuchal in both me pregnancies. They are fab. Sooo much better than the NHS.

Now how the Hell did that happen?!??!!?

I never hit the "post message" even once.

suejonez · 21/08/2006 22:15

Thats great news - I hope you used the disc after all that!

Snowboo - it depends how much you want to pay. The best restaurant locally without any argument (I said WITHOUT ANY ARGUMENT OK?). Is the Glass House in Kew, michlein star but lovely food and lovely relaxed service but about £60 per head if you drink.

Cheaper is the Kew Bistro (is that its name) very traditional french bistro food.

Gravy in Chiswick used to be nice but haven;t been there for a while.

suejonez · 21/08/2006 22:16

Sorry that first line was aimed at Fatfox!

CountessDracula · 21/08/2006 22:18

Le Vacherin on Acton Green is supposed to be fab (at the end of the 94 bus route)

fatfox · 22/08/2006 08:29

SnowBoo

MY favourite is L'Escale, on the Kew Road near the Richmond end (where there is a run of restaurants). Its very very good and reasobaly priced (£25-£27 inlcuding a coffee & wine). The service is excellent too - its a favourite of many friends too, so would recommend.

Suejonez - unfortunatly they couldn't use the dic after all that!!!! I'll bring it with me on 31st along with hard copy of beanie to bore everyone with!!!

Is A Cena Italian????

fatfox · 22/08/2006 08:30

Sowboo

P>S L'Escale is Turkish, but posh Turkish if that makes sense.

quokka · 22/08/2006 09:40

Theres that new place opened on Chiswick hight st with the cow shed. I think its called the chiswick brasserie? Looks gorgeous but quite spennie though, otherwise my neighbour (who is a chief) recommended the Fish Hoek to us in chiswick. The Depot in Barnes is great also.

Uwila · 22/08/2006 09:50

Your friend is a chief? What tribe?

I like fish hoek too, but I don't really think it's fine dinning anniversary celebration material. It's a bit cramped for fine dining. But the fish is good. Hey, perhaps we might venture there for West London meet-up. I'd be sure to make that one!

MrsJohnCusack · 22/08/2006 09:51

ooh ooh ooh I love the Depot - haven't been for ages though

Uwila · 22/08/2006 09:51

Oh, and yes, A Cena is Itallian.

quokka · 22/08/2006 10:01

He's a french chief (gorgeous as well). Usually works in the garden with his shirt off . He doesn't work in a restaurant. He works privately for the french embassy and very rich clients!

quokka · 22/08/2006 10:02

spelling!

quokka · 22/08/2006 10:17

I am smiling from ear to ear. Have just woken up ds2 (7months) and he hasn't stopped smiling and giggling! Its moments like this that I love being a mum

CountessDracula · 22/08/2006 10:21

Or La Trompette of course

fatfox · 22/08/2006 10:52

A Cena has been highly recommended to me as well by several locals, so must be good with all these accolades.

Quokka, your neighbour sounds nice!!!

quokka · 22/08/2006 11:04

your more than welcome to come over for a perve, try and make it a hot day so he's shirtless. I wonder if women say this about my dh? By the way I'm only joking I would never perve on a bloke

MrsBigD · 22/08/2006 11:47

hey quokka what's wrong with an appreciative glance at great male physique? That's not perving at least as long as one can control the urge to droole

Does he do private bookings? cheaply? . Just trying to sort something out for 30 September as wedding anniversary is on 29th but I'll be flying back from Greece. So thought about trying to sort something nice out for the first day back especially as dh would have been lumbered with the kids for a week - isn't he a brave sole!?

I think La Trompette is sister restaurant to the Glasshouse isn;t it?

Oh yes the Depot - scene of many girly lunches in the days when I did girly lunches, other favorite haunt at the time was Sonny's but have only been there once in the past 3 years.

xoxoxo · 22/08/2006 16:31

all this talk of restaurants is making me hungry.

fatfox · 22/08/2006 18:00

Me too

However, I'm at work and only have a cheese sandwich to tempt me

Tutter · 22/08/2006 18:02

am just sticking head around door quickly and haven't read whole thread, but for me la trompette beats the glasshouse...

xoxoxo · 22/08/2006 18:09

just remembered that the place that used to be mcclements in twickenham is now 'bistro' style and much cheaper but same great service etc. It's french and is famous for it's steak tartare (with apologies to you veggies but it is stunning).

Def our 'special occasion' place....

Now I'm starving.....

suejonez · 22/08/2006 18:23

Tutter go wash your mouth out with soap. What about the lovely dishy temporary maitre d' they had last year? He must count for something. And their spring lamb with tomatoes...
