Morning all!

here's the spreadsheet . If you haven't already seen it, check out the new info for veg/nuts/fruit that @AthelstaneTheUnready has added to it. Updated (and hopefully now the most accurate) data for all three categories, and all grouped into traffic light categories - green to eat freely (when allowed, in the case of nuts and fruit), amber to be more cautious about and red to avoid as much as possible.

If there's a particular ingredient that isn't on there, just let me know and I'll find the data for that and add it.

And now to week 4

A reminder that this week is also one where you're unlikely to see much loss - and possibly may see a gain. Just remember that THIS IS PERFECTLY NORMAL! Don't panic, but just KOKO and things should get moving again from next week.

Off to catch up with the end of last week's thread now. Hope everyone has an enjoyable bank holiday Monday Flowers

Athelstan, we got my old lady's steroids down her by cutting them in half and squishing them into Dreamies. A friend puts them in a blob of lickelick.

Is your beast too canny for that?

hmm, i considered dreamies - she will make every effort to eat some without chewing - assumed they would shatter if tried - will try

not heard lickelick thank you! will investigate

Morning all

Weigh in day for me and got another 1.8lb off so have crept into 14 stone territory, hurrah! Still got a looong way to go but it's feeling more doable this time. You are all providing a lot of moral support even if you don't realise because I am just lurking so thank you.

I lurked on the ante/post natal threads for my DS for a whole year Blush was weird when I finally braved to post because I 'knew' all these women and they knew nothing about me, but we got over that and now 10+ years later some of them are my very dear friends. Hoping as the threads calm down and it gets a bit less overwhelming I will be able to join in a bit more.

MrsBertBibby · 07/05/2021 08:53

Woah! That's quite a link there!

Lickelix, for Athelcat.

MrsBertBibby · 07/05/2021 08:54

Morning MotherBuckets, good to hear from you! It is hard to keep up, isn't it!

prettybird · 07/05/2021 09:01

Great achievement @MotherBuckets - it's a lovely feeling when you breach thresholds (which is how I see the "stone" markers). Thanks

MotherBuckets · 07/05/2021 09:16

Aww thanks guys.

I have a spreadsheet which i have kept since May 2009 when I first decided to get control of myself. It helped that I was still breastfeeding and couldn't drive so hoicking a lardy baby around and walking to nursery every day really helped. I lost about two stone and felt amazing, managed to keep it off for a few years, up and down half a stone in line with the school holidays. At the end of 2014 I was put on beta blockers to try and cure migraines; they didn't work with the migraines but meant I couldn't get the half stone off each school holiday and just went up and up again.

Every spring I try again and do OK but lose motivation, fall off the wagon etc etc. I deffo drink too much which is a major downfall because as soon as my lips touch the glass of wine I want crisps too. Lockdown has definitely helped in that regard as I have got so bored of just drinking at home with my DH that we've kind of got out of the habit. So trying to stick to only drinking when someone else is there Grin plus I have learned to love olives.

I still have 13lb to lose before I get to the point my spreadsheet starts back in May 2009 Blush but I reckon I might actually do it this time!

BIWI · 07/05/2021 10:13

Great progress @MotherBuckets and hurrah from coming out of the shadows Grin

@Timetobuckup it's not always easy telling people who have invited you for dinner, as it seems like you're trying to dictate what they're cooking! A word of advice - if you do decide to talk to her, be specific about what you aren't eating. I plucked up my courage to tell one of my friends I was low carbing, and they were really happy to accommodate me, no problems. The meal turned out to be a vegetarian curry - with chickpea curry as the main dish, with brown rice Confused - clearly they didn't understand what low carbing was! Naturally I just ate it, but it was lesson learnt. Now, if I tell anyone, I specifically say I'm not eating pasta/rice/potatoes; bread is usually easy to swerve so I tend not to mention that, and I usually also say that I won't be eating pudding (although if cheese is on offer, that's fine).

It's hard - but on the other hand, if you had a particular medical condition - say you were a coeliac - they would have to accommodate you. I think all too often we think about weight loss as something trivial, whereas the very opposite should be true, given how important it is for our overall health to not be overweight.

I agree I would say something in advance. Smile
Back down to 9st 13. Now to just keep going down!

ListenLinda · 07/05/2021 13:28

Hi everyone. Been a bit quiet last few days, this back to the office thing has thrown my out and i’m shattered haha
Currently sat at my desk munching a greek salad and chicken, so staying on plan. Water is getting better too.

Me & DH going out for a meal tonight, it’s a steak house/grill so I think there will most definately be something suitable on the menu!

DH birthday this week and havent bought him anything yet Blush

FusionChefGeoff · 07/05/2021 14:03

I'm so behind!! Made some notes yesterday to reply to people but all massively out of date now gonna do it anyway as they're all things that made me smile

@venusandmars the description of the unfortunate guinea pig gave me a wonderful mental image I am so glad that it survived!

@Makegoodchoices love the ATOBV idea, kids often have "fridge pasta" on the menu plan!!

@nowlook I absolutely LOVE "DH hasn't met a surface he wouldn't like to wipe" I am stealing that phrasing for everything, as often as I can. If only I could steal your DH too as mine is totally fine not knowing their acquaintance at all

@colouringindoors hope everything works out in the end

@AthelstaneTheUnready huge kudos to keep so many big changes going for so long. Hopefully that's the habit formed now so you've done the hard work.

I was a cheese / ham / Mayo snacky twat yesterday for no apparent reason. Not hunger I know that. Oh well.

