Morning all!

As ever, here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Looking forward to reading how you all got on.

Hopefully it's good news, but if it's not what you expected then have a think about what you've been doing - read the rules again and make sure you know what to do.

If you're sure you've been following the rules, then post and let me know what your last 3-4 days have been like in terms of what you've been eating and drinking.

I stated the same, but had Covid so are stuff that I shouldn’t ( that I could taste and smell ) Am on it this week! 💪

ChairOfInvisibleStudies · 01/08/2022 13:41

I hope no-one mind but I'm going to post my weekend food here as well as a bit of an ongoing diary/inspiration to come back to/motivation tool...

B: Greek yogurt, coffee with cream
L: boiled egg, mayonnaise, salad
D: pork and venison burger with a slice of cheese and more salad

B: same as above (same as always Grin)
L: cheese, ham, salad with mayonnaise
D: roast lamb, feta, salad, olives

Today
B: the usual
L: chorizo slices, coleslaw, olives, kimchi, pepper and cucumber sticks, cherry tomatoes, small glass of kefir
D: will be the Tuscan chicken recipe posted on a previous thread, with FLGV

Looking forward to getting a bit more variety of veg in now that I'm home - I like salad but still...!

I haven’t weighed (far too scared I’ll see no difference!) although I do think I look a bit better and my IBS hasn’t been nearly as bad after a horrific few weeks pre-bootcamp. It does ebb and flow a lot so too early to say it’s down to BC but the improvement has definitely been more rapid than normal. Had to take DH to a garage in the middle on nowhere with his car early this morning and there was a little craft bakery nearby where we waited. I was all whiny and poor me (ie a proper PITA) about it but they did have cream so I ordered coffee. I was sniffing the bread smells and saying I was trying not to feel sorry for myself about not having anything as I was trying a low carb way of living and the woman said she could make me shashuka (spelling) if I was hungry. I’d never heard of it before I saw it mentioned on here the other day so I said yes and OMG. Delicious. She told me just to drop 3 quid into the charity box for it as there wasn’t a code on the till for it. How kind and thoughtful was that? Actually her niceness set me up for the day almost as much as the lovely breakfast and reminded me that sometimes you can do something small for someone and have it turn their day around without you even realising your impact. (Sorry, all a bit woo now!)

Forpoxsake · 01/08/2022 14:06

2lbs down for me but I have struggled with water intake this week, just really busy and not always near toilets!

can anyone recommend a decent but not too expensive set of digital scales please?
I have non digital and it’s really hard to see the lbs difference from so far away, I’ve resorted to weighing in kgs for now

ditavonteesed · 01/08/2022 14:26

@WhoAteTheChips that's lovely
I'm going here tomorrow, ideas what I should eat? It's all so on your I have no idea what most of it even is.

ditavonteesed · 01/08/2022 14:27

@Forpoxsake Aldi often have them, depends on your budget but the renpho ones are ace, link to an app so you have proper graphs and things.

Forpoxsake · 01/08/2022 15:02

Thank you @ditavonteesed
I had a salter set last but they were rubbish

BasiliskStare · 01/08/2022 15:16

So I am exactly the weight I started at , but during the week I did go up 2lb and those have gone. So that is a Good Thing for me. DH did say sustainable weight loss typically happens slowly. So I am going to stop hopping on the scales every day and see what next Monday brings.

I think I have followed all the rules - the one caveat being I am struggling to drink the 3 or more litres of water others seem to be doing. I can get through to pretty much 2 if I really focus. So that probably is my thing to concentrate on this week.

Also @WhoAteTheChips I have a condition which isn't IBS but in the same family of things and I have noticed that has improved without bread and pasta - so that is a plus for me.

rushka · 01/08/2022 15:24

Well done everyone! Great to see losses, and to be inspired by all the water drinking 😄 Meals today:
B omelette w mushrooms, courgette, green pepper & cheese
L black beans (I’m doing lite/veggie version!!) w lettuce, avocado, tomato, cucumber, bit of grated cheese & vinaigrette dressing (didn’t have a massive doughnut which all the family had… not hard to resist as I’m not a huge fan but previously I might have eaten it regardless; I’m finding stopping bread/pasta/cereal has made a huge difference on not getting sugar cravings) Had a square of 80% choc just to keep me from missing out… (sorry to the super-strict but this is all about being healthy while not triggering previous disordered eating so I’m doing what works for me!!)
s will be salmon& leeks in crème fraiche, maybe broccoli and potatoes for rest of family.

Good afternoon Bootcampers

I’m absolutely thrilled and amazed with a loss of 7.2lbs for week 1, so surprised as I’ve not been hungry once and only peckish a couple of times. I expected to struggle over the weekend as love a Friday night G&T or a glass of wine but just kept busy and soon forgot although I had a tiny craving last night as usually enjoy a couple of glasses when I’m cooking Sunday dinner but the football was a really good distraction.

