Week 3 Pre-Christmas 22 Boot Camp

Good morning! Smile

Here we are at Week 3 already Shock

So today you have a choice: you can move on to Bootcamp Light, if you wish - which means you can re-introduce some fruit, some nuts/seeds and some (low carb) alcohol (drye wine and certain spirits). Note the use of the word some! This means in moderation - and not all of them at the same time Wink

If you wish, you can also now introduce/re-introduce intermittent fasting - most people drop breakfast, but it's up to you how you want to do this. @StuntNun has a thread about how to combine fasting with low carb for anyone who is interested in this approach.

You can, if you wish, remain on Bootcamp, if it suits you and it's working for you. Alternatively you can adopt a hybrid - so Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whichever route you decide upon, good luck! Flowers

A reminder re weeks 3 & 4 (and even 5)

It is very, very common for weight loss to slow or stop in weeks 3 and 4. If this happens to you, know that it's not just you! It's also very unlikely to be something you're doing, or not doing, if you've lost in the previous two weeks.

Just KOKO and things will get going again for you.

It is, though, also something to bear in mind if you do decide to switch to Bootcamp Light.

I’m tagging @FinallyHere to ask her to link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness so that I don’t link to an out-of-date one Blush

Good luck to everyone - hope you're continuing to see results either (or both) on the scales or NSVs (Non Scales Victories - leg clothes fitting better or better skin or more energy)

How quickly can we all get to Shropshire?!

Sounds lovely @prettybird

prettybird · 05/11/2022 16:46

This is the accommodation we're staying in - part of it supposedly the oldest house in Shropshire. We got the bridal suite as we arrived last night and it's first come first served Grin

The dinner plus a night's accommodation wasn't cheap through Shock (although we were given last night for free as we were coming down from Glasgow)

So your room is big enough for us all then?

ditavonteesed · 05/11/2022 17:10

Just checked maps I can be there is 2 hours and 37 minutes. What time is dinner?

NotDonna · 05/11/2022 17:18

And prettybird you mentioned low carb creme brûlées? Surely that’s a misnomer? I need to hunt that recipe down. Is it on the pud thread do you think? Not going to make this week or so as still working on the sweet tooth. I have noticed a difference already though.

Backstreets · 05/11/2022 18:09

@prettybird that looks delicious!!
@ditavonteesed well done on the body pump class! God I need to get properly back in the gym…
scales standing still for me but suppose that’s pretty normal :) pleased honestly as this week turned out a lot more sociable than planned and I’ve had a good bit of alcohol and one very cheaty meal. At least it was fun.

prettybird · 05/11/2022 18:26

@NotDonna - there is indeed a crème brûlée on the desserts and other sweet things thread BUT not to be looked at until you are sure you are fat adapted and you've broken the hold that sweet things have on you Wink

I only ever do desserts when I'm having people/my dad over so at most once a week.

It uses erythritol in the custard and inulin (I bought mine off Amazon) for the brûlée bit as it caramelises well (if a little chewy).

OP posts:
NotDonna · 05/11/2022 19:51

Not sure I’ll ever break that hold… it’s so hard to walk past our dish of brownies and carton of Krispy crème’s. DD3 is grossly underweight and as a growing teen we have to have a fair bit of junk food around as snacks. Hence why I’ve gained the pounds the last year (unlike her). The good thing is we’ve not stocked any diet or low fat goods for years.

venusandmars · 05/11/2022 21:29

@NotDonna at some point you mght be surprised.. Keep to no sugar foods (no fruit, no sugar substitutes etc) and the one day you'll try something sweet and honestly your face will screw up like it would with lime. Maybe the first mouthful will seem ok (or maybe even that will be too much), but honestly I think you will eventually find that foods full of sugar will be genuinely unpalatable.

@prettybird ooh lovely dinner! Maybe you could buy all the wines and I could re-create the dinner...

Heading to PILs tomorrow. It's a sort of mercy visit. They're both in their 90s and live a fragile existence. Very old age is so challenging. Neither PIL could live on their own, each of them has issues of old age (immobility, deafness, frailty / vs / sight loss, dementia). And they live 2+ hours drive away from their dc. But what to do? They would not survive a move nearer to us. Good care homes are unaffordable (circa £150,000 per annum for somewhere that would take them both). They have some carers come to help 4 days per week. But their life is boring and dull and diminishing. It feels like we are waiting for 'something' to happen which will trigger the next stage in their lives and their care. It is so sad.

