Morning all

I've started a new thread as the first one was taking so long to load (and also because I kept forgetting to change my Christmas name each time I posted!)

Here's the spreadsheet

@TheSoundofMusic23 you are definitely on it! I've put in your 8lb loss, as I can't see why that wouldn't have been a real loss, but feel free to change if you need to.

Great to hear that things are going well for you @MetabolicallyComplicated - especially re the bleeding.

None of you has posted your weight on the spreadsheet. Do you want me to remove you?

Hi BIWI thanks for the reminder I weighed in yesterday but forgot to add it to the spreadsheet.
I lost 7lbs last week, which I'm really delighted with as I feel a lot less bloated already.
I know that a big chunk of it will be water but it's still a nice motivating way to start this short BC.

I made chaffles in my mini waffle maker at the weekend (which by the way was bought for this purpose and has never had standard waffle batter in it) topped it with bacon and a fried egg which made a really satisfying brunch.

I've been thinking about the goals for this BC - I started off wanting to loose half a stone and stick to being AF for the whole month as well as making sure a drink my water everyday.

The last two goals still stand but I think I'll need to rethink how much more weight to lose!
I'd love to aim for a stone, but know that weeks 2 &3 are much slower in terms of seeing the scales move, so if I can lose 4 pounds that will put me in the next stone bracket so I'd be chuffed with that.
Long term I have another 3 stone to go so I'm going to work out my next mini targets to get me there.

I'm so pleased with a 6 pound loss for the first week, I don't think I’ve ever lost that much in a week. That takes me back to my ore Christmas weight. Frightening to put that much on so quickly but relief to know going back to bootcamp sets me off on the right track. I think another poster said the same. So I know it losses will slow down massively now but I feel I'm on the right track with this eating. I'm probably snacking too much but for now I'm just happy I'm not eating or craving chocolate/sugar! (and I'm also enjoying lovely food including lots of veg).

Prinnny · 09/01/2024 18:37

Well today I’ve had a lovely meal out of filet steak, asked for veg instead of chips which turned out to be roasted peppers, red onion, broccoli and courgette so I was very pleased! I fasted until 2pm when I had that and still full now so it’s water only until lunchtime tomorrow I think. I did a kettlebells class this morning too so all in all a successful day!

Metabolicallycomplicated · 09/01/2024 19:04

I’ve been a bit down in the dumps the past 24 hours but food wise I’m doing fine. I’ve got a horrid cold on top of anaemia and everything else going on and it just feels like someone somewhere with a voodoo doll is having a right good time giving me a prod. I am feeling extremely sorry for myself!

Yesterday I went to bed early so didn’t eat dinner, then didn’t eat today until 1pm so 24 hours extended fasting. I cannot believe that even at 1pm today, I wasn’t actually hungry but felt I ‘should’ eat given it had been a while.

Im due to have dinner now and again I’m just not hungry. Usually when I’m poorly I’m absolutely ravenous for all the carbs but the opposite is happening. I’m not sure if that’s ketosis of the cold.

Food the last 2 days:

Yesterday:
b: 16:8
l: fried halloumi salad with whipped feta dressing
d: skipped

today:
b: 16:8
l: left over moussaka and salad, then had a spoon of peanut butter for ‘pudding’ and I’m not sure why.
d: stir fry prawn in satay

@Metabolicallycomplicated I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks Charlie, I’ll be fine I’m just being dramatic!

RooRooCooChoo · 09/01/2024 20:04

Have managed to stay strong while out on manoeuvres. I stopped M&S on the way to my destination and loaded up a huge cool bag. Thankfully the weather is playing along - it's actually colder outside the cool bag than inside!

I ate breakfast today, unusually, and fully regretted it. My hotel seems unable to manage scrambled eggs that aren't so rubbery they'd bounce 🤮. Tomorrow I'll avoid.

Today I ate
B: rashers of bacon
L: M&S prawn cocktail and super greens salad
D: M&S bang bang chicken, Greek salad and chorizo chips.

Main takeaways: should have bought shares in M&S, and I may well come out of this week wrapped in cellophane!

BIWI · 09/01/2024 20:17

Yes, I'm always horrified about the amount of plastic M&S products use!

Glad you managed to sort out a decent-sounding menu though.