I found it a little difficult for the first few days, occasional headaches, not much of an appetite and was struggling to get used to the richer foods. By the end of the week I was enjoying full fat mayo, adding plenty of oil and butter then scoffed all the roast chicken skin for last night’s dinner. I’d forgotten how delicious chicken skin was after decades of not indulging although my dog looked very disappointed so will share next time – maybe!

NSVs for last week were by Sunday being able to tie up my trainers without having to undo my Jeans and feeling more energised and less bloated

Fail – coffee with cream, just not for me. I’ll take the hit with a coffee and a little milk

This week’s goal – try to eat more variations, I tend to eat the same foods on rotation but it’s a really busy work week so perhaps just keeping to WOE is this week’s goal

Have a great week everyone!

sushinelove · 01/08/2022 15:38

Still the same weight for me. I'm reasonably happy with that though since I only started on Thursday. Marginal difference in my waistband, feels slightly easier so I'm counting that as a win 😂

For those struggling with the water, try sparkling instead of still, I've found it makes a huge difference

Bananajam · 01/08/2022 16:01

Hi everyone, another small loss for me this week and although I'm trying to maintain at my current weight, it's always a thrill to see the scales going down a bit rather than up!
I have four weeks to our holiday and I'm picking up the bikinis I ordered from Next this week as a treat for myself. I probably won't feel up to walking around without a cover-up but considering I wouldn't have felt comfortable in most of my clothes last year, this is a huge change!
Well done everyone regardless of what the scales told you this morning!

How lovely! Shakshuka is my favourite breakfast now although I wouldn't have thanked you for it pre-diet, I was all about the buttery pastry!

Baystard · 01/08/2022 16:11

[shuffles in]

I made it back after a shameful few weeks of beige crap but I'm back on the wagon today. Not weighed yet as I think I'll find it too shaming and disappointing given how great I looked and felt a month ago but I'll do that later in the week once I feel a bit better.

Thanks to @BIWI and @FinallyHere for getting this up and running, sorry I was AWOL for a while. Catching up as quickly as I can now.

B & L- black coffee (intermittent faster of many years)
D- roast pork with a veg traybake of peppers, tomatoes, onion and feta.

I'm enjoying black coffee over ice when the weather is warm, it's very refreshing (vaguely reminiscent of coke).

Whilst lying in the ditch waiting on the wagon coming back around I noticed that whilst the rest of the household aren't LC, when I'm LC I definitely make healthier family meals, agree less readily to takeaway, buy more varied healthy ingredients. Another good reason to get back on it now!

averywittyusername · 01/08/2022 17:13

I'm delighted with a loss of 2lbs. It is a way of life for me now and I feel great. For the first time in a huge number of years I'm below 12st.. and I'm feeling so confident about my ability to keep this up!

Lucienandjean · 01/08/2022 17:22

I'm happy to have lost 3lbs in week 1. For me that's a pretty good loss as I usually lose slowly.

I've struggled a bit with the no berries rule - I usually have a few with yogurt on the days I eat breakfast. So instead I've been fasting everyday until lunchtime whereas usually I fast on only 3 or 4 days a week.

Keeping up with the water mostly.

B: fasting
L: (picnic with my grandkids so a bit 'whatever I can find and transport') Egg mayo with cucumber and pepper strips. Cherry tomatoes. Piece of cheese.
D: will be homemade lamb kofte kebabs, salad, asparagus, coleslaw.

catwithflowers · 01/08/2022 17:25

A loss here too but the more amazing thing is my blood pressure! A few weeks ago I was monitoring my BP on the advice of the practice nurse as it was higher than it should be but not quite high enough for medication.

My previous readings were in the region of 140/90 or sometimes higher. The last few days I've been keeping track and an average reading is around 125/78. The only thing I have changed over the last 10 days is to eat a low carb diet. Coincidence? Or a revelation?

prettybird · 01/08/2022 17:44

Only one more week of the no berries rule @Lucienandjean Smile

Have you tried a pinch of cinnamon with your yoghurt?

BIWI · 01/08/2022 17:44

Not a coincidence at all @catwithflowers! That's why I always post the bit about checking with your gp if you're on medication, at the beginning of the first thread!

catwithflowers · 01/08/2022 17:46

Amazing isn't it? My husband has also been low-carbing with me for the last week and has seen an 8lb loss. He also has to do a blood pressure monitor over the next week so it will be really interesting to see if his BP follows the same pattern. 🤞

Cinnamon?? Ugh, no, sorry, @prettybird 🤢. It's the spice of the devil!

As you say, it's only one more week. I'm sure going without is character-building 😬.

catwithflowers · 01/08/2022 18:03

@BIWI I guess it's because I'm NOT on medication that I skip read that part 🙈. That'll teach me to read things properly! 😂

prettybird · 01/08/2022 18:09

You could try vanilla powder instead @Lucienandjean wierdo who doesn't like cinnamon Wink

Or even a pinch of unsweetened cocoa powder.

Lucienandjean · 01/08/2022 18:33

@prettybird cocoa powder? Now you're talking! Great idea.
