Hi Everyone,

So glad i found this page , Hey Guess what im 5ft 2 lol
Iv been doing Keto for 10 days, prepared and researched Keto to start the diet, so in 10 days i have put on 2 Ib, to say im devasted is an understatement, i did atkins about 10 years ago and lost around 16Ib
Iv just hit the 12 stone mark which is far to heavy for my small frame
Im not sure where im going wrong, I do think im maybe having to many coffee with double cream and ( half spoon sugar ) a day, probualy about 10 cups, ( im basically using my Carbs on halfspoon sugar and maybe going over the allowance) im also stuck at home
( furloughed ) im def not hungry and don't eat after 8 pm at night and not before 12 noon the next day
appreciate any help or advice

2lbs fluctuation isn’t a lot but in saying that most people do lose weight in the first 10 days of keto.

So....you are still putting sugar in your coffee and you are having 10 a day. It’s not ‘just’ the quantity of sugar you are having which is probably an issue, but also that you are clearly spreading this throughout the day.

Keto is about lowering sugars to a point your body uses fat for its energy. You are most likely not allowing your body to do this because of the amount and frequency of the sugar hit you are giving it.

Are you tracking your carbs? How much are you having daily?

You say you are having all your carbs in your coffee, but it’s almost impossible to do that unless you are eating just straight steak. Carbs are naturally found in veg etc.
Let us know what a typical day looks like and we might be able to offer some suggested tweaks.

Carb intake in the last 10 days, is daily small portion of Cauliflower and broccoli bake or cabbage/butter i would have this with my main meal with chicken/steak or a protein around 6 pm

Lunchtime i have a ( Cheese and Onion Keto Bread roll ), which i have made myself main ingredient Ground Almond/ baking powder/ cheese/ onion, so i know what's in it, on the roll i will have hamburger/cheese or Tuna with full fat Mayo

That's all i really eat, as i find im not hungry, I don't have any coffee after 5pm and i don't eat between 8pm and 12 noon , which brings me back to Cream/ Sugar, is it too much ? i could try and drop the sugar, but i couldn't drop both Cream and Sugar, or is there a friendlier version of sugar and cream, id say im going through at least 300ml a day of double cream ( just to give you an Idea )

Yeh sadly every spoon of sugar is a message to keep on sending glucose to your fat cells.
The insulin level doesnt get a chance to fall (?)

One of the youtubers i watch dr becky gallaspie has a video called "why you cant be a little bit keto"

I had black coffee this morning and it was ok. Have i trained myself to like black coffee! 😮

Yipe its def the sugar, iv just looked at the back of the bag, and a teaspoon ( which i take ) is 4g of carbs alone, so my sugar intake could be easily 60g a day, iv just swapped ( now ) to powdered Stevia, which i
take less that a third of a teaspoon and carbs a practially 0g on that amount, until i can hopefully ween myself off. i will still use the
( double Cream )

I actually can't wait to get back to work, where my coffee intake will be max 4 a day

I use stevia instead of sugar. I think stevia is ok? Can anyone confirm?

I'm not a Keto expert but I guess if you are having 300ml of cream it's probably around 1000 calories, plus the sugar your calories count will be too high, if you switched to stevia carbs might be ok, but calorie count would still be too high 🤔
Have you tried unsweetened almond milk in coffee?

Fasting today 🌞 Will only briefly feel waves of 😥 poor me hunger coming and going between 17.30 & 19.00
But by 19.00 I definitely would have eaten already normally.

Baileyrose just a thought, but if you have to try to get used to using the sweetener, is it worth just getting used to nothing at all? Not judging, genuinely wondering if it would work the same?

@ketoifwinnie How was the fast? I'm on holiday next week and thinking about trying one when I get back as a 'reset' I'm intending to stay as low carb as possible when away but doubt I'll manage fully keto as I'm staying with family.

Hi yall, the fast was fine, easy! Ienjoy the break from counting net carbs 🤣 36 hours but i swear only 1-2 hours of it is uncomfortable. And this morning, i had soya milk in my coffee. Bit higher in carbs than almond milk, what a treat!

On tuesday though i felt a bit sick. Trapped wind, constipation, followed by what felt like diarrhoea.

I feel like im going to go to up 30 net carbs for a while. More vegetables. Ill keep an eye on my weight.

Name change, but I"m doing something else right now. I'm still off bread pasta rice white flour sugar but im not counting anything in a non starchy vegetable from now on. Because im going to be having more leeks, raspberries, onions, mushrooms etc, i can eat a bit less meat and a bit less cheese. Although i love cheese and it fills you up. And I know your body can tell you you're hungry after weightloss. So I will be keeping an eye on scales.

Can I still pop in to thread, even though Im not keto? 😍

Hi everyone. Hope you're all doing ok. I am now on the penultimate day of my 2 week keto challenge and I've lost 8 pounds!!! I'm so happy. I can't believe I've lost this much weight eating cheese it's like some kind of miracle. I don't feel like I can sustain keto long term so I am planning on doing the same as you @WinnieLowCo. No bread, rice, pasta, but more veg and some fruit plus occasional potatoes. Please can I keep hanging around too???

@WinnieLowCo and @ladyflower23 - probably a good way to manage weightloss in the long term. Can always cut back if you find you stall.

Well my scales still refuse to tell me I've lost any weight.. been exactly a month now but my jeans are feeling looser around my waist so something must be happening!

Great news @ladyflower23, big loss 😀 i am still very much on the wagon. No bad carbs, no wine, but happily not counting out raspberies, weighing leeks, garlics, onions or mushrooms as i throw them in to the pan, so carbs galore. 😮 Also I had about 70 gm of chick peas with my dinner tonight. I did weigh tem. They were so filling. I could reduce that to 40g and still feel full. It is not just meat that fills you luckily. Last night i had about 60g of butter beans. God knows how many net carbs. Id guess im under 100 though. The jump in carbs hasnt made me feel bad.

I had got down to 9.2lb the day after my fast last thurs, so i hope 2 days of not counting carbs hasnt brought me back up to ten stone ten tomorrow morning!! 🤣

@daisychicken that happened to me to, frustrating but the visceral fat going first is a good thing. Scroll back to page 1 or 2 and see hamsterarse's graph. Loose jeans a good thing!

I married kondoed all my 'thin' jeans! Oh well. I should have had more faith. But I was in such a rut.

I weighed myself this morning and have lost another llb even though I'm not even doing keto anymore. So that's reassuring. Had a slight irrational fear that my body would 'read' chickpeas as malteasers!

I'm so happy as I have found an unsweetened almond milk that works in my milk frother - Almond Breeze by Blue Diamond! I will definitely be replacing cows milk with it now.

I've totally fallen off the wagon this weekend and had pork pie and chips yesterday and a chicken sandwich on white bread today. Both occasions because we went out for lunch with relatives. My stomach is bloated and I have brain fog again after being free of both symptoms for the last 3 weeks. Back to keto tomorrow.......

does anyone have cheat days?? Is it bad to have a bag of crisps???

Hi, just found you! I've been doing keto for a few weeks now, mainly following the advice of Dr Boz on YouTube. I'm still learning. No spectacular weight loss so far but progress.And mainly I feel much much better - no energy slumps after eating.

I put electrolytes in my water to help with the sodium balance - and I eat seaweed to stop the salt cravings! Also Cheesies popped cheese is a good substitute for crisps. In fact I am getting them delivered on subscription.
