BIWI · 08/01/2024 08:39

Morning all

I've started a new thread as the first one was taking so long to load (and also because I kept forgetting to change my Christmas name each time I posted!)

Here's the spreadsheet

@TheSoundofMusic23 you are definitely on it! I've put in your 8lb loss, as I can't see why that wouldn't have been a real loss, but feel free to change if you need to.

Great to hear that things are going well for you @MetabolicallyComplicated - especially re the bleeding.

BTW - goals don't have to be weight-specific!

It could be numbers-related, as @venusandmars says, or it could be a specific measurement, or item of clothing.

Frankly, just staying alcohol-free for the month is a goal in itself.

BIWI · 08/01/2024 14:53

@mimosa1 I assume you're weighing in kilos?!

@Almahart I think it's probably my fault for not changing the tab at the bottom to reflect which Bootcamp this is. But glad you found us.

TimeforZ · 08/01/2024 15:13

I haven't been posting but I did weigh, and I've lost no weight at all. I know it's to do with totm, so not excessively worried. I do feel a lot better though, hunger pangs subsided pretty quickly. I'll be weigh8ng next week

LowCarbingIn2024 · 08/01/2024 16:01

Aw!
It's been soooo lovely reading about (most of your) fantastic losses. Wonderful news. I can feel the joy fizzing off the screen in your posts
Well done everyone 👏

Sorry for those of you who haven't.
Hopefully your results next week will be more what you're hoping for.

My goals...
Definitely to do 6 dry weeks, as that was my plan before signing up to bootcamp anyway.

First goal - get rid of Christmas weight (1/2 a stone) (already half way there)
2nd goal - to lose the stone I gained since it got cold/autumn kicked in which was from mid-october
3rd goal, to be overweight, not obese on the bmi scale, which is a further 3lb from goal 2.
Aiming for that by Easter (so if there's another bootcamp, I'll be signing up!)
4th goal... to be mid-way to a healthy bmi by mid July

I managed no snacks today at work and didn't feel too bad, and there was sooooooo much around... pastries for breakfast (unheard of), boxes of chocs etc. Didn't touch a thing 🥳

CocktailQueenie · 08/01/2024 16:22

'And @CocktailQueenie do you know why the gain? Why don't you do the same, so we can see if there's anything you might be able to tweak?'
@BIWI Afraid to say that I although I have been eating properly, I have had some alcohol so entirely my fault. Birthday celebrations at this time of year - last year I did really well too and totally abstained. Also need to drink more water.

Gingerwarthog · 08/01/2024 17:01

2.5lbs down, which is great after a month or two of fluctuating weight probably due to menopausal hormones as previous posters have also experienced.
The bloated stomach which I had throughout December has gone.

Melony75 · 08/01/2024 17:01

Hi, I started at the back end of last week and feel much less bloated already, I made the bread recipie (flax and ground almond) and that has been a sucess, even though it was more pancake than loaf.
A small loss today but I've got a lot of clawing back to do to get back to my pre-Christmas weight. Was doing Second Nature in September and lost about half a stone, so bootcamp shouldn't be so alien as it was a similar low carbing program but nice to start a journey at the same time with a new group and getting lots of tips.

BIWI · 08/01/2024 17:29

In my quest to make Dry January more palatable, I've been on the look out for alcohol-free beers that are also low carb, and came across this one today

Less than 0.5g carbs per 100ml and also alcohol-free. More importantly, it tastes really good.

Paradiso - Alcohol-free Citra IPA | Big Drop

This IPA radiates citrus fruit from the moment you pour it to the second you finish that last sip with a satisfied sigh.

I've been on Brewdogs.

prettybird · 08/01/2024 17:46

Just checked back and I'm 5lb down since Friday ShockSmile, which was when I belatedly weighed in.

Just goes to show how falling face first into carbs (which accelerated after Hogmamay Blush) can bloat you up really quickly - but the positive flip side is that if you can clamber back on the wagon quickly, your cells will quickly release all their newly acquired glycogen stores Grin - mostly water (as my multiple mid night trips to the loo attest Hmm).

