Morning all

I've started a new thread as the first one was taking so long to load (and also because I kept forgetting to change my Christmas name each time I posted!)

Here's the spreadsheet

@TheSoundofMusic23 you are definitely on it! I've put in your 8lb loss, as I can't see why that wouldn't have been a real loss, but feel free to change if you need to.

Great to hear that things are going well for you @MetabolicallyComplicated - especially re the bleeding.

Ahh thank you. So it still looks like an oven but only grills.

Nestnearlyempty · 14/01/2024 08:19

Gah- 2 days in the bounce the scales have gone up. And the second day I was much more careful to drink more, portion control etc. energy and mood also down. Felt like diving head first into a red wine box last night but didn’t….I do drink quite a bit of tea and coffee but not very milky- and no coffee shop lattes etc.

fir today: FFGY, roast chicken, cauli cheese and veg (potatoes and yorkshires for kids). Either soup or eggs for lunch.

BIWI · 14/01/2024 08:40

It's frustrating, isn't it @Nestnearlyempty?

If it's getting to you, such that you're seriously having a serious case of the 'fuckits' then perhaps daily weighing isn't for you? It is quite normal for body weight to fluctuate from day-to-day.

You say you were more careful on the second day, which sort of implies that on the previous day you weren't - what were you doing/eating/drinking on that day?

OP posts:
blackteaplease · 14/01/2024 08:54

@Nestnearlyempty do these pictures help at all?

This is my daily weight since starting bootcamp, overall the average is down but daily and sometimes weekly there are fluctuations. I
use fitbit premium to track weight but there's been mention of a free app on here that does similar. Would averaging help you if you still want to weigh daily?

Morning campers, happy Sunday!

Currently sat in the car at DS’ football with a lovely black coffee in my hot cup (DH is the coach so have to get here stupidly early!).

Had a very small bowl of Greek yog with cream before we set off to stop me feeling too hungry and am doing a big fry up when we get home - bacon, chipolatas, scrambled
eg, mushrooms and tomatoes. I’ve got a joint of pork in the slow cooker for tea which I’ll do with Cauli cheese, swede mash and any other lurking fridge veg.

Those who use the happy scale app, do you use the free version or pay for the premium one? I’ve only just started using it and I’m not sure if it’s worth paying for or not so any views would be appreciated.

The scales are continuing to inch down so I’m looking forward to official WI day tomorrow. It’s 30 weeks til we go on our summer holiday and even just 1lb a week would mean I fit into all my lovely
summer clothes. I know that means I have to stick at this til then, so taking one day at a time, but it’s nice to look at the bigger picture sometimes.

Sorry for the essay. Can you tell I’m bored?!

Prinnny · 14/01/2024 09:49

Happy Sunday 😊

Well I ate like a queen last night and shared a bottle of lovely Sauvignon blanc (why I’m not doing official boot camp - can’t bear to drink water in a restaurant 🤣) and I’ve remained in ketosis and lost another 1.5lb! So super happy!

Today I’m doing pulled pork and stuffing baguettes for the family, not sure how to have my mine yet. Might do a cali cheese with the recipes suggested on this thread.

I think it’s not so much the weighing that is getting me down as a general ‘meh’ness of the 93milliom days that is January, the greyness of the weather, the muddiness underfoot when I walk the dog, being on my own when my kids are with my ex, etc etc etc. I do have naturally low levels of serotonin and take some medication for that as well as going through the menopause plus totm this week which has now finished.

I won’t be able to weigh daily this week anyway as I have to go away with work for a couple of days- which in itself is going to present other challenges.

when I meant I was good with what I ate the second day I meant that I was watching portion sizes and trying to drink all the water- I do find that hard but I was on the herbal teas etc. otherwise I was on boot camp both days.

TheOnlyMrsW · 14/01/2024 11:03

@AllTheBlackCoffee DD would be very jealous, we haven't played since the end of November as the pitches here are so waterlogged and she's getting very fed up!!!!! Me not so much..........
Managed to survive Pizza Express, ordered a side salad, chicken wings and sun-dried tomatoes which was lovely and very filling! Good night had by all and DD has another band ticked off the bucket list 😊.
Today's plan is to finish putting the bedroom back together after new wardrobes on Friday and make soup and lunches for DH for the week. I have an office day on Tuesday so need to get some meals sorted for then as well, have a good day everyone

LowCarbingIn2024 · 14/01/2024 12:33

Today is weigh day for me.

Only 1lb this week. 😞
I'm blaming hobnob-gate on Wednesday. But disappointed, of course.
I'd rather hoped there would be a difference in measurements, because I've done a lot of exercise, plus IF 16/8 for 5 days out of the last 8 (incl today)
But sadly the tape measurements were pretty much in line with last week. Just a cm here and there.

So, a bit of a <sigh> and keep on keeping on.

prettybird · 14/01/2024 13:21

@LowCarbingIn2024 - what do you mean "just" a cm here and there???? HmmConfused

Give yourself a pat on the back Smile

prettybird · 14/01/2024 13:24

@Metabolicallycomplicated - what is the recipe for the whipped feta? (I'm on the app, so it's well nigh impossible to search effectively Sad).

I have slice chorizo, feta and Greek yogurt so I fancy making some Smile

Jollyholibobs · 14/01/2024 13:31

@LowCarbingIn2024 celebrate that 1lb! Well done.😊

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 14/01/2024 15:27

Almahart · 13/01/2024 20:23

@Redhothoochycoocher leek (sweet) and halloumi (salty) is a great combo. Have you got a lime? One of my all time faves is griddle halloumi, softened leeks with lime juice and cumin seeds. Truly greater than the sum of its parts

That sounds like a great lunch for tomorrow!

