Morning all!

here's the spreadsheet . If you haven't already seen it, check out the new info for veg/nuts/fruit that @AthelstaneTheUnready has added to it. Updated (and hopefully now the most accurate) data for all three categories, and all grouped into traffic light categories - green to eat freely (when allowed, in the case of nuts and fruit), amber to be more cautious about and red to avoid as much as possible.

If there's a particular ingredient that isn't on there, just let me know and I'll find the data for that and add it.

And now to week 4

A reminder that this week is also one where you're unlikely to see much loss - and possibly may see a gain. Just remember that THIS IS PERFECTLY NORMAL! Don't panic, but just KOKO and things should get moving again from next week.

Off to catch up with the end of last week's thread now. Hope everyone has an enjoyable bank holiday Monday Flowers

human v. cat - human won with use of towel. minimum time and fuss. no blood/savlon.

Bootcamp NSV: healing!

I forget this every time, but I heal really quickly when I'm properly bootcamping. This morning's scratches which actually dripped blood on the rug, are now just thin red grazes on my hands. Marvellous NSV.

Stokey · 07/05/2021 21:40

@Random789 spookily I also finished Klara and the Sun today! Makes me want to do some sun worshipping, if only the weather would comply.

Well done to those struggling with alcohol temptations. I had to give up alcohol and caffeine last year due to migraines. I've gradually started having the odd g&t or glass of wine again, but don't really miss it and definitely don't miss the hangovers.

B: chia pudding - first time I'd tried this - chia seeds, coconut milk & vanilla essence put in the fridge overnight. It was tasty and very filling.
L: salad with slices of cheese
D: fish pie w asparagus & broccoli

& Went for an early evening walk in the forest so managed 18,000 steps.

Bestbees · 08/05/2021 07:35

I hope those trying alcohol for the first time in ages are OK this morning. I had 2 gin and sparkling waters and have a headache today, I think because I drank less water.

@BIWI well Done for completing the couch to 5k. I remember being disappointed I couldn't run it in the 30 mins immediately. But I still can't now (done it maybe twice!) so I think that's just my pace.

I have made my own yoghurt in the past and trying to get back into it. Have some straining now, made from full fat organic whole milk. Might experiment with stirring through vanilla or almond oil. I assume that it will be a decent carb:fat ratio but no idea how to tell!

Plan for today
L soup, boiled eggs
D homemade burgers, should have been salad but I have eaten it all so salad if I can be bothered to shop. If not roasted veg. Greek yoghurt.

Bestbees · 08/05/2021 07:36

Oops
MIM: weather is rubbish so some yoga probably. If I get a chance for a walk I will!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 08/05/2021 08:01

@Bestbees, most definitely not. I slept badly, felt nauseous in the early hours, have a pounding heart, puffy face, sore eyes, dry mouth, stiff fingers, and still feel a bit queasy. About 2/3rds of a bottle.

Am not tempted to do that again anytime in the near future.

Lots of lovely clean, cool, pure water for me today.

Bestbees · 08/05/2021 08:09

@AthelstaneTheUnready oh no! Well, I guess it makes it clear that it's not worth it!

nowlook · 08/05/2021 08:17

Cracking job @AthelstaneTheUnready Star

My first glass of wine after dry Jan and Feb tasted like port. Unfortunately, I persevered Wink

Rubbish day yesterday. Travelled the 5 hours back from Wales just in time to collect DS1 from school and transport him directly to A&E. Broken collarbone caused by horsing around in the playground. As such, I only drank a litre of water yesterday and had a vat of wine when I finally got home. Feel very dehydrated and also have a very grumpy teen who is ruled out of sport now for a couple of months.

Hope next week is a better one for all of us! Thanks

AthelstaneTheUnready · 08/05/2021 08:22

ouch @nowlook - hope it's more grumpy than painful now? And good luck patrolling teenager activity choices for a few months. not going to pull sceptical face

Moonswimmer · 08/05/2021 08:33

Ow! Hope you feel better soon @AthelstaneTheUnready. And hope your son heals well @nowlook.

