Morning all!

here's the spreadsheet . If you haven't already seen it, check out the new info for veg/nuts/fruit that @AthelstaneTheUnready has added to it. Updated (and hopefully now the most accurate) data for all three categories, and all grouped into traffic light categories - green to eat freely (when allowed, in the case of nuts and fruit), amber to be more cautious about and red to avoid as much as possible.

If there's a particular ingredient that isn't on there, just let me know and I'll find the data for that and add it.

And now to week 4

A reminder that this week is also one where you're unlikely to see much loss - and possibly may see a gain. Just remember that THIS IS PERFECTLY NORMAL! Don't panic, but just KOKO and things should get moving again from next week.

Off to catch up with the end of last week's thread now. Hope everyone has an enjoyable bank holiday Monday Flowers

My RENPHO scales arrived yesterday and the data is interesting! I really can't comprehend how it KNOWS the things it seems to read just by standing on it for a few seconds! It came up one lb lower than my others so I'll use those for my BC weights and keep tracking to see how consistent the gap is.

All the numbers were in green except for subcutaneous fat (the wobbly bits under the skin) which makes sense. I was pleased my visceral fat was fine as this had been my concern. Body fat is close to being too high though overall despite being pretty much in the middle of the healthy BMI range. Watching the trends will be interesting.

Tickledtrout · 06/05/2021 12:20

@Rayna37 I don't think those non-weight readings are ever especially accurate tbh. It's useful to watch the trend though on the same set of scales

Thinnerlikeachickendinner · 06/05/2021 12:21

My scales have whooshed upwards! 4lbs overnight!

Think it was prob the Wine that was drunk as we have sold our house in the midst of the longest drawn out property saga ever (new house is very complex purchase). So I forgive myself.

Roasted two chickens last night and shredded them and had some then, some tonight with salad (burritos for rest of fam with same chicken), then white chicken chili tomorrow.

Was about to have some salmon and cream cheese when ive just realised I’ve EATEN ALL THE CELERY. Going to have reheated roast radishes, swede and celeriac with butter and cheese instead.

BSky · 06/05/2021 13:02

@BIWI and @BestIsWest - my OH is like that. ‘Tidies’ but no strategy so can’t find anything!

Loving the bathroom pics/inspiration.

@Thinnerlikeachickendinner - white chicken chilli. Intrigued. Can you share recipe?

prettybird · 06/05/2021 13:03

My bathroom is 3.56m long (although with a boxed in diagonal bit in the corner for some pipes that is c26cm deep) and 1.65m wide. The current bath is marginally over 70cm wide so that's the widest walk in shower that we can get, so I'll make it as "long" as possible.

MrsKoala - that's exactly the sort of basin that I am we are thinking of dh hasn't been giving it much thought at all Wink - wall hung to increase sense of space. Thinking the same for the loo. I like the colour of the wood effect too.

Another question for y'all: if I have the shower on the right as you go in, would it be better to have the loo next and then the sink or the other way round?

Bestbees · 06/05/2021 13:04

@MrsKoala interesting. In our smaller Victorian terrace we also had a big bathroom. We are now in an end terrace with side and rear extension. I guess it is to do with which rooms got converted and if they split bedrooms to put in a bathroom. To be fair when I look at my pics it looks bigger than they feel!

We had our bathroom done last year. As a poster upthread also mentioned, it was quite frustrating: I thought we had a blank canvas but most of my plans had to be tweaked in response to the spaghetti bowl of old piping under the floor and behind false walls.

The pics show it before painting. I love the fresh plaster colour but went with white as the room was quite dark. Wish I hadn't now.

prettybird if your bathroom is 165cm wide I’d put the bath widthways under the window. You can get 165cm long / 800 wide. Then I’d put a shower over it on the right side and frosted glass in the window. Clear glass ‘curtain’ and then the loo and the sink along the wall to the right where your bath is now. I’d also get rid of the panelling on the left - it draws the eye inwards especially with the horizontal line halfway up. If you put rectangular shaped tiled upwards along the walls it draws the eye up and feels more spacious. You can get away with different textures as long as they are the same colour. Pale, soft and reflective surfaces work well. It will square off the shape and feel more roomy. Our sink and loo came from a make called Laufen if you like that style.

Nateismine · 06/05/2021 13:32

Can I ask a question about puddings/treats?
On this WOE I am genuinely never hungry BUT I still want some treats. My treat of choice is 8 raspberries, 60ml cream and a grating on 90% Lindt. So fairly low carb- how often can I have this and still lose wt? Should I have it instead of a meal?

Or should treats be very occasional even if they are low carb?

MrsKoala · 06/05/2021 13:33

Random the colour on our ceiling is called fresh plaster by Craig and Rose. We were going to have white but I hated it, it really made the ceiling come down and looked so harsh against the softness of all the other colours and textures. So we painted over it. But I still think it’s too pinky so May paint over it with the farrow and ball fresh plaster colour to see if I prefer that. Also I’m changing the lights to chrome rather than white (which I chose when the ceiling was going to be white).

prettybird · 06/05/2021 13:38

All the panelling is coming out Grin

I'm planning on squeezing in the largest bath I can across the end of the room - so your suggestions are pretty much the lines along which I'm thinking @MrsKoala Smile We don't need the window to be frosted as we're on the first floor and the house next door has no windows on that side. Although dh would still like a blind put up for in winter so you don't have the black hole of the window above the bath (I'm not bothered as we almost never pull the current blind down - although to be fair it's a hassle winding its string around the shelf).