The turkey and ham leftovers "crumble" yesterday was a great success with dh and me not do much ds who didn't like the Stilton topping Hmm Dh and I will be having it again tonight Smile I did chicken out and add a tiny bit of flour to thicken it (less than a teaspoon as opposed to the tablespoon in the recipe). Amongst 5 portions, I thought I'd get away with it Wink

I'll write out my adaptation of the GH recipe in the meat recipes thread. Smile

I was also very Halo: dh and ds' girlfriend both shared a bottle of wine (dh is educating her on wine) and I stayed on the water Halo

I made "Barbados Mousse" for dessert: whipped cream beaten with Greek yogurt and topped with Muscovado sugar. I layered in sliced strawberries as I'd bought some at Christmas for the others and instead of the Muscovado sugar, I topped my portion with cinnamon. Halo

BIWI · 08/01/2024 17:47

Are you going to enter it on to the spreadsheet @prettybird ?!

OP posts:
prettybird · 08/01/2024 17:49

I've not been on the laptop today @BIWI - but for once I entered my starting weight yesterday.

islandtiger · 08/01/2024 18:19

My goal for the three weeks is to get to 10 stone 2 lbs (142lbs) and maintain it until the next push downwards. I'll be continuing LC until I'm at my target of 9 stone (mid point for my BMI) so a way to go. I'm at 146 lbs today so I lost 4 lbs last week, but I'm pretty sure I got Covid in Austria so I've hardly eaten since Friday night. ( gnocchi! Don't ever go to Austria if on an LC diet). I had 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast yesterday and about 30 gms of steak with steamed cabbage for dinner. I allowed myself a couple of potatoes but I've gone off them. My appetite has deserted me but I'm back looking after my DM tomorrow so I need to build up some reserves so I'll eat more steak and cabbage tonight. I have only had covid once before in September 2022 and didn't drink for a month ( very unusual for me) so I'm hoping that will really ease this months challenge !

CharlieHadAPigeon · 08/01/2024 19:41

I’ve just been looking at the spreadsheet - wow, people have done such a great job this week!

10lb off for me, which I’m pleased about, especially after my unusual food at the weekend.

My goal for the remaining three weeks is to be able to do up the button on my work trousers without breathing in, and to lose a further 10lb.

Thesoundofmusic23 · 08/01/2024 20:43

Thanks for adding my loss @BIWI - not sure I was on the right spread sheet 🤔

My short term goals are to compete the boot camp and dry January, and to fit comfortably in to my old jeans. Been v tight with mum tum recently so will be a welcome shift.

prettybird · 08/01/2024 21:23

This is the "leftover turkey and ham crumble" dish reheated for supper tonight. It looks a bit like cat sick unappetising but it was actually really tasty! Grin The Stilton crumbled on top was still quite strong, so that was what had put ds off.

Thinly sliced leeks, garlic, butter, tiny bit of flour, turkey chunks, shredded ham, cream, ham stock, grain mustard, with a topping of crushed pork crunch, lemon zest, olive oil and finely chopped parsley, with a final topping of crumbled Stilton (will try Parmesan next time).

alwaysclockwise · 08/01/2024 21:34

I will update the spreadsheet tomorrow as I weigh daily and always choose between Monday and Tuesday weigh and record whichever is lower 😉
@Baystard you mentioned a book about how to manage time and be more productive.Do you mind sharing the title and author. I was looking for something like this to read.
"What's your goal for the next three weeks?"
I would love to get down to below 70kg.Even if it's 69.9 I will be over the moon if I manage to achieve that.
Great to note everyone's losses!

NotDonna · 08/01/2024 22:09

Lost 3.8lb which I’m happy with. I’m a bit perplexed as I’ve been bobbing around the 153/154 mark for absolutely ages (I weigh daily) & on 27th Dec weighed 155 so not too bad a gain over Xmas. I had a general anaesthetic on 27th for a hysteroscopy, curettage etc. and gained 3lbs overnight despite fasting all day for it - most bizarre. Wasn’t an excessive Xmas so I don’t think it’s one of those ‘shows a day later’ kinda weighs - which I do have. So today I’m back to my pre-surgery weight (yeah!) but still feel really bloated and my tummy swollen and generally stodgy. I didn’t feel like this when I was a stone heavier. Do hope this feeling goes.

