Morning all!

As ever, here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Looking forward to reading how you all got on.

Hopefully it's good news, but if it's not what you expected then have a think about what you've been doing - read the rules again and make sure you know what to do.

If you're sure you've been following the rules, then post and let me know what your last 3-4 days have been like in terms of what you've been eating and drinking.

@cupcakedaisy as long as you're not having problems when you go, i.e pain/straining, then a reduced frequency is fine. Just make sure you're eating plenty of veg/salad as this is getting fibre into your system.

@CleanQueen123 I like to drink rum and sparkling water, with lots ice and sliced lime. Mount Gay Eclipse (a golden rum) is my favourite, and I can pretend I'm back in Barbados when I'm drinking that! It has the advantage of being both carb-free and sweetener-free

That is right up my street @BIWI! You are a low carb genius!

5thWisdom · 07/08/2022 10:27

Finding this chat very helpful - although I know myself well enough to know that I'm much better staying off alcohol for time being, until this WOE is really established as second nature.

Walked 8 miles of glorious coastal path yesterday. Arrived back hungry, was quickly full of BBQ chicken and salad (couldn't eat it all). Was fine until bedtime when I just craved Maltesers! Ignored it completely and fell asleep. I think it was just tired!

Looking forward to weigh-day Monday! Hope everyone has a good day today.

StuntNun · 07/08/2022 11:06

@CleanQueen123 I've been having white wine spritzers lately of about 60% wine to 40% soda water. Less carbs, less alcohol and more fizz than wine - what's not to like?!

SummerSazz · 07/08/2022 14:23

@BIWI I've always had the Tanqueray (used to get it on Amazon for £14 and Tesco sometimes does it at this price and I think it's a very good substitute (and I'm pretty picky!!). However a friend left some Gordon's and it seems good too. I'll do a taste test side by side when I'm changing over!

My favourite gin is Chase grapefruit gin hence I add a dash of grapefruit to mine.

CleanQueen123 · 07/08/2022 16:03

@StuntNun that's an idea as well.

I don't drink at home and I don't always drink when I'm out but it's nice to know there are options and I'm not doomed to be sat sipping fizzy water forever!

Baystard · 07/08/2022 16:29

Help - can I freeze stir fry? Supper is stir fry but my appetite isn't great and I'm thinking it would be good for me to have a bit less of the veg and add an egg or two to my plate to make it a bit more energy/protein dense. Unfortunately I'm committed in terms of the overall quantity I cook or I'd just make less. Ideally I'd freeze any leftover and have it some day for lunch with an omelette or something, but will it be horrid reheated from frozen?

ChairOfInvisibleStudies · 07/08/2022 17:19

I can't imagine it would be too nice to be honest, I think it will likely go very mushy once defrosted again.

Bunce1 · 07/08/2022 17:25

Don’t freeze just keep in fridge for lunch tomorrow?

I would have it with a fried egg on top for breakfast, Japanese style!

Baystard · 07/08/2022 18:36

Thanks very much @ChairOfInvisibleStudies and @Bunce1 that's good advice. I'll keep it in the fridge and use a the basis for an omelette, possibly on Tuesday evening since I'll be on my own for supper and can please myself. The stir fry with a plain 2 egg omelette was lovely and having done the egg in lots of beef dripping it will have boosted the fat.

I've been extra strict this week to try to get things back under control but I think it's worked, clothes fit better again. @BIWI is a single square of 90% chocolate allowed during the first two weeks?

venusandmars · 07/08/2022 18:49

@CleanQueen123 have you tried any of the 'hard seltzers' that are available in supermarkets? Like these for example. They are made with grain alcohol (so a bit like vodka) and soda, and have 0.6g carb per 100ml (about 2g carb for a 330ml can). I don't know if they're available in pubs / restaurants though.

I've had a hectic week and next week looks similar. Even though it included several nice things, I find I feel a bit stressed just looking at my diary. Made Sunday lunch for SIL today and managed to avoid the yorkshire puddings. Had confit duck leg, carrots roasted in olive oil and spices, cualiflower cheese, cabbage and green beans. Had a few strawberries after with yogurt and double cream I know we're not supposed to have them until tomorrow

CleanQueen123 · 07/08/2022 19:01

@venusandmars I haven't but I like the sound of them. It's nice to have options isn't it. It stops it feeling restrictive.

