Morning all

I've started a new thread as the first one was taking so long to load (and also because I kept forgetting to change my Christmas name each time I posted!)

Here's the spreadsheet

@TheSoundofMusic23 you are definitely on it! I've put in your 8lb loss, as I can't see why that wouldn't have been a real loss, but feel free to change if you need to.

Great to hear that things are going well for you @MetabolicallyComplicated - especially re the bleeding.

I'm made up - I did some kale crisps in the air fryer and my eldest, who won't even poke a vegetable with his finger, inhaled them. In fact the three kids fought over them which was a shock. I only tried the recipe because I've got two bags of the stuff to use up.

New snack for the household I think!

AIBConsiderate · 14/01/2024 19:36

I did call them 'green crisps' which I didn't think would fool them, but haha suckers!

AllTheBlackCoffee · 14/01/2024 19:41

What's the recipe @AIBConsiderate? I love kale chips but they are a faff in the oven.

@Metabolicallycomplicated - what is the recipe for the whipped feta? (I'm on the app, so it's well nigh impossible to search effectively Sad).

I have slice chorizo, feta and Greek yogurt so I fancy making some Smile

Literally just a block of feta and a couple of table spoons of Greek yoghurt in the food processor for 5 mins will do the trick, but if you’re feeling fancy the best one I’ve ever made had a teaspoon of crushed garlic, a bit squeeze of lemon juice and a good crack of black pepper in it too :)

Let me know how you get on!

BIWI · 14/01/2024 20:25

@Magnolia82 all looks/sounds lovely - but it strikes me that it could be quite low in fat. Are you cooking in butter/oil, adding butter to your veg and oily dressings (and/or mayo) to your salads?

And how about water? How much water are you drinking?

Oooh @Metabolicallycomplicated that sounds delcious. Stupid question but do you put the cut up chicken in raw or do you brown it a little first?

I'm going to be travelling for work for the next 4 days so won't be able to weigh in on Monday so will take today's weight of 81.9 which I'm pleased about as I've just edged into the next kilo bracket, even though I've only lost 300g. I'll be pleased if I can STS this week as it's always a bit tricky when on planes, trains and automobiles. The truth is I massively resent having to travel on a Sunday night for early Monday morning meetings then either leave very late the next night or early the following morning, ie being away 4 days for 2 days of actual meetings, due to the way the time change works and and I tend to reward myself with all the food. I'm trying to remember it's not really a reward as it's not good for my health but it's hard.

Wishing you all a peaceful end to the weekend and a good week ahead.

Metabolicallycomplicated · 14/01/2024 20:29

Does anyone have a low carb alternative to breadcrumbs for a chicken parm? Massively craving a chicken parm this week but need a way to make it breadcrumb-crispy and I can’t think. I was thinking maybe crushed nuts but those won’t absorb the oil and fry properly so is there another way?

I just put mine in raw and let it poach in the oven in the sauce and it was lovely and soft :) I’m adding leeks to the recipe next time!

prettybird · 14/01/2024 20:41

@Metabolicallycomplicated : I do a "crumb" coating (for either chicken "nuggets/goujons" or for chicken parmigiana) with a mix of freshly grated Parmesan, a ground linseed/physillum husk/walnut/Q10 mix and some ground almonds and plenty of seasoning (occasionally including dried English mustard powder). I beat an egg, mix the chicken in and then dip it into the almond/parmesan mdr y mixture. It's quite a delicate coating for nuggets (as I haven't used flour to "key" it), so I make sure that they've been in the oven for a while before trying to turn them, but in a parmigiana, it's less of an issue.

PurpleWhirple · 14/01/2024 21:23

I have been wondering about this same question re a low carb version of breadcrumbs as Parmesan chicken (literally just a chicken breast baked with a topping made of breadcrumbs and Parmesan) is a family favourite here and I don't want to miss out if they're all having it. Was thinking about trying ground almonds mixed with Parmesan for my portion. It's on the planner this week so I will let you know how it goes

Have a good week all. I'm cautiously optimistic for my morning weigh in as I've not cheated at all this weekend and weekends are my danger time for sneaking in a few crisps etc. I think it's being off the booze that helps.

prettybird · 14/01/2024 21:27

I make it regularly once we're on Boot Camp Light Wink and it always goes down well Smile

In fact, ds prefers my version of chicken nuggets to "ordinary" ones Grin

PurpleWhirple · 14/01/2024 21:27

Doesn't BC lite start tomorrow, or have I missed something??

