Week 3 Pre-Christmas 22 Boot Camp

Good morning! Smile

Here we are at Week 3 already Shock

So today you have a choice: you can move on to Bootcamp Light, if you wish - which means you can re-introduce some fruit, some nuts/seeds and some (low carb) alcohol (drye wine and certain spirits). Note the use of the word some! This means in moderation - and not all of them at the same time Wink

If you wish, you can also now introduce/re-introduce intermittent fasting - most people drop breakfast, but it's up to you how you want to do this. @StuntNun has a thread about how to combine fasting with low carb for anyone who is interested in this approach.

You can, if you wish, remain on Bootcamp, if it suits you and it's working for you. Alternatively you can adopt a hybrid - so Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whichever route you decide upon, good luck! Flowers

A reminder re weeks 3 & 4 (and even 5)

It is very, very common for weight loss to slow or stop in weeks 3 and 4. If this happens to you, know that it's not just you! It's also very unlikely to be something you're doing, or not doing, if you've lost in the previous two weeks.

Just KOKO and things will get going again for you.

It is, though, also something to bear in mind if you do decide to switch to Bootcamp Light.

I’m tagging @FinallyHere to ask her to link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness so that I don’t link to an out-of-date one Blush

Good luck to everyone - hope you're continuing to see results either (or both) on the scales or NSVs (Non Scales Victories - leg clothes fitting better or better skin or more energy)

@ListenLinda I'm the same I have no off switch with anything, food or alcohol. I'm ok if I never start but once I start I can't stop. Don't panic if the scales say bad things this morning it'll be gone in a day or 2 as long as you draw a line under it.

@venusandmars I love the fat cell, it's imprinted on my mind and a fabulous reminder to help those little cells get a wash out. Water!!!!
@WitchWand I love knowing exactly what my body is doing and how it's going to react to things. I am a daily weigher (possible a lot more but that's a me problem). I know when I've had a pt session my weight goes up a couple of pounds, I think my poor muscles are holding onto the water begging. I know if I have alcohol my weight will go down a couple of pounds the next day and then up more the day after as it tries to balance the water. It's fascinating. If only it wasn't so emotionally charged.
The chard was lovely but I think it's upset my stomach, I'm very bloated this morning.

Backstreets · 01/11/2022 08:23

Scales have started going wrong way, only myself to blame. Absolutely exhausting day at work yesterday, lot of absences and difficult visitors, and I just physically needed that glass of wine when I got back home (no regrets honestly...). But, have a good week menu planned and fully intend on leaving a little early today and going to the gym tonight. We KOKO

KitchenFishCurry · 01/11/2022 09:17

Thanks for the welcome @prettybird and @FinallyHere I do have the low carb performance book I must make myself read it again. I have run 26 miles before and was low carbing at the time but it wasn't an event (just for fun ? lockdown) it was slow but I hadn't trained for it and only previously got to 13 miles. I want to be faster this time. In the past I've never done fuelling whilst running so with my friend we have been trying out various things but I can't co ordinate running and eating at the same time and don't want to go down the gels route. My 16 week plan starts in 3 weeks so I'll just have to wing it and as you say a lot of the long runs are supposed to be slower than your normal pace . There's a lot of stuff on the internet about running to heart rate etc but I think it is also about training your body to use fat as a fuel.
Yesterday
Breakfast greek yoghurt
Lunch tuna mayo salad
snack before running cheese and chicken sandwiched together
Dinner veg cheese and bacon frittata

Sunsnowsun · 01/11/2022 09:19

Morning all @Chocasaurus hope you feel better soon.

I am back to where I was last week, so it was definitely a blip, just planning my food for today as am out running a meeting tonight.

I also love the fat cell picture, it is a really good visual.

koko and water water every one

ZiggZagg · 01/11/2022 09:22

Welcome @KitchenFishCurry !

After a positive start to my time in Scotland, I had an emotional day at my cousins funeral which led to a bad flare up of Fibro pain, which then led to me eating 2 cobs with tuna sweetcorn, a packet of beef monster munch and a doner kebab with chips when I got home Sad which in turn led to more pain and exhaustion! As well as the 400 mile round trip in 2 days!

