Morning all!

here's the spreadsheet . If you haven't already seen it, check out the new info for veg/nuts/fruit that @AthelstaneTheUnready has added to it. Updated (and hopefully now the most accurate) data for all three categories, and all grouped into traffic light categories - green to eat freely (when allowed, in the case of nuts and fruit), amber to be more cautious about and red to avoid as much as possible.

If there's a particular ingredient that isn't on there, just let me know and I'll find the data for that and add it.

And now to week 4

A reminder that this week is also one where you're unlikely to see much loss - and possibly may see a gain. Just remember that THIS IS PERFECTLY NORMAL! Don't panic, but just KOKO and things should get moving again from next week.

Off to catch up with the end of last week's thread now. Hope everyone has an enjoyable bank holiday Monday Flowers

@BestIsWest - what about a macerator loo? That might solve the problem of a soil pipe as it just goes into normal water waste pipes.

BestIsWest · 06/05/2021 21:18

@prettybird That might be the only option. DH has been opposed to it for years but I think he may be wavering.

Andi2020 · 06/05/2021 21:20

@BIWI thanks for info just wanted to give myself some kind off idea of what I was eating
I haven't moved on to any nuts just blueberries and raspberries in greek yogurt and I don't drink so that's not a problem.
I have looked at spreadsheet for fruit and veg that are best bought rhubarb after all the talk about childhood deserts but just couldn't get it right and don't want to add sugar.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 06/05/2021 21:52

Hey do you wanna hear something that's impressive and yet... dreadful...?

Today I have just done 40 days in a row without either drinking or smoking. Something that has not happened since my teens, so about 35 years... Blush Shock Blush (I made 39 days twice in the last few years, but never got past that)

What's more, I have done a yoga practice every one of those 40 days as well. I have NEVER done a physical thing daily like that before.

It really helps me keep on BC, with the circular supportive logic: if I don't eat well, I won't see the full benefits of not drinking; if I don't stay off the booze, I'll carry on smoking; if I carry on smoking, I won't get the full benefits of BC. Etc etc.

Having said that, stressed cat and owner today, so food in fact equalled:

D: buttered leeks and bacon.

But it's low carb!

Thinnerlikeachickendinner · 06/05/2021 21:54

@AthelstaneTheUnready that is truly fantastic, massive congrats. How do you feel?

AthelstaneTheUnready · 06/05/2021 21:54

(she's out from under the bed and forgiven me now. Am currently explaining Hong Kong Phooey to her

" could it be the janitor? Could beeeeeee! ")

cheeseisthebest · 06/05/2021 21:57

That's amazing well done!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 06/05/2021 21:59
@AthelstaneTheUnready that is truly fantastic, massive congrats. How do you feel?
Hard to tell for all the other stuff going on. But mostly definitely calmer than I would otherwise have been. Slimmer, obvs, and don't hack myself to sleep anymore. Lovely thick hair and hard nails, from previous thin and breaking (both). Mental gains from yoga probably more impressive than physical ones, which are themselves pretty fab. And I'm not good - I just bob along in Adriene's wake, collapsing now and again.

But mainly, I feel 'cleaner', physically and mentally. More worthwhile. More self-respect. More present and in control.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 06/05/2021 22:00

oh! oh! here's a physical one - my back is noticeably straighter. I did have quite a lower lumbar curve which is gradually disappearing. Thought i had that for life.

prettybird · 06/05/2021 22:16

That's brilliant @AthelstaneTheUnready SmileStarThanks

Random789 · 06/05/2021 22:19

That's so impressive Athelstane, it really is. And the benefits make it sound so worthwhile.

Oneborneverydecade · 06/05/2021 22:50

Well done @AthelstaneTheUnready changing so many longterm habits at once must be incredibly tricky. You deserve all the respect, self and otherwise

Moonswimmer · 06/05/2021 23:06

B: aubergine stew
L: avocado salad with chorizo and oily dressing
D: avocado salad with sausages
MIM: 45 minute swim, and then later a walk on the beach.

prettybird · 06/05/2021 23:16

My MIM today was Day 2 of the Shred plus a walk to the post box and shops (for pine nuts). I don't count our daily walk to feed the ducks - which today included a slight detour to vote Grin

12,000 steps today

FinallyHere · 07/05/2021 00:30

@colouringindoors {{{hugs}}}

FinallyHere · 07/05/2021 00:34

Congratulations @AthelstaneTheUnready

40 days and counting the benefits.

