Morning all!

here's the spreadsheet . If you haven't already seen it, check out the new info for veg/nuts/fruit that @AthelstaneTheUnready has added to it. Updated (and hopefully now the most accurate) data for all three categories, and all grouped into traffic light categories - green to eat freely (when allowed, in the case of nuts and fruit), amber to be more cautious about and red to avoid as much as possible.

If there's a particular ingredient that isn't on there, just let me know and I'll find the data for that and add it.

And now to week 4

A reminder that this week is also one where you're unlikely to see much loss - and possibly may see a gain. Just remember that THIS IS PERFECTLY NORMAL! Don't panic, but just KOKO and things should get moving again from next week.

Off to catch up with the end of last week's thread now. Hope everyone has an enjoyable bank holiday Monday Flowers

Thinking of you @ZiggZagg

Yesterday

B - Greek yog with
L - omelette with shallot and a little bit of cheddar
D Chicken with 40 cloves of garlic (I didn’t eat the garlic, the cloves were roasted whole), Celeriac chips with chorizo. This was bloody lovely. I’m not a fan of celeriac mashed but roasted it was really nice.

BIWI · 04/05/2021 08:13

Sorry that things are so tough @colouringindoors Flowers. Advice from others to start afresh is the best though.

@Random789 have you checked out the Bootcamp recipe threads? If you go to the Low Carb Bootcamp topic board you'll find them there. They are stickied at the top of the board, but sometimes their stickies drop off - also, because there's a limit to the number of stickies on each page, you'll find the others on page two

@BestIsWest I'm not a fan of celeriac mashed on its own, (apart from with butter) generally. So usually I add a couple of sliced leeks, that I've fried/softened in butter. On Sunday I made it but then realised I didn't have any leeks - as I was serving it with beef, I added a dollop of horseradish and an egg yolk that I had left over from another recipe - it was really good!

Thinking of you, ZiggZagg.

Urgh work. I Can't get moving. God help me when we go back to the daily commute! 8.30 and I am still in bed while oh showers.

Rshard · 04/05/2021 08:27

Thinking of you today ziggzagg

prettybird · 04/05/2021 08:33

Woohoo - 2.75lb off for me, down to 11st 0.25lb Smile The 10st somethings are within sight! ShockGrin This the lightest I've been for (I think) about 7 years. Smile

When I get under 11st, I'll try my Nicole Farhi dress on again Halo

Newbies should be aware that this level of loss (c12lb since the start of this Boot Camp) is not usual Confused: it's a consequence of a single week's infraction Shock for my birthday celebrations just before Boot Camp started - so a lot of the loss is simply the depletion of the rapidly filled glycogen stores. I'd got to 11st 1.75lb by 6 April, so as far as I'm concerned, my loss this Boot Camp is just 1.5lb Wink

prettybird · 04/05/2021 08:35

Thanks to you @ZiggZagg - and to everyone else who needs them.

Hope today is a better day @colouringindoors Thanks

ListenLinda · 04/05/2021 08:56

We’re off back to the hospital for dressing and stent removal today, woohoo!
The insurance want £250 excess if the ring is repairable so going to check if an independant can do it a bit cheaper. I thought our excess was £100, which it is generally but not for personal possessions outside the home. Bummer.
Made shepherds pie last night but had mashed swede with lots of butter on mine. Out and about today so taking plenty of water with me, hopefully not at the hospital for too long today.

colouringindoors · 04/05/2021 09:26

ziggzagg linda 💐💐💐

I could really do with a duvet day today.

BestIsWest · 04/05/2021 09:40

@BIWI thanks for the celeriac tips. No one else here will touch it but the addition of horseradish/leeks might change their mind.

MrsKoala · 04/05/2021 10:01

Morning all. Some of you are really going through the ringer, sending support and Flowers @ZiggZagg @AthelstaneTheUnready and @colouringindoors and to anyone else who needs it.

Hello to @ilovecherries we’ve been on a few threads before. So it’s lovely to see you here again.

@Bestbees that view is spectacular! Where is it? And @ChoosandChipsandSealingWaxthe Bluebells are sublime, I love it when they form a soft blue carpet like that.

I had a disastrous Sunday. We went out for the day with the dc and there was nothing for me to eat anywhere. All the menus I’d looked ahead at were much reduced to entirely carby fare. Lunch on Sunday was a piece of battered fish, dinner was half a portion of beef lasagne and a salad and then brunch on Monday was a sausage and bacon sandwich (I know I could have picked the meat out but I was ravenous by then). Anyway, I paid the price as about 10 mins after the sandwich I had a sharp feeling in my stomach and the urgent need for the toilet. I had to run back to the flat and almost didn’t make it before my body evacuated everything from the previous 3 days. I’m also seeing it on the scales as I’m at 12st 2lb which means my total loss is 2lb. But I’m okay with that and just back on it now.

Have a good day all. I’m off to the hairdresser for a patch test this morning, as even though I’ve had my hair coloured there for years, because of covid I may get a different reaction. Confused Everything is just so much more hassle now, I’m so over it!

