Morning all!

As ever, here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Looking forward to reading how you all got on.

Hopefully it's good news, but if it's not what you expected then have a think about what you've been doing - read the rules again and make sure you know what to do.

If you're sure you've been following the rules, then post and let me know what your last 3-4 days have been like in terms of what you've been eating and drinking.

@venusandmars thanks for your suggestions, meatzza definitely does not appeal but you did made me realise I didn’t have to have a takeaway just because I was getting one for DS.
@prettybird 10st 10 or 150lbs is my next mini goal. I was 151.25 on Mondays weigh in so hoping to make it next Monday. I was weighed today as part of getting in a harness for an aerial adventure zip line torture thing. It was an old non digital scale. It was 10 st 12 and they wrote 11st on the form and I felt like correcting them!

Todays food
B- Greek yoghurt with a spoon of keto granola (basically nuts and seeds will make my own in future.) I am in week 3 of BC so allowed myself have this.
L Spinch, mushrooms, tomatoes and eggs fried in butter
D Chicken Caesar with no croutons
S Cheese and olives

prettybird · 04/08/2022 20:55

I made the Armenian lamb last night (sorry, can't remember who posted it Blush). It was a great success - so much so that although I'd planned for it to do tonight as well (for 3 of us), it only lasted last night with enough left over for lunch for ds Shock

Ds had it with rice, while dh and I had it with buttery microwaved shredded Savoy cabbage.

Yummy Smile

ditavonteesed · 04/08/2022 21:04

@prettybird well done great loss.

@5thWisdom I love Nando's sauces and they all seem pretty low carb.

@rushka sorry your dealing with stress.

Just back from my meal, had salt and pepper chicken wings followed by chicken ceasur salad, was delicious, drank soda water. Very smug.

DearieMeWhatsUp · 04/08/2022 21:10

I was away last weekend and ate rubbish so started my boot camp on Tuesday - after being
Low carb for ages before then, it just made me feel so awful, and my stomach has hurt for days. So happy to be back to eating this way - it just wasn't worth it at all! I didn't even enjoy it that much.

Working out the house today last minute so had to grab M&S rollitos for lunch, sea bass with roast veg for dinner.

venusandmars · 04/08/2022 21:32

@5thWisdom the cole slaw (which I think you corrected to 7g of sugar) means that about 4-5g of carbs were from the veg and the rest was basically added sugar (in various forms - honey, sucrose, fructose). If you make home made coleslaw with cabbage and carrot and even beetroot, then add loads of good mayonnaise, and some horseradish and grated cheese and some chopped capers... you'll have a wonderful dish that is a main and not a side.

It is so sad that our 'tastes' have become so accustomed to sweet thing that so many foods have sugar added to make them 'palatable'. We really do not need them. But it is a cheap way for food corps to add taste.

Readers, I have to admit a great sin. Today I ate a fish finger. My dgc were having them, one got left... It must be 10 years since I had one. To be honest, it wasn't great, but in the moment it was more tempting than... a glass of wine, or a sugar donut, or a slice of toast. Ah well, maybe in another 10 years when I'm 71, I'll have another fish finger.

comfortablyfrumpy · 04/08/2022 21:56

I am currently on hols with no access to scales, so I did early weigh on Saturday.
Breakfast has been easy - camping breakfast of eggs, bacon and mushrooms.
Other meals not always so easy :) but have been managed to stick to it. My holiday let up has been wine on weeknights, but I stick to dry white. KOKO :)

Lougle · 04/08/2022 22:36

Well done for all the successes. We're half way through week 2, so that's good going.

B - Greek yoghurt & clotted cream
L - 2 hard boiled eggs
D - chicken & bacon salad

Fluids: 4 litres

SettingPrecedents · 04/08/2022 22:46

I decided to take some “before” photos today. Let’s just say they were motivating!

Made spaghetti bolognese tonight - basically made the sauce, then when it was almost cooked I added a bit of boiling water and a white cabbage chopped in to ribbons. Simmered it all together for about 15 mins. Turned out really tasty, I’d definitely recommend cabbage as a pasta sub! Even my 4 year old ate three bites and pronounced it yummy.

SettingPrecedents · 04/08/2022 22:47

I’m not drinking enough water though. I think tomorrow I’ll fill several bottles and put them in the fridge, so I can see what I have left.

5thWisdom · 04/08/2022 22:50

@SettingPrecedents I've got two 1.5l water bottles in the fridge and aim is to need to refill both by end of the day.

Whicker · 05/08/2022 08:13

Brilliant NSV today. When I sit down and suck my stomach in, I can now suck it in far enough to see my fanj!

Baystard · 05/08/2022 08:46

@Whicker best NSV ever 😂

Frenchpoodle · 05/08/2022 10:20

Hi all, I’m jumping on rather late if that’s okay. Past few months have been awful with work, very long days, lots of travel and terrible junky food as just no time to plan or cook.

