Morning all

I've started a new thread as the first one was taking so long to load (and also because I kept forgetting to change my Christmas name each time I posted!)

Here's the spreadsheet

@TheSoundofMusic23 you are definitely on it! I've put in your 8lb loss, as I can't see why that wouldn't have been a real loss, but feel free to change if you need to.

Great to hear that things are going well for you @MetabolicallyComplicated - especially re the bleeding.

Thanks for the new thread Biwi.
I've been brave and got on the scales. Am 2lb down, despite my disastrous week (have had a 9 day totm, headache for 2 weeks and generally not been in the right headspace). But I said on the other thread, I'm back on it seriously now.

I think gammon for dinner tonight - not sure what to do with it though as I can't cook it in Coke or smother it in honey!

We always have cauli cheese with gammon and I just roast it as none of my family are keen on glazes anyway

EffortlessDelegation · 08/01/2024 11:14

I want to get another 8lb off by my birthday which is in 6 weeks or so, this will need me to carry on past the three weeks going by my track record and we have two other family birthdays in between which could be challenging.

prettybird · 08/01/2024 11:16

I'm really pleased to be able to declare a 5lb loss Smile - and that was only starting on Wednesday (or was it Thursday?) Shock Down to 11st 11lb.

My next interim target having already got below 12st Wink is to get into the "3 digits" territory (ie below 11st 10lb).

My target for this mini Boot Camp is to get back to where I got to just before Christmas, which was 11st 8.25lb.

Stretch target is to get below 11st 7lb.

Longer term target is to get below 11st. Got to 11st 4lb before going skiing in mid March last year and even lower in August in preparation for going to South Africa for our 25th wedding anniversary but the shock of my dad's death sent me off track Sad - not immediately but longer term Confused

But the good thing about Boot Camp is that it also helps mood Smile Not saying I'm totally out of the woods yet, but the oscillations are trending upwards Smile

I also started back on my exercise regime today (a work out designed for women/female hormones from Metabolic Renewal, including the burn out "extra" 5 minutes): the first time for well over a month (although I did manage an average of over 10,000 steps/day in December Halo)

ooooh now I'm craving gammon and cauli cheese... YUM.

Personally, I cook gammon in the pressure cooker with stock, cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg in the broth, then smother it in wholegrain and french mustard to roast it. It's not the same as honey roast but it's still nice.

Food for the day today:

B: Double cream coffee (just fancied something)
L: Fried halloumi and chop salad with garlic and mint yoghurt for dipping
D: Left over moussaka and salad (need to use up the last of the chop salad from last week)

Oh - sorry! Cross posted! If you're going to use your namechange, I'll make that change on the spreadsheet though, as it's less confusing. (I'm easily confused Grin)

Are you applerumleandcustard?

Edited

Yes , I was
I’m now less stodgy and more glamorous 👍
Ever hopeful

@Metabolicallycomplicated (and others): for those of you with challenging objectives, this is a useful meme.

Someone on these threads ( @mimosa ?) once said that her boss had told her something similar when she had demurred about the time it would take to get a qualification: he'd reminded her that in 3 (or whatever) years time, 3 years would still have passed and she could either have her qualification or not..... Confused

That resonated with many of us!

You can reduce your BMI. Give yourself smaller targets, so that you can see that you're progressing. Smile

Some great losses here, looking forward to stepping on the scales tomorrow at the gym. Not weighing at home stops me getting too obsessive!

My goal is Tudor the weight trend to keep going down and to stick to both low carb and exercising.

Redhothoochycoocher · 08/01/2024 12:07

I'm currently at the bottom end of 'obese' on the BMI chart. To get to 'overweight' I'd need to lose 10lbs so by the end of the 3 weeks I'd like to lose 5lbs so that I'm half way there 😃 I'd also like to feel a bit comfier in my clothes, work trousers in particular are so snug at the moment.

Thanks @BIWI for the reminder to set a shorter term goal.