3lbs off for me this week, I don’t seem to have great whooped like I used too when I first started low carb a few years ago.
Another gym session today so keeping up with my goal of 3-4 sessions a week.

Saltysausage · 09/01/2024 20:25

I’ve just seen that M&S have started selling cheese clouds, hoping they are bootcamp friendly!

BIWI · 09/01/2024 20:28

3.5g carbs per 100g and only cheese as an ingredient - they're fine!

Saltysausage · 09/01/2024 20:29

Will add them to next weeks Ocado shop!

LilianaVikavanovich · 09/01/2024 20:31

Hope you feel better soon @Metabolicallycomplicated , I’ve had a filthy cold on and off since early December , it just won’t go
Very annoying

Apart from that ,I had a nice day , went shopping and lunch
I had a really lovely shakshuka , just a tad too spicy but goodness knows I needed warming up , it’s very cold here
Had salmon fillet , creamed kale and pan fried leeks and mushrooms

Then , made a chocolate cake as DS is staying for a couple of days from tomorrow, and like a fool ate 3 maltesers as I decorated the top

A true example of mindless eating

prettybird · 09/01/2024 20:57

Dh and I had a lovely supper of creamy scrambled eggs with shallots and tomatoes alongside some smoked salmon (half of a pack of smoked salmon pieces if bought at Christmas).

Very filling! Smile

NotDonna · 09/01/2024 21:37

Good day here too with better water intake. Pilates this morning, an hours dog walk, no bfast and lunch around 3pm - was just busy.
bfast - peppermint tea
lunch - chicken, cabbage, Dijon mustard
dinner - homemade creamy Tuscan chicken & cabbage

venusandmars · 09/01/2024 21:51

@Metabolicallycomplicated we may be avoiding carbs, but there is nothing in the 10 rules that says we can't be mardy or petulant or dramatic. As with everything else in this woe - just go with it. Stomp, grump, complain, retreat to bed. But come out the other side with lightness of humour and body.

SamuelWhiskey · 09/01/2024 22:42

Does anyone know if the srsly low carb bread will make a half decent toastie?

BIWI · 09/01/2024 22:50

IME it doesn't make great toast, but I've made a cheese toastie with it, in the frying pan, and that was ok - using fat to fry the bread definitely helped. In the toaster, it goes a bit dry and cardboard-y.

OP posts:
BIWI · 09/01/2024 22:50

(From memory I buttered the slices of bread on the outside to fry them)

Thanks @BIWI . Will give it a go!

BonnieBairn · 10/01/2024 04:17

I've only started this week as we spent last week at my in laws. First NSV for me tonight. I suffer chronic insomnia and would normally spend the night eating the contents of my cupboards......not tonight, I had some roast chicken with buttered spring greens at about 2am and that's it. Feeling pretty pleased, if a little tired 😴

Metabolicallycomplicated · 10/01/2024 06:21

Morning all.

Food planned for today:

B: 16:8
L: left over stir fry from last night
D: Salmon cooked in butter and lemon with fried green beans
S: finally remembered to stick some continental meats in the dehydrator so might have some if they’re ready later.

blackteaplease · 10/01/2024 06:28

Argh, I fell off the wagon last night. My 14 year old has hit peak teen and after yet another altercation I I had "just one" piece of dark chocolate which was a mistake as I then couldn't stop eating. Feeling thoroughly ashamed today and determined to think of a better stress strategy than treating myself like a bin.

potas · 10/01/2024 07:26

My main aim with boot camp is to get back into the low carb mindset.
I know low carb works for me. I started 3 years ago and lost a stone then maintained successfully. It totally changed the way I look and think about food. It was quite freeing to not have to worry about resisting cakes and chocolates at work and home because I genuinely lost interest in them. Now I find a lot of sweet food too sweet and biscuits leave an unpleasant after taste.
I've slipped into having a few more carbs, either as a treat or while having family meals. The odd slice of bread or roast potato. And then too much wine! So it feels good to get back om track.
I'd also like to get a better balance on the low carb foods I eat. I'm veggie and I do eat a lot of veggies but to much fibre causes bloating and discomfort. So I rely a lot of eggs, soya yoghurt, cheese and nuts.
Any ideas on other good veggie foods would be much appreciated.
