Hi, I’ve not tried Keto before so any advice welcome.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm compiling my shopping list today, any 'must haves'? Also, we usually drink semi skimmed milk in tea, does anyone know if its OK to continue with it?

@pontiouspilates - i seem to keep shopping for things! Main things seem to be coconut oil, coconut yogurt (plain), cream, Coconut milk - basically if it’s a coconut alternative it seems to be ok 😂
I did make an omelette with coconut oil today and I could taste it so I won’t recommend that but it was fine in a stir fry and Thai green curry.

Afternoon all.
Just had my first meal of the day. A couple of low carb crackers with cheese and salad and 2 frankfurters with mayo.
Just had coffee and cream this morning plus water with electrolytes

Milk is quite high in carbs but I love my tea so have full fat milk which is better than the semi. But still not great. Have bought some unsweetened almond milk to try in tea as it is very low carb

Thanks for all of your help. Im off to buy coconut derivatives and eggs! I'll try the unsweetened almond milk in tea, I can't stomach it with full fat milk. Coffee I'm happy to drink without milk. I'm thinking of weighing on the same day each week, is that what you guys are doing?

I’m always on and off the scales but will record on a Monday. Is everyone happy to post weight loss/gain each week to try and keep us motivated?

I've been saying I'm going to low carb for a while, I've put on weight over lockdown (I was already overweight) and this would be a good time to start.

Where have you got all of your info about Keto?

I'll put an click and collect shopping order in for Saturday or Sunday so have a couple of days to prepare.

I just bought some books at the local shop and also online, I’m still struggling through but basically around 3/4 of your meal should be fat, it seems odd but appears to work. Have a read of the science behind it.

I can only weigh after a bowel movement Blush otherwise my weight seems to increase. Sorry to be TMI but yes, happy to register weight change when I can! Grin

I dont know if i have managed to have that 70:20:10 ratio but have still lost weight.
My Sunday weigh in will be my fourth weekly weigh in so touch wood im still close enough to get in to keto often enough to still lose weight.

I use spray coconut oil and can’t taste it.
For coffee I have unsweetened almond milk. Cream also works

Hello! Can I join please? I'm 5'3 😆 and 14 stone 😩 so I look like a weeble. Tried the Cambridge diet and lost 10lbs in 10 days but I just couldn't tolerate the meals 🤢 but I NEED to do something. Got a flipping date on Friday ( why do I do this to myself) and I'm crapping myself that "I'm too fat" I'm going to start on Monday ( it's always Monday 😆) any tips what I should get to prepare? X

Did you buy them in a chemist. What are they called? I can imagine chemist giving me a smirk if i adk for ketone strips?

We've just had a 5 Guys takeaway and I had a bacon double cheeseburger with onions mushrooms and pickles on a lettuce wrap. It was lovely