Also treated myself to clotted cream just had it with rhubarb - bloody lovely!!!

L: prawn Mayo avo salad, rhubarb and cream
D: fish mornay with a cauli topping, FLGV

Happy Friday all!

StuntNun · 07/05/2021 14:28

Yesterday's food:
B: nothing as 16:8
L: burgers with salad and coleslaw, almond cheese muffin, kefir
D: stuffed peppers
No snacks and especially no chocolate!

Today is/will be:
B: nothing as 16:8
L: almond cheese muffin, liver fried in butter, lots of black pepper and chilli sauce
D: salmon fillet with whatever veggies remain in the fridge

I'm a bit worried about tomorrow as it's DH's birthday and we're booked in to shiver outside the pub in the afternoon. Alcohol has a serious negative effect on my eating behaviour but on the other hand there isn't really much in the way of low carb non-alcoholic drink alternatives especially since I generally avoid artificial sweeteners. I'm attempting a low carb cake (which does have sweetener in but it's only one time.) I'm not much of a baker so fingers crossed it will work okay. The recipe is a Keto Death By Chocolate cake with chocolate cream cheese frosting. It may be low carb but it definitely won't be low calorie! Hopefully I'll make it through the weekend without any weight gain.

Finally completed the C25K today! Had a horrible run on Wednesday and only managed 20 minutes, but I did the full 30 minutes today. So my MIM challenge, I guess, is to keep running - I'm pretty sure that my 30 minutes is nowhere near 5K, so I think that's going to be my target - to try and reach 5K within the 30 minutes. I have no desire to run for any longer than that!

Andi2020 · 07/05/2021 16:45

@BIWI well done on completing c25k

Well done to those who have lost weighing today saw a couple up thread.

Enjoy the dinners for the ladies going out still nothing open in ROI open to later in month and June for restaurants

It's my mums anniversary mass later today.
But can only have a mass online

Oneborneverydecade · 07/05/2021 16:58

That's tough @Andi2020 I bet you never thought we'd still be locked down for her mass in 2021

Oneborneverydecade · 07/05/2021 17:03

I ran for 28 mins earlier biwi DH said we did about 3.7km so way off target. The aim is to get to 6k per min. Well done on finishing!

I've just added some melted dark chocolate to whipped cream - I had no idea it would create a delicious chocolate mousse. I should have listened. Same with chicken alfredo, tried that this week - bloody delicious

Oneborneverydecade · 07/05/2021 17:06

@ListenLinda super jealous of your meal tonight

I found some size 10 dresses I last wore about 10 years ago yesterday. They go on but don't do up. I was struggling with motivation for the last 7lb but this might be it. Oh and @prettybird 's getting under 11st Smile

Random789 · 07/05/2021 18:08

I'm having alcohol tonightShock, for the first time in about 6 weeks. I was pretty shocked by the carbs in a bottle of beer. Will monitor the effects carefully -- in terms of whether it produces food cravings today or tomorrow.
I don't intend to be teetotal forever, so I guess I have to explore what works for me. Anyway, it's Friday night and beer is luvvly.Grin

Ditto. In fact, already had some wine. I knew this would happen if I said it out loud. Bloody reverse Tinkerbell.

However. It scratched the itch, and delivered absolutely zero, nada, nothing else. No whoop.

So grateful for: absolutely NO urge for a fag (serious gain there), absolutely no urge to do it again tomorrow (serious gain there), still looking forward to my cozy 20mins with Adriene later on (unheard of!).

I didn't intend to be teetotal forever either, but jeez, if this is all it delivers, I'm starting to wonder what the point is.

Moonswimmer · 07/05/2021 18:24

It’s Friday!

B: bacon and a couple of cherry tomatoes
L: small handful of walnuts (as the breakfast was so generous, and I had a generous dinner lined up)
D: roast turkey with gravy and FLGV. (successfully avoiding the delicious-looking stuffing and roast potatoes which DP was merrily guzzling).

Random789 · 07/05/2021 18:31

That sounds really positive, Athelstane -- dipping your toe in forbidden waters and thinking "Meh." Much better than permanently having it as a never-tested vague promise of euphoria.

I am, to be honest, experiencing a whoop. The taste of the beer is so lovely. I'm trying to savour it mindfully along with my steak, so that it can be a rare and worthy luxury.

FinallyHere · 07/05/2021 19:23

3l water so far today.

Two SLC rolls buttered with bacon, lettuce and four cherry tomatoes.

Evening beef casserole provided by DH

MIM first day I haven't been out for a walk since the clocks changed this year. Am thinking about going out now.

Sunset 20:30, nothing stopping me doing 30mins now. Sigh. What is stopping me?

Random789 · 07/05/2021 20:17

My non-dairy pudding/treat this evening was a stick of celery delicately smeared with almond butter bedded into its curve. It was eck-squizzit and I wanted to have 16 more immediately. But instead I had four sticks of naked celery and a long hot bath. During which I finished reading Klara and the Sun, which was also eck-squizzit.

Rayna37 · 07/05/2021 20:21

Athelstane really wonderful work getting to 40 days on all counts!

Pretty much the same food for two days- Greek salad for lunch including some raw shaved courgette and you were all correct, it is lovely!

Bit of pork belly with my current fave roasted cauli and spring greens with spices and a tahini lemon dressing. Glass of red.

My goal is to run a bit more so my first parkrun back is under 30 minutes. Done some yoga tonight and hoping to do a bike or run or both over the weekend. SH not back until lunch tomorrow though and forecast is very wet!
