Evening/all morning all

As ever here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Please be aware that this week, like week 3, is likely to see little or no weight loss.

Just KOKO! If it's worked for you in the first two weeks, then it will keep on working for you from here on in.

It's about transitioning from carb burning to fat burning.

Flowers and good luck to us all from next week!

@Benvolio

Bollocks bollocks bollocks. I need to start again.

Just attended a formal dinner, black tie celebtation. I was supervising as well as sort of hosting, but not organising, so I had no control of menu. Would have been thought rude and odd if I had left too much food, particularly as there were teenagers there (and I was starving). I had some pastry, a small potato, half my rich chocolate pudding and a glass of not v nice rather sweet fizz. As well as some beef, salad and brocoli.

Bollocks.

@Benvolio oh dear!

But life happens. Sometimes there's nothing you can do but go with the flow.

Be super strict for the next few days, drink ALL the water and keep your fat levels high. Do some/some more exercise and you should be fine.

@ThatsAllFolks @BaconOmelette it drives me mad when 'experts' tell us that if only we slept better, we would lose weight.

They are clearly not people who have ever suffered from insomnia! Nobody likes having a poor night's sleep. And if there was a way I could get people to sleep through the night AND lose all the weight I would surely be a billionaire by now.

@BIWI thanks for your sensible advice. It helps me to stay determined not to throw in the towel, which I am apt to do.

FrenchBoule · 10/02/2022 09:41

@Onelittlepiglet will have to check the shop when I’m there next (only went there on Monday). I bought some Turkish leaf tea for my friend before- can’t remember the brand but tea was from Sri Lanka.

Thanks for the info @Baystard, was wondering if anything could be done in this department to ease off the troubles a bit. DS2 has treatment for his issues so have a few laxatives in the house. Was seriously thinking about “borrowing” a spoon or two…
By the way, do you soak linseed first or just add it dry? I know it goes a bit jelly like when soaked but not everybody likes it(me included)

I think I have both chia and linseed in my cupboard as I tend to buy some strange stuff sometimes then wonder what to do with it (tinned banana flowers anyone?)

@Benvolio it’s a bit of a set back, not the end of the world. Shake off pastry crumbs from your chin and get back on the wagon.
I know what you mean about food waste- made some delicious garlic bread yesterday for my brood. About 1/3 of it left and went to the bin. I ate a small piece and it was divine. Heartbreaking having to throw it away.

@Frenchpoodle I think it’s you who I can blame for my duck craving. It’s usually a centerpiece of our Christmas dinner and now I want one. Very underrated meat.

Foodwise- same old, same old - more fatty bacon, cheese, eggs, avocado and so on. Have several packets opened so need to shuffle things to make it a bit more variable and use it before it goes off.

KOKO losers 🙂

off to stick my head in the freezer (looking for an inspiration for tonight’s dinner) and do a bit of housekeeping then snooze before work overnight

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 10/02/2022 11:00

@venusandmars that 'whoosh' link makes a lot of sense. Or at least it's good to know it's an observed phenomenon, even if the science looks a bit pseudo!

I was low carb for almost all of 2020 and had plateaued by November when I almost hit my target weight. A 3 day birthday binge put 3lbs back on but then when I went back to Lchf I lost another 9 lbs!

And that stayed off for a couple of months even when I stopped low carb.

So...hold out for the whoosh, maybe even after boot camp.

CeleriacOfTheNight · 10/02/2022 12:18

Afternoon everyone

Am just working my way through a lovely bowl of peppers, squash, shallot and spinach, all done in the air fryer with olive oil, and finished off with a bit of goats cheese and a fried egg. Threw a few chilli flakes and chia seeds on there as well

CrystalTits · 10/02/2022 12:54

Totally lost my appetite this week. I inadvertently did a 36 hour fast by just not feeling hungry yesterday, only drinking BC and water. Back on the LCHF today but feeling really quite ambivalent about food, which is totally novel for me. I'm going to make an effort to get plenty of fats in today.

Does anyone else find this happens? I'm in week 4.

prettybird · 10/02/2022 12:59

@CrystalTits - that's what I love about this WoE Smile Food stops controlling you - and you realise that it's actually rare to feel real hunger.

CrystalTits · 10/02/2022 13:12

@prettybird - it's a revelation isn't it? Apart from the weight loss, the appetite suppression is the best thing for me about this WoE. I feel liberated from the daily tyranny of food thoughts constantly in my mind.

