I lost all my excess weight two years LCHFing. It's crept back on over the past year as ive reaching for the frackers, been, eating the kids chips etc. Carb creep and not tracking...means I'm 15lbs over where I like to be ☹️

So, I need to reboot.

I've started tracking today. My aim is to have less than thirty grams carbs a day...

I am armed with double cream, babybel and dark chocolate.

Anyone want to join me?

Click link to Diet Doctor video I think it's excellent. Certainly that changed my thoughts on eating forever! (He is fairly easy on the eye too ☺️)

Great, thanks for the recommendation. I will watch the Ted talk.

Linzdreamz · 12/06/2018 12:47

I have checked yesterday afternoon and was back on Ketosis. But then read about " you don't have to be on Ketosis to loose weight " somewhere BC thread and was glad. Anyway as you I am waiting until Monday to do a proper WI. Need to meal plan properly too. I tend to eat Scrambled/fried Eggs every morning and then adjust with what is there in fridge for next meal. Is peanut butter OK? I tried to make cinnamon roll from diet doctor, but was wondering I could add PB to it to make it more easier to shape up :)
What do you guys snack on? I know it is a dangerous territory ;)

50andgoingstrong · 12/06/2018 17:01

Day ✅ 33 carb (8g fibre)

Hi Linz not sure about peanut butter but I think like nuts, it's ok in moderation.

I snack on babybel cheese, almonds, celery sticks or pepper sticks and mayo, Ham ... Although some days I don't actually snack. In fact I can do a 16hr fast a couple of times a week with no hunger!

For example, just had dinner early: steak fried in butter, cream sauce with egg and broccoli. Not planning to eat again until breakfast tomorrow at 7.

If you eat enough fat you don't feel like snacking. It's the weirdest thing to get used to if you are a boredom eater like I am! But also great if you're busy and out and about as you don't need to carry food with you all the time, it also makes it easier to say no to stuff like biscuits etc

Day 6!

OP posts:
AnnaT45 · 12/06/2018 17:24

Ah welcome to zoti im and daff! It's great to have more of us!

I really like the Bootcamp threads but I can't keep up!

Snacks I have cheese, ham, carrots, but as 50 says you tend to not need to snack like before. I tend to have a brew if I get bored now!

Good plan not weighing 50 I just need to focus on this being a lifestyle change and not a fad.

Watched the truth about carbs. In my pregnancies i was relatively healthy and I craved rice.... that weight gain now makes some sense!!

Zoti · 12/06/2018 17:41

Thanks AnnaT45.
How soon did it take for people to see the difference in their weight? I have tried not weigh myself as I did not want to caught up in that cycle. So how long before you feel it truly in your clothes. I am feeling less bloated so that it already making me feel good!

Linzdreamz · 13/06/2018 11:57

That snack list looks good 50, Thanks. I do that IF- dinner around 6 and then breakfast around 10.30am Though I tend to drink a coffee in the morning to get things moving. that haven't done anynegative effects on me. ( I can't stand egg in coffee-bullet proof one, haven't tried that though).
I have been a boredom eater for a very long time and honestly there in no hunger pangs these days , like I used to do. But then it is really tricky when everyone have snacks with their evening milk/tea. If I have dinner ready by then it is fine, else I am so tempted. :( hence the cinnamon rolls from Diet Doctor, for occasional treat. I have been reaching for a coffee like you do too Anna, I only ever had one cup of coffee in the morning before this woe.
welcome Zoti and daff. This is my first time on LCHF (on week5 now with a few bad days on week4) , so probably because of that, but I lost lot of weight in the first week and was able to see that on clothes. Didn't change a dress size yet, but mum-tum is going into my Trousers/Jeans properly these days than hanging half of it over the elastic band Wink

Zoti · 13/06/2018 12:39

Ha ha, Linzdreamz. I have a 'mum tum' too that needs reducing drastically!

Only had coffee with milk (no honey like i usually do) this morning and then went for a spin class. No pangs of hunger felt. very unusual for me. So will now have lunch of eggs, mushrooms, and broccoli. One step at a time for me. This is a big deal as I normally eat all day long:(

AnnaT45 · 13/06/2018 13:22

Zoti I would say three weeks to really see it. But I lose as soon as I start it. Well done on the spinning! I've been starting to workout again to get my tummy toned!

The lack of hunger is so odd. I normally eat loads but just don't fancy it most of the time!

Am out for dinner but generally find it quite easy when I go out. Just swap the carbs for buttered green veg normally!

