Morning all

I've started a new thread as the first one was taking so long to load (and also because I kept forgetting to change my Christmas name each time I posted!)

Here's the spreadsheet

@TheSoundofMusic23 you are definitely on it! I've put in your 8lb loss, as I can't see why that wouldn't have been a real loss, but feel free to change if you need to.

Great to hear that things are going well for you @MetabolicallyComplicated - especially re the bleeding.

It's been a good few days from me. @potas I had a veggie day yesterday, roast veg and feta done in the airfryer (I got one of those supermarket packs of ready to roast veg so it was really quick) and then aubergine parmigiana for dinner. I don't have many veggie suggestions though sorry, as before low carb most veggie meals I had were pulses.

sheepdreams · 10/01/2024 08:05

Hi @BIWI

I don’t want to weigh until next week. Do I need to put 0 in the column until then?

RooRooCooChoo · 10/01/2024 08:13

Plan for today is
L: salmon w mayonnaise and super green salad
D: chicken thighs with mayonnaise, baby leaf salad, tomatoes
S: cheese, olives

No that's fine - as long as I know you're 'with us' as it were, and that you want to be on the spreadsheet, it's OK. I'll put your start weight as your first week weight as well.

@alohapotato - are you still with us? Do you want to stay on the spreadsheet?

Both sound lovely.
Roast veg with a bit of cheese, tofu or nuts thrown in is my comfort food. I'd happily eat it every day but feel like I need to introduce a bit of variety.
I don't get on well with meat replacements but I might try veggie mince again and make a chilli for tonight.

BIWI · 10/01/2024 09:01

We're having roast veg and roast halloumi this evening - one of my favourites!

Shallots (if I have enough of them left - onion otherwise), peppers, courgette and cauliflower, along with a head of garlic and a chilli. I also have some cheap tomatoes (the ones that never ripen and taste of nothing!) which I'll chuck in halfway through the roasting. Plenty of sea salt & black pepper and olive oil.

I’m feeling a bit bleurgh today. Totm and waking early after a stress dream probably not helping. Had FFGY and splash of cream for breakfast, planning on pork chop and veg for dinner and something else for lunch. Hopefully warm!

I stepped on the scales today and had a small upswing- in the noise and probably totm related but added to the general malaise. Thank goodness for Happy Scale to put a more positive spin on it!

oh well onwards and upwards

AllTheBlackCoffee · 10/01/2024 09:06

Morning everyone, is there room for a not-so-small one? I actually just logged on to see if there was a BC starting as I think it's usually mid-Jan and here you all are!

I actually started on Jan 2 myself and am doing Dry Jan so even though I've missed out on the chat, I'm at the same point as everyone else. Currently 6.5lbs down on my start weight but as I need to lose more than 3 stone I'm here for the long haul and am determined this is the year I do it!

I have a few targets for the year that will hopefully get me to my goal weight in time for my summer holidays which I think are achieveable if I stick with it. But for the rest of Jan, I'd like to get back into the swing of LC, complete Dry Jan and reset my shocking relationship with wine and if I can get closer to 13 st (currently 13 7) that will be great.

BIWI · 10/01/2024 09:21

Welcome (back!) @AllTheBlackCoffee ! Do you want me to add you to the spreadsheet?

@Nestnearlyempty sorry to hear about malaise. Can you get outside and go for a walk? Don't know where you live (obviously!), but in Sarf Lunnun it's a lovely, crisp and sunny day with beautiful blue skies. Perfect for getting some winter Vitamin D on the bits of exposed flesh you can stand.

No change on the scales for me so far this week, but I'm pleased that starting to eat again hasn't caused an increase. Minor fail with my lovely lunch yesterday in that I didn't feel hungry last night, and then starving this morning so had breakfast instead of IF. Same as yesterday's lunch - spinach, peppers, cherry toms and pinch of chilli with the other half of the avocado which kept fairly well and just one poached egg. 3 cups of herbal tea and 1 of coffee so far, still getting most of my liquid from tea as although the weather app reckons it's a couple of degrees warmer it definitely doesn't feel like it!!!
Hoping that breakfast will see me through until dinner this evening which is slow cooker beef brisket from the freezer made into a pie with broccoli/cauli mash

prettybird · 10/01/2024 09:46

Going to do the broccoli, halloumi, capers, chili and shallots (finished off with Parmesan and lemon juice) dish tonight as I have a head of broccoli that's needing used up.