@BIWI - a friend along the road in a similar conversion has a corner bath and I don't like the way the bathroom feels so if we can fit a bath across the width, I'd prefer that.

MrsKoala · 06/05/2021 13:40

Yes, our first little house had a downstairs bathroom which had been moved upstairs to the smallest bedroom, but would still have been a good size double, so we had a free standing claw foot bath for 2 (had to have the floor reinforced! When I was pregnant we used to sit in it together and our combined weight was 30st and then the cast iron bath and about a thimble of water 😂) and a double walk in shower. We painted it midnight blue and it was huge and luxurious. It sold the house. Everyone loved it.

prettybird · 06/05/2021 13:44

@Nateismine - how often you can have it and still lose weight really is individual Confused.

I tend to try to keep treats like that to 2 or 3 days a week - although I do have a square or two of 85% (Lidl) or 90% Lindt (when I have it in the house) most days after the 1st 2 weeks Blush

I warned myself off "needing" raspberries or other berries most days: if I'm needing a treat, I'll have 10% fat Greek yoghurt with cinnamon Smile. Which reminds me, I haven't had lunch yet Wink

prettybird · 06/05/2021 13:47

@MrsKoala We painted it midnight blue

I have a hankering to make the end wall and possibly the left hand wall navy blue, to contrast with the white window and white end bath. Saw it on one of the home styling type shows and loved the effect.

Only you will know how often you can have that and still lose!

That said, please remember that Bootcamp is not just about weight loss - it's also about breaking the hold that sweet things have over us.

Why do you need a treat do you think?

OP posts:
BIWI · 06/05/2021 14:13

... and perhaps more pertinently, why do you view sweet things as a treat?

I zazzed up the annexe bathroom recently (didn’t have the time or money for a full refurb) and painted a wall blue. It’s an awkward L shape small room with a corner/quadrant shower. The previous people had a strange sort of potato colour massive pedestal sink, which we replaced with a less protruding but wider vanity unit with good storage. The tiles are not my taste, but I’m going to live with them for a few more years. The bathroom was originally painted a kind of pale mustard. So I went for simple white, with accents of dark blue and pops of bright tropical colours. Again still haven’t got a mirror. I also changed the old rad to a good towel heater and replaced the drafty old wooden window

@prettybird he doesn’t tend to have nosebleeds so this caught us off guard - he did say I was very good at cleaning up blood as I scrubbed his mattress and no I too didn’t share where I’d learned that trick.

I’m having definite bathroom envy, our en suite is about 20 years old and dated looking but the garden and kitchen are further up the “needs doing” list. It’s functional and is a decent size but the tiles could do with a change.

venusandmars · 06/05/2021 14:55

@Random789 when we redid our kitchen we went ages without proper flooring or decoration. When we eventually chose we opted for flooring that was the same colour as the plywood, and paint that was the same colour as plaster!

Rayna37 · 06/05/2021 15:04

Athelstane I've just noticed in my boss' calendar he's meeting someone called Athelstane actually IRL today.

We've been in the house 22 years and the bathroom was already really tired when we moved in Shock The loo has the ballcock tied up so that it can only trickle fill (takes about 20 minutes Shock) as it can't cope with the mains pressure water that now supplies it (since we put in the new central heating system in October - have I mentioned recently that we now have a nice warm house? Wink) and the shower has an old style washer that is disintegrating so now has duct tape round it to divert the escaping water and stop it spraying over the floor, the door and the bath robes hanging on the door Shock

The bathroom upstairs (beside ds' room) is even worse which is why ds never uses it when he's home and the loo currently has a tap on the side that you open to refill it after flushing. Shock

To be fair, that's the other reason why the plumber/central heating/bathroom installation guy is coming round: to fix both loos (he put the tap on the upstairs loo on as a temporary fix).

At least we have a 2nd, albeit grotty, bathroom available to us while we get our main bathroom replaced Smile

TheHoover · 06/05/2021 15:41

Lovely bathrooms everyone.
A word of warning about cramming a small bath in a tight space: our bathroom designer fitted (moisture resistant) plasterboard over the entire bathroom which meant we had to have a smaller than standard sized bath (he actually didn’t factor in the loss of width and we had a 3 day delay whilst he sourced the right sized bath which we didn’t/don’t really like but went with to avoid further delay). I have no idea whether / when plasterboard is needed but it’s worth taking into consideration.

NSV today: I am wearing size 12 jeans. I am delighted mostly because I actually now have a second pair of jeans that I fit*into. I fecking HATE the other pair - stretched, faded, worn-thin at the knee black ‘skinnies’. I will be ritually burning those once I can get into a couple more pairs.

*barely wearing
**don’t really fit

Oneborneverydecade · 06/05/2021 15:50

Our house is only a couple of years old and the bathrooms all have the same colour half tiled walls. Very boring. I'd like to do something to make them more inviting but for now they'll do.

I've been to another NT place today. This time near Midhurst. We were their first visitors for 19 months! The gardens were beautiful. I photographed the asparagus out of love for BC

L: chicken alioli salad. Square dark chocolate which actually melted in the sun
D: chicken alfredo - woo hoo

It was a bit like that for me, venus: the first lockdown meant it was months and months before we could get the bathroom painted, and I grew really fond of the warm and spicy plasterpink.Sad

It was only by the skin of our teeth that we avoided having a lockdown with non-functioning bathroom, which would have been glum.