BIWI · 04/05/2021 10:19

There's also a lovely recipe here @BestisWest - usually made with potato but works very well with celeriac:

Celeriac Tartiflette

Rough quantities:

500g celeriac, cut into small chunks, boiled in salted water till just tender (15-20 mins)
2 little packs smoked lardons (they are usually 2 small, linked packs)
2-3 echalion shallots, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic
100ml white wine
sloosh of double cream
a bay leaf or two
25g butter
Reblochon cheese - around 200-250g - cut into dice

While the celeriac is cooking, fry the shallots, lardons, garlic and bayleaves in butter in a frying pan, till all are soft/tender. Add the white wine and the cream and continue to cook gently till all is reduced.

Once the celeriac is cooked, drain it, put it into a casserole dish, add the onion/bacon/wine/cream mixture, stir in and then add the Reblochon. Stir together and season with black pepper.

Bake in the oven with a lid on the dish for around 20 minutes at around 180-200, then take the lid off and continue to cook for another 20 minutes until golden brown on top.

Lovely served with a green salad with a garlicky vinaigrette dressing.

Running on very very quickly to recommend you take piriton. I've had my hair died for over 25 years and got a very mild reaction to patch test. I was not going to let that stand in the way!!!

Back later!

nowlook · 04/05/2021 10:37

I've been keeping up with the thread over the past couple of days, but have not had time to post. Certainly won't bore you all with my various work dramas given everything that other posters have going on at the moment. My thoughts are very much with you today ZiggZagg.

Flowers to all of those who are having a torrid time.

I am eating well this week. Fortunately, I have a fridge freezer and a microwave. Only slight flaw in my plan in bringing all meals with me is that I didn't label them before I put them in the freezer, so it's a bit of a lucky dip. I either have lamb and leek hotpot, chicken alfredo, chicken curry or an omelette for lunch...I'm hoping it's not the omelette because I got that yesterday!

Hopeislost · 04/05/2021 10:38

Thanks to ZiggZagg and everyone that is having a rough time of it.

@ElasticFirecracker Homemade salad dressing is best but I keep a bottle of Cardini's Original Caesar on standby - only 1.4g carbs per 100g.

ilovecherries · 04/05/2021 10:39

One day back on it and the bloating has already subsided a bit and the politely named ‘early morning intestinal hurry’ was noticeably absent this morning. Since I felt quite over-fed and sick last night, I just haven’t bothered with breakfast today so far. If it gets much later I will probably just miss it.

BestIsWest · 04/05/2021 10:43

@BIWI thank you. I’ll add that to the list. Sounds wonderful.

@MrsKoala Covid seems to have very strange after effects on hair. DD lost clumps of it a few months after. Thankfully growing back now?

Rayna37 · 04/05/2021 10:51

I second HopeisLost with the recommendation for Cardini's Caesar dressing. If only I could remember to buy some. I just use olive oil mostly after realising it was the oil and vinegar French dressing I made that was putting me off salad!

Oneborneverydecade · 04/05/2021 11:32

Flowers thinking of you @ZiggZagg

DD's first proper morning at outside preschool this morning and I've used the time for a disastrous run (stopped after 15 mins) and watching RHOBH. Oops

@ilovecherries I know that you've had a tricky couple of lockdowns but you obviously had great success maintaining. Can you tell us a bit more about you did it

Rshard · 04/05/2021 11:55

mrskoala, my salon has instigated a colour smart passport system...for the princely sum of £15. Due to COVID and a change in legislation....which I queried and surprise surprise, no actual change in legislation. They are of course still doing the old skin test which I happily had. Annoyed that they’re essentially ripping off their customers tbh

FusionChefGeoff · 04/05/2021 12:35

@colouringindoors sounds like you let yourself get too hungry?? I can totally relate to that urge to dive into carbs when starving and limited options. I try to make sure I take a back up with me so I've got something to keep the wolf from the door in an emergency.

@ListenLinda that sounds like progress good luck

@nowlook I love freezer surprise

@ZiggZagg ThanksThanks for today

I'm feeling very upbeat / positive today. Post jab flu feeling has gone and smashing through a huge work to do list!

L: avocado, tikka chicken salad with the first of my homegrown coriander (love it when my grown your own stuff starts hitting my plate!), hm coleslaw, hm dressing, squirt of Mayo
Rhubarb and gk yog
D: leftover Turkish meat and salad

colouringindoors · 04/05/2021 12:49

fusion yep, should have taken snack with me definitely.

Need to meal plan a bit more this week.

L yummy m&s coriander garlic and chilli prawns with spinach salad and oily dressing
D Sea bass with herby butter and pile if broccoli.

Need some more meal ideas.

Aside from the famous alfredo chicken, what are people's favourite bootcamp dinner?

nowlook · 04/05/2021 13:04

It was thai green curry @FusionChefGeoff Grin

@colouringindoors mine is definitely the lamb and leek hotpot (with celeriac instead of potatoes). I'm the only person on this thread who eats it though, so you'll just have to take my word for it Wink

Also very partial to Ragz Dirty Fries, albeit it's hard to get them as crispy as I'd like in the oven.

ouchmyfeet · 04/05/2021 13:13

Anything with celeriac dauphinoise does it for me if I start to feel deprived. Cheeseburger pie is also a favourite, along with Nigella's lamb with chilli and garlic. The recipe is for cutlets, we had it with lovely fatty chops last night
