Morning all!

here's the spreadsheet . If you haven't already seen it, check out the new info for veg/nuts/fruit that @AthelstaneTheUnready has added to it. Updated (and hopefully now the most accurate) data for all three categories, and all grouped into traffic light categories - green to eat freely (when allowed, in the case of nuts and fruit), amber to be more cautious about and red to avoid as much as possible.

If there's a particular ingredient that isn't on there, just let me know and I'll find the data for that and add it.

And now to week 4

A reminder that this week is also one where you're unlikely to see much loss - and possibly may see a gain. Just remember that THIS IS PERFECTLY NORMAL! Don't panic, but just KOKO and things should get moving again from next week.

Off to catch up with the end of last week's thread now. Hope everyone has an enjoyable bank holiday Monday Flowers

@ilovecherries wow! That's some story (albeit abbreviated). I'm with you on the 'this is how I eat now' and just now, on holiday, I simply do not eat cake, ice creams, bread, pasta. But I find it hard to resist biscuits with my cheese or crisps. Your story has renewed my determination. Thanks

cheeseisthebest · 04/05/2021 21:19

Thank you ilovecherries that is really inspiring and I am so sorry for your loss.

cheeseisthebest · 04/05/2021 21:20

Found out today we are definitely getting a puppy in 3 months time. I'm nervous and excited all at the same time!

blackbettybramblejam · 04/05/2021 21:21

Place marking but like to only weigh every 4 weeks because I get easily discouraged!
I am at the stage I sometimes get to where I become really non plussed by food in general. Without the cravings I just can’t be bothered with it. Tonight I made myself have a buttery omelette with a pile of butter fried asparagus and I did eat it but I’ve just become a bit blah about food. Good for weight loss but very out of character for me. Does anyone else have this experience when low carbing?

PseudoBadger · 04/05/2021 21:21

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well and KOKO.
I need some help! I am working as poll clerk on Thursday - the day starts at 06.15 (so commute from 5.15) and then we go right through to 10pm. Home by 11 I hope.
I will be in central (west) London with all the usual shops/cafes. The venue has. I microwave but does have a fridge. What shall I do for food?
So far I am thinking coffee with cream early, and take cream and my own coffee. Take Greek yoghurt for breakfast, and some salami and boiled eggs for snacks. Make a tuna salad for lunch and maybe some almond cheese muffins also. Emergency nuts and itsu seaweed. Dinner is a problem. I guess I could make mini quiche things.
What do you think?

Jellycatspyjamas · 04/05/2021 21:22

I’ve been a bit absent from the thread so just caught up. @ilovecherries thanks for that summary, it definitely helps to think “this is just how I eat now” rather than counting boot camp weeks - particularly if I slip up it’s easier to just get back on course instead of thinking I’ve broken my diet and there’s no point in continuing.

Food today was

L. chicken stir fry I was going to have last night but the most awful period pain got in the way. Had cheese on toast (SLC bread) instead, stir fry was good for lunch. Dinner was a bolognese sauce with crispy fried kale - it was really good, cooked the sauce low and slow which really helped the flavour.

Hope today has been ok for folks, Flowers for folk going through a fought time.

PseudoBadger · 04/05/2021 21:23

Probably some emergency dark chocolate for the bleaker hours too.

I think my reheating lunchbox was designed for this very scenario 🤣

order it!

And thank you so doing your bit!

Yes I definitely have.
cheeseisthebest · 04/05/2021 21:29

Pseudobadger that sounds a good plan.. maybe salad too or some soup in a flask?

PseudoBadger · 04/05/2021 21:33

Thanks @nowlook - I think a flask with soup is a better bet for now but thank you anyway!
And thank you @cheeseisthebest - I will do a celeriac soup tomorrow.

PseudoBadger · 04/05/2021 21:36

And have the soup for lunch and the tuna salad for dinner.

cheeseisthebest · 04/05/2021 21:39

Sounds perfect. Smile

PseudoBadger · 04/05/2021 21:40

Actually just remembered the other week I made an amazing chicken thigh stew which would be perfect

Bestbees · 04/05/2021 21:58

@ilovecherries great post. I have had similar revealations on this woe, both about what I actually want to eat and also on what my weight will stabalise at and making peace with that as it comes with a healthy woe.

I seem to be loosing a lot of hair at the moment. Is this a low carb thing? I eat lots of veg, regular oily fish. Is there something else I should be eating?

FinallyHere · 04/05/2021 22:08

become a bit blah about food.

@blackbettybramblejam

I think I understand. Compared to the highs and lows of the sugar roller coaster, I find this WOE much more even tempered.

