Morning all!

here's the spreadsheet . If you haven't already seen it, check out the new info for veg/nuts/fruit that @AthelstaneTheUnready has added to it. Updated (and hopefully now the most accurate) data for all three categories, and all grouped into traffic light categories - green to eat freely (when allowed, in the case of nuts and fruit), amber to be more cautious about and red to avoid as much as possible.

If there's a particular ingredient that isn't on there, just let me know and I'll find the data for that and add it.

And now to week 4

A reminder that this week is also one where you're unlikely to see much loss - and possibly may see a gain. Just remember that THIS IS PERFECTLY NORMAL! Don't panic, but just KOKO and things should get moving again from next week.

Off to catch up with the end of last week's thread now. Hope everyone has an enjoyable bank holiday Monday Flowers

Loving the rhubarb chat! @colouringindoors, rhubarb is 0.8g on the spreadsheet carb counter. I don’t add any sugar though. Just vanilla powder or some ginger or some orange zest. @Andi2020, I had it heated up in a bowl with melted butter stirred through. Sometimes I do have some ff yoghurt with it, but o had run out today

Moonswimmer · 03/05/2021 20:37

Sorry, forgot to reply to @cheeseisthebest!

The Vietnamese pork ball recipe: 20% fat pork mince, a huge teaspoon each of minced ginger and garlic and lemongrass, and some salt. I should have added some chopped chilli too. Will do that next time. Form them into golf ball shapes, flatten slightly to help with frying and then fry in sesame oil. The salad was cobbled together and was finely shredded iceberg lettuce, spring onion, the end of some manky fennel, and a lot of chopped coriander. Dressed in oil and a tiny shake of yuzu juice.

cheeseisthebest · 03/05/2021 20:51

Definitely going to make those thank you! What is yuzu juice?

cheeseisthebest · 03/05/2021 20:53

I wish I liked rhubarb but I don't. Although my palate might have changed. I used to hate fizzy water but bought some by mistake and like it now!

ilovecherries · 03/05/2021 20:56

Well, day one of back on it has gone fine. After the chaffles for breakfast, I had leftover chicken leg and some green veggies for lunch, and a home made burger and green salad for dinner. Couldn't finish the burger, def feeling a bit overfed today after subsisting on toast and cereal for ages. Have spent a large part of the day piddling Hmm. I'm exhausted now, heading off for a bath and bed.

Well done everyone celebrating losses!

Moonswimmer · 03/05/2021 20:56

Yuzu juice is basically some fancy citrus juice thing from Waitrose, in a tiny bottle at inflated cost, that I bought because I am a sucker.

Stokey · 03/05/2021 21:02

Yes it is Menieres @StuntNun. It's under control at the moment but had a pretty horrible time of it last year when I was getting diagnosed. Luckily I've been ok for the last 9 months or so, fingers crossed it lasts!

I've totally f$%ked up another day Sad

Thinnerlikeachickendinner · 03/05/2021 22:10

Re emerging after a shocking week - house buying and selling, so stupidly stressful. Sending Flowers to those having complex times and FlowersBrew to @ZiggZagg, I hope tomorrow goes okay for you.

Have managed to KOKO and lost one more pound. Had some minor digressions, but good ones compared to my usual fall-into-a-cake-by-this-stage ones.

Also feeling thinner around the middle.

venusandmars · 03/05/2021 22:20

@colouringindoors tell us what went wrong? Did it start well and then fall away, or was it way off from the start? Was there a trigger point, or an irrisistable item, or a fuck it moment? And importantly, what now? You can continue down the path or you can choose the other route, the BC one, and just get back on the horse.

colouringindoors · 03/05/2021 22:28

Started ok. Planned to take kids out for a bit - which we did. Ds not on good form. Everywhere rammed so couldn't get to usual cafe. So ended up home at 2 and in wenzels buying lunch.... and just ran out of willpower. So sarnie and cake. Struggled in pm with weather and both dcs so ate same dinner as them (not bc) followed by sorbet and chocolate. Feel yucky and pissed off with myself. Ds has just had another seizure so we're back in usual night before school week rubbishness. Think it'll be easier to get back on wagon when I'm back at work tomorrow. At least less temptation.

thank you venusandmars

prettybird · 03/05/2021 22:31

We used to have a regular poster - a guy in Canada, called something like @grahsoontobeafatty (reason being that he was initially obese) - and he had a lovely positive attitude that each day was Day 1. So not to be obsessed with all the days behind you, but to start each day afresh.