But I’m back on the wagon as I know this way of eating is so good for me. I’m not going to be weighing, instead just concentrating on how much better I feel (and whether I can see my fanj if I suck my stomach in @Whicker - brilliant 😂)

Food plans for today:
Making a fancy dinner to eat in the garden for a kick start. Fennel and smoked salmon salad to start then halibut with anchovy and caper butter, leek vinaigrette and frizzy leaf salad 😋

BIWI · 05/08/2022 11:08

Love this post @Baystard!

try to imagine the unrest in your gut is because your carb-loving gut gremlins flora, who have hitherto been running a bit of a protection racket, are being shown the door by the good bugs - it'll settle down once they finally realise they're beaten 😂

Hopefully things have settled down for you now @loopylu26 and @colouringindoors?

Re the sort-of thrush, I don't know about that, but I'd suggest that if it's really bad, that you up your carbs a little for a few days (but with more carby veg, not bread or pasta!)

Welcome (back!) @Pleaseandthankyou and also welcome to you @Frenchpoodle - the fancy dinner sounds lovely!

Good going @prettybird

@rushka sorry to hear you're having a stressful time - it's good that you recognise that to be a trigger. The wine was probably OK (as long as it wasn't several bottles!) but please try to avoid the orange juice - pure sugar and too carby I'm afraid.

I did laugh @venusandmars at the idea of one fish finger every 10 years Grin

... and also laughed at your post @Whicker - definitely a good NSV Grin

Our guests have left this morning. It was lovely having them here, but also glad to have the house back. To accommodate them, we gave up our bed/bedroom and have been sleeping on the sofabed for the last three nights. Not too uncomfortable, but obviously couldn't go to bed until everyone else did, and had to be up first!

Anyone else sat at their desk surreptitiously doing the @Whicker test...?

Chocasaurus · 05/08/2022 19:14

@Whicker 😂 adding that to my mini goals!

Today's LBW is the movicol I have been taking has finally started to get things, ahem, moving.

My plans cancelled for tonight, which brings me to a total of 3/3 cancelled plans for the weekend 😣at least I won't be tempted but dessert tonight.

B = greek yoghurt and cinnamon
L = poached egg and ham salad
D = marinated chicken thighs on a bed of spinach
W = 3+ litres.

Going to enjoy the last bit of sunshine in the garden with a cols glass of water whist DH puts DC to bed. not lusting after a cold glass of rose, honest

colouringindoors · 05/08/2022 19:32

Am now on hols so this woe will be a challenge for me. I'm at the coast and I would normally enjoy some fish and chips and a cream tea (not on the same day though!) Have been good today though despite hours driving in traffic, only deviation was a 125 glass dry white wine. Onwards..
B greek yog
L prawns mayo and salad
D aubergine and mozzarella with a bit of tomato sauce.

Baystard · 05/08/2022 20:33

Sorry no wonderful recipes from me, having become reacquainted with genuine hunger I've been taking immense pleasure from simple food.

Tonight for supper I gently fried a few cherry tomatoes, little piece of green pepper, a little oregano and a spring onion in dripping then flung in 4 well salted beaten eggs. Heavenly!

I'm still struggling with the @Whicker test but it's mainly because of greatness-of-nork 😂and whilst I've not been measuring I've obviously lost inches this week.

Pleaseandthankyou · 05/08/2022 20:47

After a long day I was very tempted by a takeaway. Instead I fried an onion, added chorizo and leftover roast chicken. Turfed in some cauliflower rice straight from the freezer. A bit of soy sauce. Once the cauli had defrosted I broke an egg in the pan and stirred it until the egg was cooked and mixed through. Took about 5 mins and hit the spot.

Baystard · 05/08/2022 21:11

@Pleaseandthankyou that sounds really tasty!

5thWisdom · 05/08/2022 21:13

Inspired by everyone's resistance to temptation and will power. The weekends are really tough - and we've come away camping. I'd normally be half way through a bottle of white wine by now, watching the sunset on a campsite, fire lit, farm animals in earshot.

Thankfully, barbecues are made for this WOE! Yay!

I would say that I'm much calmer and clear headed (obviously) without a drink. Also knowing the early camping mornings won't be achey-headed! Good feelings.

We're off for a lovely long ramble along the coast path tomorrow which will be great. Lots of lovely farm shops nearby too.

Enjoy your evenings all - we're all doing amazingly!

Lougle · 05/08/2022 22:23

I'm not doing well this week. I'm sticking to plan but I'm feeling grumpy about it and all the food looks really boring. I'm 0.3kg up, which I know logically is just natural variation, but it's added to the grumpy feeling because I can't even say it's working (even though I know it is). It's most likely stress related because both DD1 and DD2 are having tough times. Just parking that here.

b - yoghurt and clotted cream
L - egg salad
D - lamb chops, broccoli and mushrooms in butter.