In good related news, we had belated lunch out with DSS and GF, so today was

B leftover celeriac, chorizo and buttered spinach.

Don thermals and go out to outdoor lunch.

L tapas asparagus, almonds, olives, squid, monkfish. 125ml Prosecco

Cortado coffee twice while they ate puddings

S homemade mushroom soup

2l water. Couldn't quite face more water

FinallyHere · 07/05/2021 00:35

Oh and my now usual walk first thing.

Rshard · 07/05/2021 07:00

Look after yourself colouring Flowers

Very impressive athelstane

Timetobuckup · 07/05/2021 07:14

Morning all, sorry for being so quiet but I am KOKO here.
Will be very pleased to get this week finished at work, it has been very draining.
I am sorry to hear you are having a tough time @colouringindoors, I hope things turn a corner for you Flowers

@AthelstaneTheUnready that is amazing! You must feel so pleased.

We are going to a friends for dinner tonight and I haven't told her about this WOE . I am crossing my fingers that I can navigate it without ruining the weight loss and also not offend her.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 07/05/2021 07:30

thank you all for congrats - but reaaly - represents 35 years NOT having willpower soquite shameful

excuse 1 hand typing - catnnow refusing drugs so am mainly blood and savlon. i won though.

timetobuckup advance warning better than hope!

Bestbees · 07/05/2021 07:30

@colouringindoorsFlowers
@AthelstaneTheUnready Well done!

This is my weigh in and I am up 1.5lb from last week, but I know exactly why. After eating toast and crisps on Monday to sort my hangover I have been snacking this week. Need to focus on that again as I know it has great results.
Plan for today
L green soup and two boiled eggs
D steak, blue cheese, celeriac chips and salad.
MIM either a walk or run depending in tiredness levels.

Timetobuckup · 07/05/2021 07:34

@AthelstaneTheUnready Indeed you are of course correct and I do feel a bit of a dick to not tell her, she is lovely and I am sure would have worked around it. I think I need to have a chat with myself about why I didn't do that.

Random789 · 07/05/2021 07:43

All those little calpol-measuring cups I dumped in the cupboards years ago are coming into their own now for measuring the cream in my coffee. I know we aren't supposed to count anything, but cream in coffee is such a potentially enormous calorie trap I have made an exeption for it. I'm allowing myself max 2 coffees daily, each with 15 ml cream.
Does that sound ok?
I'm mindful of Stuntnun's explanation of the possibily greater negative effects of carbs in dairy - for susceptible people. The day that I wobbled most perilously was one where I made a very creamy sauce for my dinner. I found myself standing in front of the fridge afterwards with the kind of nagging roaming hunger that has generally been quiet since bootcamp.
I'm going to keep a sharp eye now on the effects dairy has on my appetite. But {wails} without dairy how can I have treats [stamps feet]? I have nut butter, which I've stayed away from for a few weeks because I'm frightened of its allures. Could that be a source of non-catastophic treats?

Pleaseandthankyou · 07/05/2021 07:43

@AthelstaneTheUnready that is some achievement. I have definitely cut back but I if I had to choose a glass of wine or a dessert or bar of chocolate I would choose the wine. I enjoy the taste and probably the feeling of relaxation.
@nowlook I have been in similar situations to yours and it annoys me every time. It also annoys me when people book more than one restaurant to see how they feel on the night.
Managed to stay the same this week despite the bank holiday. I thought I would find it harder to stay on track when hospitality opened but it’s too cold. On Saturday night I was physically shivering - teeth chattering while catching up with old friends. I felt like a 7 year old who had just come out of the sea.

Random789 · 07/05/2021 07:47

Oh Athelstane sorry to hear about your cat (but lol at 'mainly blood and savlon'). I dreamed about my old dog last night, and the night before.