Frenchpoodle · 10/02/2022 15:14

@FrenchBoule I will post the duck ragu recipe later, it was delicious and apart I think pretty LC (will need opinions I think on whether it’s low carb enough as there is some red wine in the sauce)

I’ve just tested positive for Corona Sad I’ve been sick on and off for three weeks now, testing negative throughout. What a bloody pain

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 10/02/2022 16:13

I went to the Royal Academy of Art today to see the Constable exhibit, and had the nicest low carb lunch - roasted celeriac steak topped with blue cheese, crispy shallots and kale and slivers of chilli. It was truly delicious,,and I may have reconsider my stance on never dealing with fresh celeriac to try and recreate it.

prettybird · 10/02/2022 16:22

Trust me @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal - if you have a big sharp knife and don't think about "peeling" a celeriac - just cut thick (>1cm) slices and then slicing off the edge bits - then it's not that difficult to deal with. Smile

It might be worth cutting a wee slice off on side of it before you start, so it's more stable as you cut down through it Wink

Benvolio · 10/02/2022 16:27

Feeling more optimistic: It's still proper daylight at nearly half past four.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 10/02/2022 16:44

I'll have to give it a try prettybird!

NigellaAwesome · 10/02/2022 16:44

@Benvolio I agree, it's really cheering to see it still light at this time.

Ski packing is underway and it is going slowly. I haven't weighed for a few days as the batteries in my scales died, but I'm hopeful things are still going the right way.

B: spinach stuffed mushrooms.

L: not hungry

D: will be roasted chicken thighs made with a rosemary & lemon gremolata stuffed under the skin and roasted root veg. I made it last night and it was amazing!

ditavonteesed · 10/02/2022 17:44

The whoosh is real and it's so satisfying when it happens.
I love the explanation. I now picture the little cells filling up every time I drink water.

6 days of 30 day shred, I'm a pound up so I decided to measure and I've lost an actual inch off my waist and half an inch of my hips, how is that even possible?

FinallyHere · 10/02/2022 19:51

Absolutely @ThatsAllFolks

One litre (1,000 ml) water weighs one kg (1000g)

I fell in love with the metric system when I learned that (in primary school, on mainland Europe). Never even read the chapter in the same book about rods, poles and perches.

FinallyHere · 10/02/2022 19:54

@UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea

My body requires at least one portion a day of (in descending order of effectiveness ) celeriac, spinach or raw cabbage for regular operation

Cauliflower and broccoli ok for maintenance.

SpottyBumPony · 10/02/2022 20:03

I haven't posted meals for a few days but it's been much the same.

My Montazuma order arrived today, some of the peanut butter eggs and a couple of bars of absolute black. I had two squares after dinner, it's a bit dry so will try it with some extra thick cream at the weekend.

I'm going to do a Macmillan Mighty Hike in September with some friends. 13.5 miles, I think 26 miles is too much.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 10/02/2022 20:05

@FinallyHere nothing is really working food wise so I need to resort to something more targeted! Beer always works but that a LCBC no-no! Grin

BIWI · 10/02/2022 20:31

You could always try sugar-free gummy bears ...

have a read of this ...

Strong coffee
High strength vitamin C tablet
Lots of water/fat
Up the exercise
'Forceful' massage of the stomach

Ensure your carbs are really coming from your veg/salad

Consider introducing a slice of wholemeal bread/toast

... all things that might help

(I have no idea about chia seeds/flaxseed as I've never used them)

SweetPotatoDumpling · 10/02/2022 20:50

Made these tonight...SOOOOOO good! I sprinkled a little garlic powder, paprika and sea salt over one batch to make a 'nacho' style, and some grated Parmesan and sea salt over a second batch.

thebigmansworld.com/keto-cheese-chips/

They'll keep in a Tupperware container for about a week, or you can freeze. 👍

FinallyHere · 10/02/2022 20:54

Ooohhh, those gummibears. I couldn't quite read all the way through.

I expect any of those 'sugar free' sweets might do something similar.

On holiday, I was sold a bag of senna pods by a lady in a chemist. I had been looking at the very expensive branded products. I didn't speak the language but sure got the message to try three pods in a cup of hot water at bedtime. Very effective.

ShangPie · 10/02/2022 21:21

@SweetPotatoDumpling glad they worked for you. I made some a few weeks ago but found them unpleasantly bitter. Not sure if my cheese was too mature and tangy, or whether I cooked them too long. Either way, I used them as croutons in a caesar salad Grin
