Week 3 Pre-Christmas 22 Boot Camp

Good morning! Smile

Here we are at Week 3 already Shock

So today you have a choice: you can move on to Bootcamp Light, if you wish - which means you can re-introduce some fruit, some nuts/seeds and some (low carb) alcohol (drye wine and certain spirits). Note the use of the word some! This means in moderation - and not all of them at the same time Wink

If you wish, you can also now introduce/re-introduce intermittent fasting - most people drop breakfast, but it's up to you how you want to do this. @StuntNun has a thread about how to combine fasting with low carb for anyone who is interested in this approach.

You can, if you wish, remain on Bootcamp, if it suits you and it's working for you. Alternatively you can adopt a hybrid - so Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whichever route you decide upon, good luck! Flowers

A reminder re weeks 3 & 4 (and even 5)

It is very, very common for weight loss to slow or stop in weeks 3 and 4. If this happens to you, know that it's not just you! It's also very unlikely to be something you're doing, or not doing, if you've lost in the previous two weeks.

Just KOKO and things will get going again for you.

It is, though, also something to bear in mind if you do decide to switch to Bootcamp Light.

I’m tagging @FinallyHere to ask her to link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness so that I don’t link to an out-of-date one Blush

Good luck to everyone - hope you're continuing to see results either (or both) on the scales or NSVs (Non Scales Victories - leg clothes fitting better or better skin or more energy)

@ditavonteesed getting enough sleep is also important for weight loss. Your sleep last night may have been poor quality, so a nap now is absoloutely the right thing to do. Feel good about it, know you've made the right choice Smile
@debka your dinner sounds / looks great. I find that eating out on this woe is not too hard although there can be some hidden carbs / sugars.

B - coffee with cream, although I'm thinking of cutting back on the cream, I seem to consume a lot of it what me, slurping cream out of the carton stratight from the fridge. Never Blush
L - left over turnip and leek mash with egg
D - cabbegeree (my take on kedgeree) I make cabbage rice - also with some cauli rice today - and fry it with onions in butter, add lots of curry spices: corriander, cumin, fenugreek, chilli - and top with poached smoked haddock and quartered soft boiled eggs. Yum!

ditavonteesed · 04/11/2022 11:50

@venusandmars I knew there was a reason I like you

venusandmars · 04/11/2022 11:51

@ZiggZagg can't wait to see photos of your puppy <<excited squeal>> We've been guide dog puppy walkers so have lived in the perpetual puppy stage - not doing it at the moment so dh can enjoy his retirement without responsibilities except v.elderly parents Puppy training is so important to have a dog that grows up to be lovely...

Skiphopbump · 04/11/2022 12:36

I’m making fish pie for dinner and came across this recipe- it seems incredibly indulgent with all the butter, cream and cheese!

Sunsnowsun · 04/11/2022 17:13

@ZiggZagg congratulations on the puppy, we have a springer Spaniel, so I can talk spaniel stuff with you 😀. I totally agree @venusandmars re good puppy training makes for a lovely dog. If you download the app 1 second a day it is a really lovely record of the puppy time, we have it from the day we collected ours, till he was a couple of months old.

I have been staying the same on the scales and then remembered that we are in week 3 and that staying the same is what happens, I was starting to feel discouraged so have given myself a pep talk 😀.

ListenLinda · 04/11/2022 19:53

Is anyone else finding they are getting fuller, quicker?
The last quarter of a meal is tough going last couple of days, but as i’m
not really eating breakfast I feel like I should eat two full meals. I’m guessing this is not the thing to do, I should just stop eating but I hate waste!

ditavonteesed · 04/11/2022 20:06

@ListenLinda if your not hungry anyway it's waste. Makes no difference if it goes in You or in the bin it is still gone.

ListenLinda · 04/11/2022 20:09

@ditavonteesed you have a point!
DH has just brought me a cup of tea and added a splash of cream for me cause he is a good egg, that’s my belly very satsified until lunch time tomorrow 😂

ditavonteesed · 04/11/2022 20:11

Bless him that's really sweet.