Back on the wagon today, lots of water. Steak salad for lunch and maybe omelette for dinner! KOKO!

AlhambraQueen · 01/11/2022 09:48

Hi I'm back from all the wedding madness. Realise I posted on wrong thread. I put on a pound which I think is amazing considering curry and rice was the only meal on offer 2x a day. I ate salad with curry when it was available or just a handful of rice when it wasn't. Fridge is stocked, went to the gym yesterday. I'm gonna go 3x a week. I need to lose 50 lbs and realised at the gym just how heavy it is. No wonder I feel so tired all the time, lugging that around.

venusandmars · 01/11/2022 12:26

We have lots of Hallowe'en treats left. Not many little kids in our street - they've all grown up so only one lot of guisers. The sweets/spooky bircuits are all going into dh's treat cupboard, the money has been returned to my purse, and the clementines are in the fruit bowl, probably until they shrivel up Halloween Grin

B - coffee with cream
L - avocado, then boiled eggs mashed with butter
D ??? veg box has just arrived with huge turnip, leeks, kale, big cauliflower (plus usually onions, carrots, lettuce tomatoes, mushrooms) I'll meal plan around that for the remainder of the week. Probably a big lot of cheesy coleslaw for lunches, some turnip, kale and onion bake (with cheese and mustard and loads of butter) and something shepherd's pie like with topping of masked turnip, leeks, cauliflower, and probably some kind of curry with spiced roast cauliflower...

StuntNun · 01/11/2022 12:41

@KitchenFishCurry I wouldn't necessarily rule out gels to enhance running performance. It takes a good while, perhaps three months or more, to adapt to intensive exercise on a low carb diet. If you're going to be burning the carbs/calories from the gels during your run then there should be little impact.

Crazyone84 · 01/11/2022 15:14

right, confession time.........

I have eaten and eaten and eaten....all the wrong things and I just want more! cake, chocolate, gummy sweets and that was just last night. Today after a good breakfast of yoghurt and boiled egg with coffee, lunch I had a delicious chicken and egg salad with mayo and mozzarella. I took a walk out for some fresh air and ate chicken strips (ok these are fine) but walked past (into) greggs and had a sausage roll and a donut, what is wrong with me????!!!!!!
can someone kick me up the arse and give me a talking to?
I am so tired from the weekend of toddler play dates in the woods, clocks changing and losing sleep, really heavy period which has just wiped all my energy.
I don't weight myself because a few years back I found myself obsessed and would weight literally every few hours so I am going by my clothes and how I feel and look. I feel less bloated for sure and lighter but if I carry on like the last 24 hours it'll be a joke!

NotDonna · 01/11/2022 16:29

@Crazyone84 argh! No! I’m kicking you up the backside. Greggs sausage roll & donut! What are you like? I bet you weren’t even hungry. Maybe it’s something about denying yourself what you consider ‘goodies’? They’re not. You don’t need them and they’re not treats. If you get that urge again pop on here and someone can talk you down. Drink a ton of water and have a think about why? Plan for tomorrow and plan what you’ll do if you get the urge again. Don’t give up though. KOKO! You can do this xx

pinknsparkly · 01/11/2022 16:43

@Chocasaurus - sorry to hear you're in so much pain, hope you've got suitable painrelief and that you start improving soon!

Oh @Crazyone84 , that sounds like a tough day for you! It's done now, so there's no point beating yourself up about it. Draw a line under it and move forward afresh. Other than the tiredness/lack of energy, were you also actually hungry or just wanting a snack? Can you plan ahead and have some snacks pre-prepared in the fridge for next time? They aren't allowed until you're on bootcamp light, but I always keep a little pre-packaged bag of mixed nuts in my backpack as they're something I enjoy eating and keep well. Or I snack on cherry tomatoes/cucumber and a mint or chai tea if I'm home when the urge for something sweet kicks in (the tea satisfies the "sweet" and the veggies actually provide some volume for my greedy belly!). I have also done similar on autopilot, and even gone as far as spitting out a half eaten muffin when I realised what I was doing. I think in some ways, it's the habitual snacking that you don't even really think about that's the hardest to stop because you're (or at least for me) not nearly as aware of it!

pinknsparkly · 01/11/2022 16:44

Oh and @Crazyone84 make sure you drink plenty of water tonight and tomorrow to try and counteract the carbs!