Have just weighed myself over ten times to try to get myself 2oz under yesterday, as opposed to 2oz over. I don’t know why I couldn’t accept a tiny upwards fluctuation ffs.

prettybird · 08/05/2021 08:39

@nowlook Sad for your ds. How old is he? Of all the "big" bones, the collarbone is one of the best to break as it's the quickest to heal. Lots of ds' cycling friends broke their collarbones, but of course, when he broke his, aged 13, it was playing rugby Confused

He was initially given a 2+ month healing time by the doctor in A&E which my dad (former paediatric radiologist who did of course check the X ray that we took a picture of Wink) said was based on adult rather than paediatric healing times (young bones heal quicker). The follow up appointment with the orthopaedic consultant was better (although with hindsight, should've taken him to paediatric A&E rather than the local A&E - which is also relatively close to us). Iirc, he was back doing non-contact training within 6 weeks.

nowlook · 08/05/2021 08:47

He's 14 @prettybird (and, yes, it was "rugby" he was playing in the playground. They said exactly what you did- nice clean break, but would've been better if he's done it a couple of years ago.

nowlook · 08/05/2021 08:49

Fat finger typos, sorry. Fortunately we've got a paediatric A&E at Derby. Fingers crossed that we get better news (in terms of timescales) at the fracture clinic on Tuesday!

prettybird · 08/05/2021 08:53

My dad's particular speciality was bone age Smile

To be fair on ds, he was actually at after-school rugby training but got landed on by the biggest guy in the team Shock School just thought he was a bit bruised but asked me to come and get him: I knew immediately it was a broken collarbone. Fortunately it was not long before Christmas so the amount of actual time out he had to ensure was minimised.

Bestbees · 08/05/2021 09:23

@nowlook I hope your ds heals fast.

I seem not to be able to manage skippi g breakfast at the weekend so have had eggs, yog and pnb. Blush

cheeseisthebest · 08/05/2021 09:24

Oh nowlook you really didn't need thar did you. Your poor son.
Very glad it's not my turn to take the 9 year old to football today, its horrible out there.
I have just weighed and I'm 9st 12! Weight is falling off this week, makes a nice change!

StuntNun · 08/05/2021 09:51

Bestbees the longer you culture yogurt, the lower carb it will be but also it will be more sour. I like sour yogurt so I used to culture mine for 10 hours but my DH prefers the flavour after 8 hours. I've switched to kefir now because yogurt isn't great for my mild diary intolerance. Kefir is much easier to make anyway since it's cultured at room temperature and you don't need to heat the milk first. The only downside is that it takes longer to culture in the winter when it's very cold - I had to have two pots on the go to keep my supplies up! I make my kefir from raw milk that I get delivered in bulk once a month and freeze.

pangolinfan · 08/05/2021 10:39

Morning all, just wanted to thank Angliski for her coriander chutney recipe on the veggie thread. Made in two minutes last night to go with takeaway (lamb and beef kebabs, salad and chermoula cauliflower - yum) so that I wasn't tempted to reach for the carbier mango chutney et al in the fridge. So good I had some more for breakfast, with egg.

Rshard · 08/05/2021 10:39

Blimey nowlook, hope DS is ok.

Very miserable here, but think that’s it’s rainy everywhere pretty much?

Bestbees · 08/05/2021 10:39

Interesting @StuntNun. Left mine from about 5 through to 7 this morning. It's now straining away. Will see how it tastes, I like it fairly sour but creamy too!

Bestbees · 08/05/2021 10:40

I have tried kefir before but aomethibf about it makes me feel a bit sick!

StuntNun · 08/05/2021 11:37

Low carb cake made for DH's birthday. It's so big the lid won't go on the cake box! Shock

FusionChefGeoff · 08/05/2021 11:38

What's the icing @StuntNun?? Did it use ££££ worth of Xylotjrje stuff

StuntNun · 08/05/2021 12:03

@FusionChefGeoff it's chocolate cream cheese frosting and I made double the recipe so it needed a whole pack of erythritol. The keto cake itself isn't particularly sweet so I think it needs the sweetness of the frosting. The proof of the pudding will be in the eating though. Wink

FusionChefGeoff · 08/05/2021 12:09

I saw it in the shop the other day -£10 a bag!!!!

Well if it's nice I will be whipping one up as a treat for me sod the expense because I am just back from breast clinic and all clear Smile. A lymph node and nothing to worry about.

Apart from DH I hadn't told anyone in RL so it feels weird to only have you lovely lot to tell but it's been nice knowing that you knew. If that makes sense.

But emotional now.

Looking forward to a bacon, mushroom and egg SLC roll then zoom and takeaway curry with friends later. Will be going for my now usual tikka feast with saag paneer.

Need to up the water as didn't want to be needing the loo all through the appointments so have lost time to make up.