I am very much feeling the JOMO sitting in my pjs @BIWI

Backstreets · 04/11/2022 20:59

New easy snack is the shoogled sprouts with a few cubes of feta cheese and sliced cherry tomato, with some flaky salt over

ZiggZagg · 04/11/2022 21:53

Little Iris (DCs picked the name!)

Hubby still not agreeing to having it but we have a full day and a half to put our arguments across 🤣

Week 3 Pre-Christmas 22 Boot Camp
ZiggZagg · 04/11/2022 21:56

Busy busy day today again.

Had breakfast this morning (something must have been preparing me for the day!)

B 2 little avocados and a packet of nuts (50g)

Then a whole day of Friday madness, getting home at 8.30 when I finished at 5pm (life of a Social Worker Halloween Angry)

D just now was roast beef, salad, cheese and coleslaw

Trying to catch up on water only 2l up to now!

CrystalTits · 05/11/2022 00:33

@prettybird The LC custard is super easy. Just blend half a cup (125ml) double cream with one whole egg and a little vanilla paste/extract, plus 1/2 tsp stevia or erythritol if you feel you need it (remember BIWI’s big stick is omnipresent!).

Pour the mix into a bowl placed over a bain marie (a saucepan with boiling water that doesn’t touch the base of the custard bowl) then keep the water simmering away as you whisk the egg and cream mix until it thickens. I just use a balloon whisk, it doesn’t take long. Set it a bit more in the fridge if you can resist eating it all as you stand at the hob! I can’t…

ditavonteesed · 05/11/2022 07:38

Squee @ZiggZagg she is beautiful.
@CrystalTits anything that involves a Bain Marie is not simple (I'm not a very adventurous cook).
@Backstreets that sounds like a good snack.
I've booked on body pump this morning to try out. Been enjoying trying classes this week.
Weight is doing classic post drinking and up up up. That's it for going out for me for the rest of this bootcamp I think. I tend to go out 3 times a year and then remember why I don't like it.
Week off has gone far too quickly, back to work tomorrow.

Skiphopbump · 05/11/2022 10:26

@ZiggZagg shes super cute, looks very similar to mine when I got her. My DH was also reluctant to get a dog but have in when he realised how much it would benefit DS (he has SEN). DH wasn’t very interested in her at the beginning and she didn’t pay any attention to him either and wouldn’t even let him walk her - now they are inseparable and love each other so much!

I made the fish pie yesterday and it was ok, the cauliflower topping was too wet and it all mixed in when serving.

NotDonna · 05/11/2022 10:44

Happy weekend campers. It’s drizzly here and I’m really not fancying another soggy dog walk. The puppy looks very cute ziggzagg and if your family is anything like mine no one will care about DH’s opinion. My DH was against then turned to ambivalence. But was the first to let him upstairs, onto the sofa and most definitely encouraged cuddles. We’ve a cavapoo who is incredibly affectionate so even grumpy DH can’t resist.

What’s the view around seeds please?
I often have muddled eggs with cherry toms, spinach all fried in butter and throw on some mixed seeds. I didn’t add the seeds yesterday as not too sure if they’re carby and/or one of those things that should be eaten in moderation like nuts and berries. Plus I’m still doing strict bc.

Im also doing 16:8 which is going well but I do have a pretty big lunch which I’m sure more than compensates for the missed bfast. I’m weighing daily and it’s a tadge bouncy but with the general direction of down. I have the Happy Scale app that I love as it curves out all the bumps and gives predictions. It’s suggesting I could reach my goal weight by Xmas if I keep this up. I’m doubtful as I know it’ll slow down.

How’s everyone else’s weekend shaping up?

Newlease · 05/11/2022 13:43

Hello all.. glad to see so many of us KOKO, well done every one.. I did Jan and May Boot camp, but as someone else mentioned, I am very strict when I do this for 8 weeks, wouldn't give in for any temptation, but once I am off the hook, it goes down very qucikly for me. I had good reasons both times, away for more than a month after both BCs, lots of family and friends staying over( I remmeber reading your comment, BIWI about being lazy to cook, Its not that I am lazy to cook BC food for people, they all come to mine to eat yummy home made food from myside- which is carb up on carb even in dessert, the reason why I am on diet over and over again..but can't deny them just because I am on diet )
But fed up of starting again on the same weight the third time, and luckily no guests for next 6 weeks, so trying to do it relegioulsy and I have put a target for myself, which should help. Only downside is water intake. In May BC i have finally learned to drink 3Ls a day and it helped with weight loss a lot than before. But my house ( first winter here and wfh) is soo cold, I can't drink water at all.. Instead I drink more than 4 cups of black coffee / coffee with cream per day. Can anyone suggest a good bottle, that I can use for lime squeesed water, and get it cleaned properly.. I think it would massively help, but every single plastic or other wise I feel like, won't be suitable for anything other than plain water- which I can't bring near my mouth in winter -- really driving me crazy. please help !!