Would that approach help you @colouringindoors ? Puck yourself up and, as @venusandmars suggests, try to identify what the triggers were, and KOKO Smile

FinallyHere · 03/05/2021 22:43

Such a time, handhold for you @colouringindoors

Today's food was

Lunch three < 0.5/100g sausages
Bag spinach

Supper veal schnitzel DH cooked it in butter with last minute lemon juice added. With a few leaves and cucumber/yoghurt/garlic/coriander/mint

Goodness it was delicious

colouringindoors · 03/05/2021 22:50

thank you finallyhere
yes prettybird that's how i started today. Will try again tomorrow. Really don't want to give up - feel and look better already. Just hard with lots of stressful family stuff...

ouchmyfeet · 04/05/2021 06:21

It's just one day colouringindoors, don't beat yourself up about. As prettybird says, today is another! And in good news, it's not Monday Grin.

Bestbees · 04/05/2021 06:31

Can we start again together @colouringindoors? I felt so awful with hangover yesterday I ate toast and crisps. My carbiness was totally self inflicted. I have so much going on. Be kind to yourself and sit on the day one bench here with me Flowers

Plan for today
L big random salad of tuna, left over feta dip, slaw and avo.
D beef rendang with lots of green veg. Greek yoghurt.
MIM: swim
No snacks!
Have a good day everyone.

Bestbees · 04/05/2021 06:32

Oops I said I have so much going gon. I don't. That's why it's my own fault. You have so much going on, and are amazing! Star

Timetobuckup · 04/05/2021 07:11

Good look @Bestbees and @colouringindoors getting back on track today. One (or 2) bad days doesn't have to be the whole thing buggered.

I have got a really tough day at work today , will keep on track as that is probably the only thing I will be able to control today.

Makegoodchoices · 04/05/2021 07:31

Yesterday
B: yogurt post run
L: Almond pancakes, cream cheese & blueberries ( probably too many carbs in the ground almonds but I was craving all sorts of junk so decided something that felt/looked like a treat but wasn’t was my best move to not break completely.)
D: raw veg and cheese & chive dip

Today
B: yogurt
L: boiled eggs, veg and dip from yesterday
D: Satay Turkey burger and salad

Acid reflux still constant and horrible. Started taking omeprazole.

@colouringindoors & @bestbees Just one day, and a rainy bank hol at that.

Now we’re in May I’m motivated by summer clothing fear. 22nd is my first meet with loads of people so I’m keeping the focus on that and how I’d like to feel.

@Timetobuckup Snap - good luck with yours! Fortunately my worst bit is a lunchtime meeting, so reduces my stress eating options!

ElasticFirecracker · 04/05/2021 07:34

I love Paul Newman's Italian Salad Dressing.

I've always used it because it doesn't have sugar and therefore consider it to be a wise choice.

I have checked the label and it has 5.5g/100g carbs.

Is this too much?

These are the ingredients:

Water, Rapeseed Oil, Olive Oil (17%), Red Wine Vinegar (11%), White Wine Vinegar, Concentrated Lemon Juice, Extra Virgin Olive Oil (2%), Salt, Cracked Black Pepper, Dried Onion, Brown Mustard Seeds, Spirit Vinegar, Garlic Puree (0.5%), Celery Seeds, Stabiliser: Xanthan Gum, Acidity Regulator: Citric Acid, Ground Turmeric

Should I ditch it and make my own?

Random789 · 04/05/2021 07:35

Sorry you had a tough day yesterday colouringindoors, and bestbees, and anyone else whose been finding it hard. When people say 'today is a new day, a fresh start', it can wrongly feel sort of like a lie or a cheat, a 'get out of jail free' card. We are so good at being cruel to ourselves, at hanging on to the punishing idea that we carry our past along with us like the chain dragged by Marley's ghost. But we don't. Each day (and each hour, minute, second) really is a fresh start.

I've just ordered a second-hand copy of one of the books listed in the spreadsheet resources -- The Low-Carb Gourmet". I hope that the word 'gourmet' doesn't mean that receipes will be complicated or ambitious, since I'm a rubbish cook. I have very much enjoyed the food I've eaten over the last three weeks, because it is easy for the combo of high-fat food and fresh veg to be delicious. But I've found that I've been eating a very narrow range of very plain meals and I'm getting a bit bored. Need to zest it up a bit.

Jellycatspyjamas · 04/05/2021 07:37

@ZiggZagg I hope everything goes well today, you’re in my thoughts Flowers

Moonswimmer · 04/05/2021 07:50

Yes, thinking of you lots @ZiggZagg . Take good care of yourself.

Bestbees · 04/05/2021 07:51