Magnolia82 · 08/01/2024 12:11

Well done, everyone.

I'm not too sure what a realistic mini goal is for me. I would ultimately like to lose about 10 pounds (maybe slightly more).

I posted last week about the struggle of being short, not having loads to lose but finding myself really stuck and not losing. However, I do know this WOE is so good for me in just generally how I feel, etc.

Down 3lb which I'm pleased about. I don't usually lose much in the first week of bc, but this 3lb loss shows just how awful my December was!

My goal is to keep going with dry January and with drinking all the water. I like quirky numbers - things that relate to my age / birthdate / the actual date. If I manage to lose 4lb over the next week I'll be 151 on 15/1. That might not be possible but at least I won't be 161 on 16/1, and that was definitely where I was heading!

RooRooCooChoo · 08/01/2024 12:27

I'm going skiing in 3 weeks' time. This time last year, my (horrendously expensive and therefore irreplaceable) ski gear was so tight I really struggled to do it up. So my goal for this bootcamp is to slide into my ski trousers on the morning of the 27 January, button with ease and walk to the boot room without being hyper-aware of the sound of my thighs rubbing together as I walk (reliving last year's trauma as I type).

As an associated goal, I'd also like to be fit enough to follow my super-fit friends down all the black runs without my legs turning to jelly. This is probably less attainable, but the cycling to and from work and weights training should help.

As a longer-term goal, losing 15lb would put me at the lower end of my pre-pregnancies weight. I'm not sure it's actually possible as I was very rarely there even when a young'un, but worth a try. 😁

CocktailQueenie · 08/01/2024 12:32

Nearly a 2lb gain which is disappointing but hopefully a loss is a poo or whoosh away as @cathyandclaire said! Will carry on and drink more water in the form of mint tea which may help. Small goals are to move more and worry less what the scales say and to stay positive despite feeling a bit lumpy and frumpy. Did aqua aerobics this morning which is lots of fun and I usually keep a silly grin on my face for the whole class apparently. Also walked the dog as usual which is always a joy.
Well done to all the losers and all on this bootcamp.

venusandmars · 08/01/2024 12:42

@mamma1982 on the previous thread you were asking about ideas to keep meals simple... I often make a big omelette fried shallots, whatever left over cooked veg there are, sliced mushrooms, chopped ham, and eggs mixed cheese and cream. I usually only eat half and microwave the other half the next day for lunch. I batch cook lamb mince with tomatoes as a base for bolognaise, moussaka, keema curry etc and batch cook mashed celeriac and buttery leeks. I chop cauliflower / broccoli / green beans / courgette into florets or slices, rub with curry sauce and roast in the oven. @BIWI's cheese sauce is so simple, no need for time consuming and utensil heavy roux - even easier if you use pre-grated cheese (although look at the carb count because it often contains some potato starch).

@LowCarbingIn2024 you got great advice about intermittent fasting. I usually miss out on breakfast as I find my willpower and determination are stronger in the mornings, plus if I get busy I just don't notice the time passing. I think mixing things up are good for I/F too, so doing it a few days a week and not everyday can work well. @cathyandclaire here is the butter chicken recipe I use. Plus this one for keto naans. The naans freeze well too.

Butter Chicken (Murgh Makhani)

A super easy, full flavoured Butter Chicken recipe that rivals any restaurant. Aromatic golden chicken pieces in an incredible curry sauce.

Thank you so, so incredibly much for this, it absolutely resonates and I’m going to use this as a bit of a mantra when my motivation slumps.

I've just had a delicious brunch of a slice of toasted Schneiderbrot <4g carb per slice, topped with crispy bacon. What a treat! Accompanied by creamy coffee.

Balanced out later in the day with a vegetable curry with a side of spinach.

cathyandclaire · 08/01/2024 12:52

Many thanks @sheepsdream - that's a great resource. Thanks also @venusandmars, I will make that this weekend it looks delicious. Will do a cauliflower side dish instead of the ( fabulous looking) keto naans this time, once I start on the substitutes I'm on the almond muffins twice a day!