It's in the veggie recipe thread I think - but as a photo of the original recipe in a magazine.

AllTheBlackCoffee · 10/01/2024 11:07

Yes please @BIWI , if you don't mind. Think even I can get to 4 weeks on the SoF ignoring the last back to school BC when I vanished in week 3 or thereabouts

Today's food is looking like:

L: tuna and avocado salad, olive oil and lemon juice dressing
D basa fillet topped with pesto, veggies liberally doused in butter

Didn't plan today to be particularly fishy but there we have it.

BIWI · 10/01/2024 11:29

I've added you, but have asked @FinallyHere to amend the SoF, as the formulae don't seem to extend far enough to incorporate you! I'm sure she'll fix it, being the Maestro that she is Smile

FairlyOddmother · 10/01/2024 11:38

Hi all, I notice quite a few people on this thread don't eat breakfast- is this something I should be aiming for as the scales go down? (No way I could skip a meal just now!)

BIWI · 10/01/2024 12:17

No it's a personal thing @FairlyOddmother. If you are doing strict Bootcamp (i.e. usually the first two weeks of a 'proper' Bootcamp) then the first rule is that you must eat breakfast. But after that, it's up to you - some people move to 2 meals a day, which generally means missing breakfast. Many people simply aren't hungry in the morning.

It's routine for me - I have just coffee in the morning, unless I'm hungry for some reason, when I might have breakfast.

So entirely up to you and what you feel comfortable with. We never advocate going hungry on this WOE, so if you need to eat, then eat!

AIBConsiderate · 10/01/2024 12:58

Checking in to say hi. I had a good chat with some members of my family about healthy eating and what we're all doing (it's a wedding year for the fam). I was the only one who hasn't been suffering with hunger pangs, so feeling good about that. My gripes at the moment are the off limits veg like onions and beans. I'm using spring onions and leeks as replacements, I didn't realise how dependent on onions I was!

Other that that am happily plodding onward. I've nothing going on socially at the moment so that helps.

AllTheBlackCoffee · 10/01/2024 13:07

Escallion (sp?) shallots are a good sub for onions @AIBConsiderate I use them so regularly now I can't remember the last time I bought an actual onion.

PurpleWhirple · 10/01/2024 13:10

Not sure what I've missed, but why can't we have onions?? Or is this specific to AIBConsiderate?

PurpleWhirple · 10/01/2024 13:16

Just had Harrissa and halloumi sprouts for lunch. It's from the green roasting tin, although I think the original includes broccoli, which I'm not keen on roasted.

This is what I do, and I recommend this recipe, it's delicious. It's already on the veggie recipe thread.

This serves 2 in my house.

500g Brussels Sprouts (large bag)
250g Halloumi (i use a whole pack for 2, cut into cubes)
2 tbsp Harissa
Generous slug of olive oil
Salt and pepper
Spinach - lots!

Mix together in a big tray and roast in the oven on 180 for about half an hour or slightly more. I do it in the air fryer for 20 minutes.

About 5 minutes from the end, stir in the spinach and then a squeeze of lemon juice when it's actually finished.

AIBConsiderate · 10/01/2024 13:20

@PurpleWhirple oh I'd clocked that they were in the red band of veg (nowhere near as bad as potatoes), so knowing that I do use them throughout the week I thought I'd investigate lower carb options.

BIWI · 10/01/2024 13:25

You can use onions @PurpleWhirple and @AIBConsiderate - as they are in so many dishes. But beware, they're in the red zone because they are relatively carby. Echalion or banana shallots are a good replacement - only 3.3g carbs per 100g compared with 7.9g for onions

@AllTheBlackCoffee SoF rejigged and (at the second attempt) sorted, I think. Please '@' me if there is anything else.

Seemed an odd coincidence that your wk 2 weight was populated (and the same as the previous row) so Ive arbitrarily deleted that number. if it was no an error, do please let me know so I can reinstate. many thanks
