Hi all- glad I found this thread- and 5"2 also!! 😂 I have been doing keto for two weeks just because my husband started as he responded brilliantly to Atkins in the past- yes yes to "feels weird". Deliberately adding fat when WW and SW avoids like plague! I have lost about 4lbs but may have been overeating a bit- too zealous with strawberries and cream for example! Signed up to month free trial at diet doctor website - some good info and videos - going to info up!! Don't feel hungry but feel like I have plateaued - @Shinyletsbebadguys your story if amazing - are you still full keto a year down the line or do you have the odd portion of carbs?? And your graph just given me the inspiration to keep going for the next few weeks !!
Has any one tried the the bullet proof coffee- don't know if I'm doing it wrong but completely gagged when I did - could not finish 🤢

LemonPeonies · 29/06/2020 13:16

@JustMoved123 that soup sounds lush 😋 luckily I love broccoli so have it quite a lot atm. So far today I've only had a few coffees, cheese omelette and a few olives. I'm feeling knackered TBH. Little one isn't sleeping great atm so not helping.

JustMoved123 · 29/06/2020 14:23

Welcome @BrokenLink & @sosooveritnow& @LemonPeonies

I don’t fancy the bulletproof coffee at all, I’m trying to like it black.

I think the tiredness is a sign that it’s starting to work as I felt like that and then Better the next day

@lardass88

Ok so another daft question 🤦🏼‍♀️ when looking at the carb content which bit do I count?
The majority of people doing keto track net carbs because it removes the fibre carbs which are not digested. That's how I've understood it!

@Brokenlink - have you a recipe for your savoury cheesecake?

All the 5'2 people (or close to!) - what weight are you planning to get to?

Have had bacon and egg for brunch today amd tonight Diet Doctor Indian Buttered Chicken with Oven Roasted Cauliflower for tea. Can't wait! 😁

lardass88 · 29/06/2020 14:32

@daisychicken thank you

sosooveritnow · 29/06/2020 15:23

@daisychicken how do you workout net carbs? I can't be doing with the whole calculus stuff when looking to stuff my gob!🤪

daisychicken · 29/06/2020 15:43

If it doesnt say on the packet, I look it up on Carb Manager! Tbh, as long as it is a low value for total carbs then I don't worry hugely but I do find tracking on Carb Manager helps me keep my carb count low as its so easy to accidentally go over.

JustMoved123 · 29/06/2020 16:03

Around 9 1/2, (60k) stone would be good for me though I can’t imagine getting that low!

Savoury cheesecake: for the top 250g Lancashire cheese, 300g soft cheese, 6 eggs separated with the whites whisked into stiff peaks, 1 tsp mustard, 150g ricotta. For the base 150g ground almonds, 150g ground walnuts, 100g butter, 1 tsp dried thyme. Combine the base ingredients and press into a 24 cm silicone cake pan and place in freezer whilst preparing top. Whizz up topping ingredients, including egg yolks (but not egg whites) together, then fold in the egg whites. Pour into base. Bake at gas mark 3 for one and a quarter to one and a half hours until set but wobbly. Cool and refrigerate. Perfect for packed lunches.

KetoWinnie · 29/06/2020 16:46

I will no longer be "overweight" if i can get to 9 stone 5

Idprefer 9, but sure im at a 9 stone 13 plateau for 3rd week in a row!

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 29/06/2020 17:00

@BrokenLink that cheesecake sounds amazing!

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 29/06/2020 17:04

@pontiouspilates have a look for lactose free milk for your tea - it has half the carbs of regular milk but tastes the same. Otherwise unsweetened almond milk has virtually no carbs, but you need quite a bit of it to make your tea in any way milky!

I've just reached 9st 3lbs. I'm feeling a lot more comfortable but would like to lose a little more.. I'm just unsure where that point is! Perhaps I will aim for 8st 7lbs but stop when I feel more comfortable in myself.

Healthy BMI for 5'2" ranges from 7st 3lbs to 9st 10 lbs

wildthingsinthenight · 29/06/2020 17:37

That cheesecake sounds great!

LemonPeonies · 29/06/2020 18:00

@daisychicken butter chicken is one of my fave Indian dishes! Did you make it yourself? 😋 I never have! I'm currently eating homemade chicken fajitas but without the onions and the wraps! I also didn't bother with salsa and made my own spice mix so think it's keto friendly enough! Thanks now I want cheesecake 😫

LemonPeonies · 29/06/2020 18:01

Oh and I think I wanna get down to about 8.5 stone as that's when I look my best, I was 7.5 years ago as I was unwell and I looked terrible.

daisychicken · 29/06/2020 18:54

@LemonPeonies - I used Diet Doctors recipe for the Butter Chicken , a great flavour but the chicken was a little dry. The Spiced Cauliflower was perfect though!

Dulcedelecherocks · 29/06/2020 20:02

Can I join you ladies? Been doing keto for 6 months. Have had a few lapses and am not very good with tracking so I just sort it wing it! Have lost 2.5st so far which is slow but steady so I'm sort of happy. Still have at least 1.5 more to lose.

I find my meals become quite boring and I'm always eating the same stuff. I love keto though so I'm determined to carry on.

Dulcedelecherocks · 29/06/2020 20:05

Just a tip - uk labels already show net carbs when it says "carbs" so you don't deduct the fibre. What it shows in the pack is what the carb content is. I believe the advice is to stay under 20g carbs for keto.

KetoWinnie · 29/06/2020 21:03

How do you all keep your carbs under 20 ??

😑

Im tracking on myfitnesspal and if i add even a couple of cherry tomatoes or some cauliflower the, the carbs end up over 20.

Even yoghurt and avocado have some carbs.

I only just figured out that soya milk is much lower in carbs so that might help me.

Not struggling with hunger just the challenge of keeping carbs under 20.

pontiouspilates · 29/06/2020 21:46

markruffallocrumble thank you very much. I'll try both of those milks.
Feeling pretty good at the end of Day 2. Tried some celery with peanut butter as a snack and it had enough crunch to keep me satisfied. What are peoples thoughts on Bulletproof Coffee? Would you have that instead of breakfast and what are the benefits?

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 29/06/2020 22:40

If you like coffee with cream, bulletproof is quite similar. The benefit is that you get some good fats into you and no carbs (cream has a couple of g per 100ml so I guess adding oil and butter instead is lower carb.). By using grass fed butter you also get the nutritional benefits of that. The only annoying thing for me is having to clean out the blender afterwards as a rinse won’t cut it with oil involved. And it isn’t as hot as it could be by the time you’ve whizzed it up. But it’s a lot nicer than it sounds, promise Grin

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 29/06/2020 22:44

20g is very extreme. I’ve lost a stone in a month staying under 50g a day. 20g doesn’t leave a lot of room for veg and dairy as you say, so will end up being very meat and egg heavy, which is good, but not as sustainable long term.

I had a moussaka tonight, made with turnip instead of potato. It was lush and I imagine about 20g carbs all on its own. Adding lunch of a chaffle and the odd creamy coffee, my carbs are probably still very low today - 40g max, so I don’t think 20g is necessary long term for most people.

KetoWinnie · 29/06/2020 22:46

Oh wow, that is encouraginging @markruffalocrumble

I was wondering if there was any point trying.

I think i will raise my limit to 30bso i can add in a few courgettes, mushrooms etc.