Had a dog walk & bfast with a friend today so not my usual 16:8

Bfast - mint tea x2; scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, mushroom, tomatoes baked beans (I only remembered they were banned after eating the luckily tiny portion. BUT I didn’t have toast or the lattes I’d usually have)
Lunch - too full from bfast
snack - puffed pork scratching a
Dinner - homemade Paneer Mattar, spinach, green beans (DDs had with naan & rice)
Probably not enough water!

SHORT TERM GOALS - more water! Stay dry; Get back to Pilates and tennis this week. Definitely back to daily dog walk. Next week start a local dance class once a fortnight. Weight wise - end of 3 weeks 150lbs (10st 10lbs) with a long term goal of 140lbs.

Jollyholibobs · 08/01/2024 23:56

3.8lbs down and feeling so much better for ditching carbs. Thanks for running this @BIWI Short term goal was to do up my ski trousers by 25th Jan. Tried them tonight and there is not a chance🙁 would need to lose at least a stone in 17 days. Mid term goal do up my ski trousers by 2nd March. Meantime need to buy some cheap larger size ski trousers.

it’s been good to consider the goals and realise that the first is not realistic and I need to go shopping.

Loving all the recipe inspiration and positivity. Not having much time to read and post.

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 08/01/2024 23:57

Well done on the many great losses here.

We did it for a week... we can do it for another!

HazelNotHungryLC · 09/01/2024 04:51

My short term goal for this bootcamp is to get below 158lbs. I'm currently 160.6lbs (I've lost all my Christmas weight now) but so close to my goal weight (155lbs) that is hard to lose much weight. I've also been doing LCHF for long enough to know that even if my weight isn't moving (or even going up) inches are dropping off, which is the ultimate goal!
I have a pair of pink trousers that I haven't been able to wear since buying them 2 years ago 😳 and would like to fit in them come spring/ summer (also my goal I set myself last year 🙄).

I have been enjoying drinking infused water, mainly cucumber & lemon in my new infuser. It's nice having a clear head. My goal, alcohol wise, is to reset my relationship with it, be less dependant. Tonight was a little harder after having a bit of challenging day at work, but drank some of my infused water when I got home and the feeling passed, thankfully. It helps DH is doing dry January with me also.

bluesupermoon · 09/01/2024 05:32

Weighed today. 1.3 loss since Saturday, am happy with that!
Found a pair of jeans I haven't worn for ages that I could fit into this week, but had to take them off after a couple of hours as they were so tight. So that's my aim for this bootcamp, a whole day in them without being uncomfortable.
Well done to everyone for all the great progress and for keeping going!

Redhothoochycoocher · 09/01/2024 06:45

After bootcamp ends, what do you all do? Do you carry on this WOE or do bootcamp lite? Or back to normal until the next bootcamp?

I've been reading through the freshwell app so planning to stick to this after bootcamp really.

Baystard · 09/01/2024 06:55

@alwaysclockwise it was called Time Surfing by Paul Loomans.

Going to the London office today and have packed my handbag cheese!

mimosa1 · 09/01/2024 07:47

Morning all,

Lovely idea to post short term goals, @BIWI. Mine is to lost a further 2.5kg to get under the 80kg mark. You're quite right that I've been tracking in kilos. My scale is set that way, but I will figure out the conversion on the spreadsheet. It's nice to hear what others are aiming for too. Feels more manageable in the short term too.

I found out a few moths ago that I'm shorter than I thought ! Or perhaps I've shrunk so am borderline on the obese / overweight category and those 2kg (just) push me over the boundary properly

It was indeed my old boss at my first real job who made the remark about time passing anyway many years ago. He was a lovely man and I like to think he'd be chuffed about being "bootcamp famous"!