ChimneyPot · 07/08/2022 19:46

I tried the terrible looking LC bread I ordered online and it is actually ok toasted, especially when smothered in butter or pate. Flax seeds seem to be one of the main ingredients so hoping it helps with digestion.

Todays food
B Coffee with a dash of cream
L- ham, salami, cheese and coleslaw. We were visiting family but I did not eat the rolls, croissants, cheesecake or chocolate cake everyone else had!
D Roast beef, horse radish, creamed celeriac, butter cabbage and broccoli. ( I cooked but did not eat Yorkshires, mash potatoes, potato croquettes, roast potatoes and stuffing.)
Snack. LC bread with pate.

Even though I didn’t eat lots of the carby food that the family had I felt I had really lovely food today and didn’t feel deprived.

Only had about 2litres of water today plus several decaf black coffees so I will drink more water this evening.

I have tasted those hard seltzer’s and really don’t like them.

Baystard · 07/08/2022 20:07

Has anyone else ever avoided making a LC recipe they've found in case it doesn't live up to expectations?! Found a recipe for cheesy garlicky slow cooker bread that sounds great but I'm worried I'm salivating in prospect of an end result like foccacia, which might not be possible using cauliflower 😕 😂

Wishing everyone good luck with tomorrow's weigh-in.

ChairOfInvisibleStudies · 07/08/2022 20:35

@Baystard I've never enjoyed any of the bread substitutes and would rather go without to be honest, although I haven't tried the SLC (I think?) ones BIWI recommended on the last thread yet.

I've had an ok week I think. Went out for dinner with a friend on Friday night, I thought I made good choices (prawns in garlic butter, grilled pork with green beans and salad) but the next day I was sooo snacky and craving carbs so I do wonder if there was some hidden sugar. I guess that's the danger with any meal you don't cook yourself. Anyway, the good news is I resisted the cravings and today was much easier.

B: coffee with cream, realised much later that I actually forgot to eat anything but by then it was basically lunchtime anyway
L: egg mayonnaise, small piece chorizo, cucumber and pepper sticks, lettuce, tomato, coleslaw, olives, kefir
D: turkey mince 'Bolognese' with FLGV

From tomorrow I will probably keep skipping breakfast. It's my natural inclination anyway.

Wishing the Monday weighers luck on the scales tomorrow 🙂

cupcakedaisy · 07/08/2022 21:00

Thanks @BIWI Hopefully it will sort itself out shortly.

FinallyHere · 07/08/2022 21:08

My alcohol of choice is a glass of dry champagne. Especially when out in company, choosing and ordering a glass of champagne sets a lovely 'we are out, out' and having fun vibe.

And is served in a 125ml glass so no need to choose what size of glass, and say the dispiriting 'no, just a small glass, please'

I always say I'm thirsty and ask for a big bottle of still water. Keep drinking the water and savour the champagne.

I've never been able to drink much but low carb appears to have reduced my tolerance for alcohol, making it easy to stick to one glass.

Alternatively, one shot of ouzo lends a deliciously aniseed flavour to a litre to water.

SummerSazz · 07/08/2022 22:26

@FinallyHere aniseed is firmly in the box with seaweed thins Envy (that's queasy not jealous btw!)

FinallyHere · 07/08/2022 22:30

@SummerSazz 😁

LesleyA · 07/08/2022 22:48

How do I join this? And what’s required? Read? Calories?

LesleyA · 07/08/2022 22:49

Please.
seems amazing!!

BIWI · 07/08/2022 23:27

@LesleyA you will be very welcome to join! But please first read the rules, which are linked to in the spreadsheet, in my OP

It's absolutely NOT about calories, though.

Morning all, glad we're still on the wagon. I'm up 0.6lbs this week, but tbh I'm so close to target (2.8lbs) that I can't expect to lose loads each week, and it would start to be a bit of a problem if I did. KOKO

bandbsmummy · 08/08/2022 08:00

Please can I join too?
I've been watching but we've had a house move, 2 holidays and now living with my parents to content with 😫

I've read the rules but would love advice for doing this with a dairy allergy.

comfortablyfrumpy · 08/08/2022 08:01

Morning all.
1lb down this morning. Pleased with that, as holiday last week could have easily derailed things!
Now 12 St which I haven't been for a good few years :)
Onwards and downwards. Happy Weigh Day, all.

CleanQueen123 · 08/08/2022 08:02

3lbs down this week which surprised me because my period is due so usually I hold on to it all.

Well done everyone. On to week 3!