It's generally a good thing but I do sometimes feel nostalgic for this days.

Nowadays I am less driven by attractive possibly addictive good so make sensible meal plans, starting with the veg which will provide bulk for the meal, then protein & fats to make it more interesting. I do also bother even weekdays to make majo or ceaser dressing, cut some herbs etc.

My strongest incentive to keep away from sugar and wheat is the risk that I might waken that sleeping dragon

Tickledtrout · 04/05/2021 22:13

@blackbettybramblejam me yesterday and today absolutely. I can almost always fancy cheese though so am working with that.

BestIsWest · 04/05/2021 22:18

A very inspiring post @ilovecherries.

Didn’t feel like breakfast today but knew I wouldn’t get lunch until at least 3 (men, networks and firewalls again, this project will never get off the ground) so I had a coffee with cream and two Brazil nuts.

Had an omelette around 3:30.
Dinner was a prawn and avocado salad with lots of garlic and chilli mayo. Plus a small bowl of Greek yog with 3 strawberries.

All the water.

Rayna37 · 04/05/2021 22:20

Lovely dinner of kedgeree tonight, I made enough for tomorrow too. The recipe is on the seafood thread along with a few other versions I think obviously I like mine best

True First World Problem today- my cleaner was sick meaning I don't get to luxuriate in a clean DH-free home for the rest of the week AND it meant I had to do the ironing! It's sooo clean and tidy though (as long as you don't look at the floors too closely Confused)

Better weigh-in this morning, Renpho scales ordered and yoga done before bed with a book and peppermint tea.

DH could have joined in with the thread- he sent me a photo of the steak with Stilton, asparagus and mushrooms he cooked in the campervan in his Premier Inn car park. Living the high life.

StuntNun · 04/05/2021 22:34

Bestbees some people do experience hair loss when they lose weight, it's not because of low carb specifically. It happens because your hair enters the shedding part of the hair growth cycle early. New hair should continue to grow from the follicle to replace the shed hair. If you're worried then make sure you're getting all your micronutrients. You could take a multivitamin, you can get ones specifically to promote hair health.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 04/05/2021 22:48

@cheeseisthebest hopefully we’ll have a new BC thread by then?Because we will need pics. Lots of pics 😍 What breed are you going for?

Flowers @ZiggZagg, hope today went as well as it could.

@PseudoBadger definitely recommend soup! I made loads for the freezer and added so many extra greens and smooshed hard boiled eggs that a spoon practically stands up in itConfused It’s sooo filling and sooooo good. And a great way to get FLGV into one meal, something I can be quite bad at Blush

Didn’t do so well on the water today, must concentrate on that tomorrow. Food on plan though lunch still too snacky, must do better

KOKO everyone, there were so many posts I wanted to reply to but they’ve gone completely out of my head 🤦🏻‍♀️ Must adopt a PPs suggestion of note taking!

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 04/05/2021 22:50

@Bestbees if you’ve had Covid, some people have reported hair loss as a side effect too.

ilovecherries · 04/05/2021 22:55

Cant help with the hair loss I’m afraid - I’m completely bald 🤣. I did have a final massive shed when I lost weight, but I’d been bald off and on since 19, with each episode of recovery being less robust than the previous one. But from what I understand, weight loss itself can cause hair loss, which usually recovers.

ilovecherries · 04/05/2021 22:59

Another day spent mostly in the toilet Grin. Meals have been a bit boring, DH kindly doing all the cooking do I need to get back into that. Basically though I’ve just been eating family meals without the carbs. Had coffee with cream about noon, then broccoli soup and cheese about 2pm. Dinner was a pork chop and cabbage. I’m still shattered though, so have also had a few naps.

Bootcamp lurker here!

Hi @PseudoBadger,

Snap! I'm in Scotland but working as a Polling Assistant for the Scottish Parliament elections 6.15am-10.30pm (or whenever we are allowed to leave). We aren't allowed to leave the building to go to the shops and only have definite access to a kettle (there will possibly be more kitchen equipment but it's in a random church hall so who knows?!).

I worked at the General Election in December 2019 and, because we didn't really get proper breaks, I found it easier to take small snacks things rather than meals. Here's my list so far:-

Salad leaves
Salad dressing
Cottage cheese
Ham & cream cheese wraps
Miso soup
Tofu
Keto crackers & butter
Pack of salami, cheese & olives, nuts etc
Teabags, mug, milk

It's a long day but it will eventually be over! I hope you have fun and get paired with a nice buddy (how much do you get paid? I'm interested if it's comparable!).

I will return to lurking now!