@ZiggZagg Awww she is super cute and lovely name. post more pics please and I hope you get to keep it, I wanted one for ages, but not going to happen anytime soon..
I started adding food to MFP, which I used to do many moons ago, good to see it tracking my cream intake, @venusandmars I am addicted to cream as well and yogurt with clotted cream is my dessert while on BC.. Happy weekend everyone. I had few busy weeks at work but read through all the messages now, sorry for not contributiing at all. :(

Skiphopbump · 05/11/2022 13:54

@Newlease I’m fussy about water bottles but really like these glass ones, I got mine from TK Maxx

ditavonteesed · 05/11/2022 14:36

Did body pump, was very self conscious as the instructor was watching me all the time and correcting me which I know is the point but I felt a bit silly, anyway enjoyed it a lot will do again.
Had breakfast at 1.30. I'm really happy now I have discovered I can work out before I eat I was always too scared to try. I think it will make a big difference, nsv I didn't look too bad in the full length mirror working out had to keep looking to make sure I had my form right.

debka · 05/11/2022 14:55

Glad you enjoyed Body Pump @ditavonteesed . It's liberating when you realise you don't have to eat first! I'm a keen morning exerciser (by which I mean if I don't do it in the morning I don't do it at all), and I pretty much always exercise fasted.

Making a beef casserole for dinner which I put a bottle of beer in before realising it's going to be pretty carby. Whoops. Was going to serve it with roasted swede and tender stem broccoli.

FinallyHere · 05/11/2022 15:21

I'm inspired by the morning exercisers @ditavonteesed and @debka

Was about to join your chorus that morning fasted exercise is great but remembered just in time that I haven't been doing anything much since ... ohh, first few of weeks of the first lockdown when I didn't have much else to do. 😋

@Newlease I too struggle with drinking water when the weather cools down. I have been using an old 1.7l cafetière filled with hot water flavoured by fresh ginger, mint and/or lemon/lime solo or in combination.

I use an old tall heat proof glass intended for latte. Lukewarm works for me and is quite comforting. Two jugs full a day and I'm done.

Mostly ginger when I am noticing just how wet and miserably chilly it is outside. Using fresh is a particular treat though I always keep some dried herbs and bottled juice too incase I run out of fresh.

In summer I'm happier with plain water when out and about and use cucumber and/or lemon

ditavonteesed · 05/11/2022 15:42

I've had to buy a smaller bottle for exercise classes I feel a bit silly with my 1.5 litre one which is weird because I drink the whole thing during a gym session.

Heck chicken Italian sausages and sprouts for dinner.

Tomorrows plan,
Greek yoghurt
2 x baby bel
Prawn cocktail and a massive salad and stay the hell out of the office.

prettybird · 05/11/2022 16:00

Sorry - I'm not going to be able to pick up on everyone's posts and question (now down South in Shropshire Wink for the fancy dinner and wine tasting) so here are just a couple of comments....

@NotDonna - if you're still on Strict BootCamp, then seeds (and nuts) are a No No - as mentioned in The Rules Wink You can have them in moderation once you move on to Boot Camp Light Smile

@CrystalTits - thanks for the custard recipe. Now that I come to think of it, I've effectively made low carb custard when I've made low carb crème brûlées.

We arrived down here last night at about 6. I hadn't eaten anything all day, so I had two Pepperami when we got into our accommodation and then when we went out to a pub for a meal, I had Chicken Caesar salad (asked for no croutons but they put them in anyway Hmm so I had to pick them out Halo) and drank water (volunteered to drive the narrow country lanes back).

Oh prettybird I’m so very very envious.