Crazyone84 · 01/11/2022 17:20

No I wasn't hungry, I was just in not thinking, I was in auto pilot seeking instant gratification from a bloody sausage roll and the glazed doughnut was calling to me from its glass prison! stupid bloody carb-y food! Stupid me!

ditavonteesed · 01/11/2022 17:37

@Crazyone84 don't fall into the guilt beating yourself up rabbit hole, you'll end up punishing yourself and finding it even harder. Draw a line under it, drink as much as you can and imagine your washing all the crap out.

debka · 01/11/2022 17:49

@Crazyone84 the important thing is to get back on the wagon straight away. But try and have some compassion for yourself- tiredness can be a real trigger for binges for lots of people, you've got a lot going on too. It's a marathon not a sprint, we all wobble sometimes, try not to beat yourself up. Flowers

Pump class went much better today with no fainting, which was good! Plus I had breakfast beforehand just in case.

B- eggs and butter
L- cauliflower cheese and gammon
S- pork scratching
D- shepherds pie with cauliflower mash
Just realised I'm double cauliflowering today!

sheepdreams · 01/11/2022 17:52

I can completely relate to you Crazyone84 as I too have literally fallen into a VAT of carbs! It has reinforced how awful I feel🤮 after eating them and behaving like a sugar 👺 My tummy also now looks bloated. It’s been a bit of a revelation having experienced now how bad I feel eating carby food. I’m not going to get on the scales as I did so well on the beginning and will be v upset bu the gain I must inevitably have. I was looking for the wonderful post from one of the posters who did not with but outlined all of the benefits she felt on boot camp diet so would be so grateful if the poster could post it again or one of you lovely people could direct me to it. Crazyone84 I’m just going to draw a line under my lapse and start afresh after all we are only human. I’m going to take inspiration from the lovely people on this thread. Take care all and thank you if you have read my rambling this far! I’m KOKO😀

ditavonteesed · 01/11/2022 18:05

@debka glad your class went better, I was brave and did a class today, body conditioning. It was great.

Also on the talk down front can I have a talk down, I was going to have an omelet for tea but I need to go to the shop and get eggs, and for no apparent reason I can't stop thinking about Pringles. I don't want them, I really don't. I want an omlet and I also am not even hungry.

ditavonteesed · 01/11/2022 18:33

No Pringles, I bought Brie instead

sheepdreams · 01/11/2022 19:19

ditavonteesed that looks delicious

Baystard · 01/11/2022 19:59

@ditavonteesed that plate looks lovely. I mean the cheese is obviously fantastic (ohhh I love cheese too much), but the actual plate, lovely colours...do you mind me asking where you got it?

Oh dear @Crazyone84 , it's horrible when that happens but you've got the right idea - shake yourself off and get back on the wagon. Don't beat yourself up about it, feeling bad won't help you, chalk it up to experience and keep going.

@ZiggZagg that sounds like a horrible day you've had yesterday. How did you get on today, have you managed to get a rest?

Great day today, had been at an event earlier and was expecting a soggy carby sandwich lunch and was thrilled it turned out to be a great LC friendly buffet (and delicious into the bargain).

ditavonteesed · 01/11/2022 20:09

@Baystard it's an ikea copy of denby.

Mmmmmm cheese

Baystard · 01/11/2022 20:11

A beautiful plate and it contains cheese. I feel quite emotional @ditavonteesedBlushGrin

ZiggZagg · 01/11/2022 20:23

@Baystard , yes I've had the day off work, did lunch with a friend after going back to bed once DCs were at school, just chilled!

S i had 50g of roasted peanuts ( will post a pic, lifesaver as they are pre portions so no temptation to have a bit more! Blush)

Have drank all the water tooHalo