Zoti · 13/06/2018 14:29

yes, still getting used to putting a spoonful of coconut oil or butter to stir fry my veg. i keep thinking of the high calories in fat. I know i have to get over it......

50andgoingstrong · 13/06/2018 17:34

Day 7 ✅ 44g carbs ( 16g fibre)

Take it day by day that's the best approach. It took a couple of weeks to feel a loss, maybe 4 before I saw a difference in clothes but the bloat you mention disappeared in the first week.

Periods are better and no pmt!!

OP posts:
50andgoingstrong · 13/06/2018 17:36

zoti it takes time to get over fat avoidance after years of low fat dogma, but you must eat fat if you're cutting carbs. It's low carb high fat this woe.

It's actually good for you. You will feel the difference!

Can I join in? I need some help and inspiration.... my STBEx isn’t helping as he keeps cooking ready meals and stuff that’s not ‘on plan’ as it were. I want to make sure all the meals I’m in control of are ok and low carb.

Zoti · 13/06/2018 19:56

you are a genius, 50andgoingstrong! I hadn't thought at all about the positive effects it could have on periods. Another good reason to stick to it.

That said I had strawberries with my full-fat natural yogurt. I know no fruits at all in the first two weeks but that is proving hard. the only fruit i have are strawberries and only nuts i have are almonds.....
How much slower will my progress be then, I wonder?

50andgoingstrong · 14/06/2018 16:34

Welcome Giraffy ignore your stbxh and have your own stash of low carb high fat nibbles. You'll soon find it easy to refuse ready meal shit!

Strawberries are ok in moderation zoti especially with high fat cream or yogurt.

Day 8 ✅ I had 54g carbs but 26g of fibre. Most of today's carbs come from celery, pepper, avocado (9g in half!!) blackberries.

Starting another 16hr fast now.

OP posts:
Zoti · 14/06/2018 17:25

How do you measure your carbs in Veg? I have been eye-balling it so far as I have stuck to salads, broccoli, and cauliflower.

AnnaT45 · 14/06/2018 17:32

Welcome girafy!

I did so well last night at dinner. I didn't ANY BREAD!!!! First for me!

Been in meetings all day and have barely eaten today but had some smoked salmon and avocado at lunchtime.

Well done 50! You're so good. I don't think that food is bad so you need not worry. I think if it's coming from white pasta maybe!

50andgoingstrong · 14/06/2018 18:38

I use MFP to track my food.
it shows the carbs, fat protein etc.

Well done on ditching the bread Anna 👍🙂👍

Zoti · 14/06/2018 19:15

Thanks, 50andgoingstrong. Yes, I have the app and have used it before but requires weighing everything before you can get the macros (understandably). I will get back on it.

Linzdreamz · 14/06/2018 20:35

Do you weigh food before you enter on MFP 50? you are doing very well. I am new to MFP, tend to just select one similar to what I am looking for, but that means no definite count of Carb like you do. I only buy/eat greens and Mushroom these days, but would like to do like you do.
Well done Anna for No Bread, mine going good too. I am better when my hubby is not working from home( that crunch of his snacks makes me want to eat something ;(

50andgoingstrong · 14/06/2018 22:31

I don't tend to weigh veg just look for the approximate amount i.e. Avocado 0.5 or one courgette, 3 strawberries, cup of spinach. I tend to overestimate just in case.

I’m back with a vengeance (sort of Grin)

I started again on Monday and I’m back to my pre-holiday weight so most of what I put on must have been water.

I’ve also started an exercise class for the first time in many year. It’s 30 mins of yoga/Pilates inspired stretching, 30 mins pole workout and 30 minutes burlesque routines. It’s really hard work but I love it so far.

Zoti · 15/06/2018 08:33

Banging on - Pole exercise and burlesque sounds interesting - way to go.

50 - I will try using MFP today - I had resisted as I didn’t want to be fixated on calories as I did before as lchf is meant to take away the need to count calories? Right?

AromaticSpices · 15/06/2018 09:22

Hi - can I join? I've been on the Bootcamp but just not been able to stick to it this time round; lots going on with work, house stuff, 2DCs.... the usual really. I am going on holiday in 10 weeks and really need to make a serious dent in my weight before then. I am by far the heaviest I've been and I know low carb works for me IF I'm in the right headspace. I also found the bootcamp threads move too quickly to keep up with and I find myself sort of zoning out of them.

But this is me officially saying I AM IN THE RIGHT HEADSPACE to do this.

Today is my day one. I have all the right foods etc. I tend to do 16:8 fasting, which I find helps me - so won't be eating until lunchtime.