In the meantime, I can cook food that dMIL loves and enjoys. And can eat in tiny mouthfuls. So tomorrow is lamb casserole that was from the slow cooker. It is tasty and tender. There's turnip and buttery leek mash, and she'll have crushed potato too. And pudding. dMIL loves a chocolate fudge mousse. So that will be for them, not me.

I'm 3 pound down on the week it was 5 but bounced back up to only 3. I've really only been bootcamp light this first week sorry . I have a 10 mile race this morning , whilst I'm not worried about the time I don't want to feel rubbish. Strict full on bootcamp from lunchtime I promise and drastically cutting back on the cheese. No more races until December then so it doesn't matter how slow as long as i get my distances in.

Newlease · 06/11/2022 08:25

@prettybirdthat menu <3 !! Enjoy your stay, sounds amazing.
@FinallyHere , that sounds interesting, I had tried lukewarm water last week and surprised that it is drinkable ;) Thought of a proper flask, but cafeteria didn’t cross my mind, I have one sometimes the house, thanks so much for the suggestion, hopefully that would sort my water in take problem!! @Skiphopbump , Thanks, will have a look in TKMaxx next time I go in.
B: cream coffee
Lunch: Chicken soup, home made
Dinner : cheese burger soup, from a keto recipe website. I didn’t as much cheese as they mentioned, as I cook for few days at a time, but something warm at Lunch is very much appreciated when it is cold :)
I have to meal plan for the week, and cook today!!

ListenLinda · 06/11/2022 11:59

Random Q, but my mum is also doing LC and she says we count net carbs? I thought we didn’t need to do this, is this right?

BIWI · 06/11/2022 12:37

@ListenLinda net carbs is only for American-labelled foods. We don't have net carbs on British packaging.

ListenLinda · 06/11/2022 14:13

@BIWI Oh good, thank you! She had me really confused and panicking for a minute!

debka · 06/11/2022 17:10

Went to Bluewater today for an impromptu shopping trip- I've been wanting a new sweatshirt in black or grey for a while. I got one in Hush last year which cost me a shocking £65 but I have worn it and worn it. After looking in EVERY SHOP I SWEAR TO GOD I finally found a grey sweater I wanted in... Hush again! £59 but I know I'll get the wear from it.

We had lunch in Byron Burger and I had a burger without the bun and with extra salad- it was DELICIOUS.

Dinner will be leftover beef casserole.

FinallyHere · 06/11/2022 18:00

@debka I love this way of eating: enjoying eating delicious food while out and about. Your lunch sounds delicious with no fuss around availability.

debka · 06/11/2022 18:25

@FinallyHere it's definitely easier in the slightly higher end places- I've had a bun less McDonald's burger before and it was disappointing to say the least!

ZiggZagg · 06/11/2022 18:34

Iris came home, she's just adorable. Hubby doesn't know yet 🤣🙈

She's adorable 🥰

Sunsnowsun · 06/11/2022 21:01

She is gorgeous

NotDonna · 06/11/2022 21:41

I’ve not caught up & need to go to the next page on my phone but…
@newlease I love the ion8 leak proof bottles as they are so easy to clean. I often make a big pot of herbal tea (I love the strongly flavoured pukka ones) and then decanter into a water bottle - I add a bit cold too. I don’t make it in the water bottle as I’ve had a teabag burst during the day and no one wants a mouthful of bits. Slices of lemon & ginger seeped in hot water is lovely too. As is fresh mint with it without lemon.

NotDonna · 06/11/2022 21:47

Now on the right page to be greeted by gorgeous Iris! 🥰

NotDonna · 07/11/2022 06:51

Happy Monday campers and here’s hoping there’s good results today including NSVs!
I’m down 3.4lb this week, and 7lbs since start, which I’m pleased with. I think that’s a decent average over 3 weeks. I’m going to have another week of strict boot camp with 16:8 best I can - I’m not always 100% - I’ve had a few non-alcoholic slimline G&Ts, which although not too carby aren’t exactly in the rules. I really need to focus on more liquids.
Good luck everyone! x

Baystard · 07/11/2022 06:59

Good morning and good luck everyone with your weigh-in or NSVs!

I slept soundly for 8 hours last night - that's my NSV!

pinknsparkly · 07/11/2022 08:31

I'm 2.7lb up this week thanks to my period and feeling generally poorly. I'm back on lots of water today and hoping it comes off again soon!