BIWI · 14/01/2024 22:06

It does - if you want to move to Bootcamp Light. You can stay on strict Bootcamp if you prefer. It's only a 4 week challenge, remember.

@BIWI ground linseed/physillum husk/walnut/Q10 mix - can I please ask what these all are and what you use them for please?

BIWI · 14/01/2024 23:20

Linseed is also known as flaxseed. The only thing I have used that for is in a low carb granola (recipe in the vegetarian recipe thread).

The others - not a clue! (Apart from walnut, obviously)

@LowCarbingIn2024 is a blue scale with a smiley face. Happy Scale. I’ll take a photo of my screen with it on. It’s top middle. You’ll love it!

Gingerwarthog · 15/01/2024 06:18

No change in weight this week despite following BC rules. Will KOKO and hopefully see a change by next Monday.

NotDonna · 15/01/2024 06:36

151.4lbs this morning so that’s 2.6lbs this week and 6.4lbs so far on this bootcamp. I’m staying on strict as I’ve another 10lbs to go.

Redhothoochycoocher · 15/01/2024 06:38

Ive lost a lb. Not thrilled with that really as I'd have hoped for a larger loss at some point. I've only lost 3.8lbs since the start. I've lost an inch in my waist and nothing on my hips.

@BIWI would you be able to let me know where I'm going wrong?

Yesterday -
B - creamy coffee
L - FFGY with a splash of cream and a small handful of raspberries, left over 1/4 of tofu fried in butter with a little soy sauce on.
D - vegetarian sausages, big pile of green beans with butter, dollop of cottage cheese

This is a fairly typical day. Apart from my coffee at 6am, I don't have food until about 11am and stop around 7pm when I take my children to bed. One meal tends to be FFGY and the other some sort of vegetarian protein, veg and cheese.

I've probably been drinking half my water but got my big water bottle out today so will aim for 3 if them

RooRooCooChoo · 15/01/2024 07:03

Lost 1.3lbs today. A little disappointed after my week of cellophane eating. Two people asked me if I'd lost weight, which is usually a sign of progress. However - buries head in shame - I was very badly behaved this weekend, so will take my punishment womanfully. This week will be better!

L: tuna mayo and salad
D: roast chicken w aubergine parmigiana
S: olives and cheese

BIWI · 15/01/2024 07:38

@Redhothoochycoocher

Well, firstly, I'd remind you of this picture, which is 1lb of fat.

Second, I'm not sure how 'Bootcamp compliant' you have been, given that you've admitted you're not drinking the water, and that you've also been including beans/pulses/legumes in your meals. Have you checked how many carbs are in your vegetarian sausages, as well?

I've probably been drinking half my water but got my big water bottle out today so will aim for 3 if them

No idea what capacity your water bottle is, but you should be drinking 3.5 litres daily. Don't 'aim' for it - do it!

And third, it's possible that you're eating too much dairy. Could you switch your FFGY for an avocado, for example?

Overall, just remember - it is still a loss. I know it's not as much as you wanted, but nevertheless, it's still downwards!

My scales are behaving very oddly so I'm not all that confident in my weight but I've recorded the middle of the 15lb range it presented me with over multiple weighings this morning 😳, which is also the one that it settled on twice and fits with the trajectory I've been on with my daily weighing over the last week. It's a decent loss so I just hope it's right!

BIWI · 15/01/2024 07:41

@RooRooCooChoo

Hmm. On the one hand:

Lost 1.3lbs today. A little disappointed after my week of cellophane eating.

... and on the other hand:

I was very badly behaved this weekend

Sounds like you were lucky to see the loss.

You know, I wrote the rules but I can't make anyone follow them. But they're there for a reason! You can't break them, and then be disappointed that you haven't see the loss that you want. This Bootcamp - in just two weeks - you're coming up to a half stone loss. Don't jeopardise that (and further losses over the next fortnight) by cheating.