BIWI · 14/01/2024 16:19

@prettybird

It’s just a block of feta and a couple of tablespoons of Greek yoghurt, plus lemon juice and garlic in the food processor. It made tons so I’ve now got a pot of it in the fridge for dipping a spoon in later

Or

I’ve just made a new batch of whipped feta. This time I’ve whipped it with mostly cream and only a little bit of yoghurt, then added garlic, lemon, chilli and black pepper as this batch is going to be used as a dip

@TheOnlyMrsW it's our first match in 7 weeks and a miracle the pitch was playable. We lost but were the better team overall so a bit disappointing but I think the lads were just pleased to get their boots on!

NotDonna · 14/01/2024 16:54

@AllTheBlackCoffee @blackteaplease @Nestnearlyempty the free version of The Happy Scale app is excellent and all I’ve used in the last few years. However I’ve thought about subscribing as it’s inexpensive and gives something back to the chap that made it.

NotDonna · 14/01/2024 16:59

@Nestnearlyempty my renpho hasn’t been logging all my weights annoying as it’s been really up and down but you can see from this photo that I can bounce up and down. This is why I do weigh daily so I can catch those days that are lower and be pleased!

Thank you @BIWI Smile

NotDonna · 14/01/2024 17:06

This is from happy scale and although I weigh every day I sometimes forget to add but as you can see I don’t actually lose every day but the Happy Scale calculates moving average which shows that it is coming down slowly.

NotDonna · 14/01/2024 17:07

From the 2nd to the 9th I actually gained weight but the moving average shoes I’m still losing. Love Happy Scale.

islandtiger · 14/01/2024 17:15

I'm a daily weigher but I fluctuate by as much as 2lb. As long as I drink the water, and stay off the booze, my weight is slowly coming down. I've had a very strange food week looking after my DM so not been wildly strict. Stress means I'm not hungry but I'm loving the simple tasty suggestions in these threads. Friday I had a tuna Niçoise salad for lunch and liver and bacon for supper. Yesterday I made the scrummiest 3 egg omelette with jumbo spring onions sautéed in butter and a bit of cheddar. Supper was lightly stir fried sprouts with half a pack of haloumi on top. I'm going to roast aubergines tonight and throw in cherry tomatoes and loads of garlic. I have been snacking on vanilla Greek yoghurt which is not ideal I know so back to the kefir tomorrow. Good luck to everyone weighing in tomorrow. We've got this!

LowCarbingIn2024 · 14/01/2024 17:22

Just tried to download the happy scale app, and it's not immediately obvious which one it is in playstore.

Can anyone screenshot an image?

I had whipped feta on my veggies tonight. It was as amazing as you all say

Magnolia82 · 09/01/2024 16:26

Thank you so much @BIWI

I haven't got time right now to list my meals for the last few days, but will do later or tomorrow. (Just didn't want you to think I was ignoring this!)

Do you still want me/us to have a look at what your meals are like?

OP posts:
Magnolia82 · 14/01/2024 18:27

@BIWI Perfect timing! I literally just came on here to do this! Thank you so much.

Here are some meals from the last week.

B - Scrambled egg, spinach
L - Aubergine & courgette ratatouille with some left-over chicken added
D - Salmon & lots of green veg

B - Nothing (I do 16:8 fasting most days)
L - Smoked salmon, salad
D - Roast chicken & lots of green veg

B - Nothing
L - Mushroom & spinach omelette with salad
D - Prawn stir fry. (Followed by some Greek yogurt)

B - Nothing
L - Chicken & avocado salad
D - Salmon & veg

B - Greek yogurt
L - Mushroom & spinach omelette with salad
D - Chicken breast & veg

(It's a bit same-y this week for various reasons.)

Having said all of this, I weighed yesterday and had dropped a pound. I am aware that being short and without much to lose it will be slow, but I would definitely value your feedback/thoughts.

Metabolicallycomplicated · 14/01/2024 18:43

I love happy scale because even though I had exactly the same weight for 4 days in a row, I could see the moving average still coming down and it was spot on, the days following the stall saw my weight come in exactly where it predicted it would.

My eating has all gone a bit disordered the last 24 hours, I’ve not been hungry then I’ve been hungry again and all over the place so I think my buggered hormones might be doing something odd. So todays food:

B: cream coffee (was hungry)
Mid morning: Curators pork puffs (never usually snack and if I do it’s in the evening)
L: Nothing
D: A lovely chicken pesto and broccoli bake recipe I saw on TikTok and adapted for low carb:

cut up broccoli and stick in baking dish
cut up chicken breast and stick in baking dish
stick in a couple of blobs of pesto and stir through

in a pan, soften bacon, shallots and garlic in a good knob of butter
add half a little pack of FF soft cheese
add a dollop of Greek yoghurt
add about a 2 second pour of double cream
add a handful of grated cheddar and let it all melt together to make a cheese sauce

Pour cheese sauce over the broccoli and chicken, then add more grated cheddar on top and bake on 180 for about 45 minutes.

It comes out like a cross between a chicken pasta dish and a cauliflower bake and it was absolutely banging. It made enough for at least 2, possibly 3 big portions so it’s coming to work for lunch tomorrow!