Baystard · 08/01/2024 13:32

I've thought alot about a short term goal because I don't want to weigh. If I weigh there is too much chance of self-sabotage or fixating on the number.

I think my short term goal is to need to wear a belt with my favourite walking trousers since at one point last year I couldn't run in them if my phone was in the pocket, because the weight of my phone caused them to fall down Grin I don't know if that will be achievable in one BC but fingers crossed.

Possibly I might be better making the goal to stick with LCHF for a period of time irrespective of weight/size, as I need to work out how to switch to maintenance without going mad.

All the water today as I didn't drink enough yesterday.

SamuelWhiskey · 08/01/2024 13:35

I'm just 1lb down this week. I've been away from home and being cooked for has been tough, so I guess it isn't unexpected. Pleased to be home now and in control of my own menu!

I've just had a mozzarella stuffed chicken breast with some roasted veg (last night's leftovers) and planning salmon and salad for dinner

PurpleWhirple · 08/01/2024 13:56

Afternoon all, very chuffed with a 7lb loss. I have loads to lose (BMI currently 45.6) so I think my short term target of a stone during January is very doable - so another 7lbs over 3 weeks, not another stone.

I have a big holiday at Easter with 2 long haul flights so I'm really focused on shifting enough weight that I feel more comfortable in an airplane seat. My children are growing up and I've been putting off trips like this because I'm too fat. I'm too scared of the embarrassment of potentially not fitting in an airplane seat or on a rollercoaster. No more. I'm making the change for the last time. if it doesn't happen and I'm embarrassed then so be it. I don't want to let this affect me so much any more.

i have a friend who confided to me just before christmas that she's just had weight loss surgery. it really shocked me as she is probably a bit over her ideal weight but is nowhere near obese. i would LOVE to be as thin as she is. listening to her talk about the lifelong changes to her eating that shes had to commit to made me realise that I'm never going to be in that place mentally. i need to
do this the old fashioned way. i havent set any targets beyond 3 stone by easter. its not easy when you have about 10 stone to go to get to a healthy weigh.

TheOnlyMrsW · 08/01/2024 14:21

@mamma1982 frozen vegetables are also your friend........I try to cook as much from "scratch" as possible but especially with omelettes etc a handful of frozen mushtooms/peppers/spinach is so easy to grab from the freezer without worrying about the mess or time taken to chop just a few pieces. If I have time I'll make a larger version and chop myself but it's a lifesaver if you've only a few minutes.
@Metabolicallycomplicated I've never been a fan of aubergine - no idea why but I've always had the idea that it would taste slimy - but your moussaka might just change my mind, it looks amazing!!!!!
In terms of short term goals I'm going to stick to my 7lb for this BC, I know I've lost 5 already but at 47 and slap bang in the middle of peri it's really hard for me to lose even a lb most weeks. Also to get to the end of my list of things that I should have done last week on my week off , not strictly BC but if I keep off the booze and sleep properly then I should have some extra energy to actually do the things instead of just write them down!

SpinningTops · 08/01/2024 14:43

Checking in for the week. We'll done on all the loses.
I'm down 1.8lb but had a change of scale as original broke. So might be slightly different.

I love the look of that moussaka. I'm adding ingredients to this week's shop!

Almahart · 08/01/2024 14:46

Have added my weight now @BIWI, I think I had been looking at the wrong spreadsheet. Joined late and haven't been super strict so no losses here. Goal in three weeks would be to lose 5 ibs or so and get back into my normal jeans. I'm planning to keep going though, I have a stone or so to lose in total

BIWI · 08/01/2024 14:47

@Magnolia82 why don't you list out what you've been eating and drinking for the last few days, and let me see if there's anything obvious I can point out that might get weight loss going again.

And @CocktailQueenie do you know why the gain? Why don't you do the same, so we can see if there's anything you might be able to tweak?
