Morning all!

here's the spreadsheet . If you haven't already seen it, check out the new info for veg/nuts/fruit that @AthelstaneTheUnready has added to it. Updated (and hopefully now the most accurate) data for all three categories, and all grouped into traffic light categories - green to eat freely (when allowed, in the case of nuts and fruit), amber to be more cautious about and red to avoid as much as possible.

If there's a particular ingredient that isn't on there, just let me know and I'll find the data for that and add it.

And now to week 4

A reminder that this week is also one where you're unlikely to see much loss - and possibly may see a gain. Just remember that THIS IS PERFECTLY NORMAL! Don't panic, but just KOKO and things should get moving again from next week.

Off to catch up with the end of last week's thread now. Hope everyone has an enjoyable bank holiday Monday Flowers

The combination of a Guinea pig who wanted to run away and a lead tied with a slip knot... think gp with a red face and bulgeing eyes shock Fortunately gp was released before any harm was done.

Ah, but we all have scars you can't see @venusandmars Sad Grin

nowlook · 06/05/2021 08:44

And now I feel sorry for DH and his inadvertent contribution @prettybird. Is he a general tidy-upper? Mine is. I'd happily live in squalor, but he's never met a surface he wouldn't like to wipe.

Very envious of your potential separate bath and shower. I found the whole process quite frustrating. Sorry, can't move the loo because of waste pipe. Sorry, can't move the shower because of electrics. In truth, we just ended up with an updated version of what was already there Grin

prettybird · 06/05/2021 08:53

And to make it relevant to Boot Camp, I've included in my list of things to consider a consistent specific space for my scales Grin At the moment, because of the exposed and irregular floorboards (tiling leftest when our heating was done), I have to carry my scales through to the kitchen Hmm

MrsBertBibby · 06/05/2021 09:07

Liking the buggy bath, might work for our bathroom update, whenever that happens.

Another bounce down this morning, getting reliably into the 13 stones now Smile

prettybird · 06/05/2021 09:10

"Before" picture of bathroom. Temporary cheap radiator put in when central heating and boiler was replaced in October and runner was re-purposed to protect feet from the exposed floorboards.

By my calculations there is just enough space for a double ended bath across the end of the room. It's 170cm wide if you include the space taken up by the wood panelling.

Very high ceiling (Victorian house Wink) which is currently lowered so heaven knows what is above it with a fluorescent strip light.

We're on the first floor with a large space between the joists/floor boards, so the loo can probably be moved a small amount and the waste pipe adjusted.

Looking forward to not having to through to the kitchen naked to weigh myself Grin

If you can, can you make room for a separate shower rather than a shower over the bath? And if so, make it as big as you can, not just the standard 900mx900m cubicle - something like this

Also a ladder-type radiator, so you can have lovely warm towels

@Makegoodchoices

I don’t care enough about food and I have to cook for the carby twats that I live with as well. Ive been doing them a jacket potato and then running out of steam and just having an egg as I had to talk myself down from cereal

Why are you cooking separate meals? What's wrong with them eating whatever you're eating?!

This:

So tonight it’s prawn paella with cauli rice and other veg, as there was a chorizo looking at me too

... sounds lovely - why on earth wouldn't you feed that to everyone?! Honestly, no-one will die from lack of a jacket potato Grin

Sounds like the scales are definitely your friend @ListenLinda and @MrsBertBibby!

@nowlook - dh thinks he is the tidy/de-cluttering one but he's not as much as he thinks he is. He uses the clutter as an excuse on occasion for any reason why he is unsettled Hmm. so I have to humour him Wink Whenever I'm trying to throw things out, he's the one to say to keep it "because we/I might use it some time"Confused

I'm also not as messy and untidy as he makes out. Often the biggest pile of "not put away clothes" in the bedroom is his Hmm

To be fair through, we've been in the house for 22 hours and there is a lot of junk stuff we need to sort out Grin

Jellycatspyjamas · 06/05/2021 09:29

I’d echo getting as big a shower cubicle as possible. We have a double wide one which is fabulous - standard 90x90 just feel cramped.

I was woken at 5.30 this morning by DS telling me had a nose bleed, his bed was like a massacre scene. Pillow, duvet, bedding and mattress all need cleaned. And both kids are home because their school is being used as a polling station.

Food today will be on plan

B. Greek yoghurt
L. Chicken and mushroom omelette with whatever salad is kicking about the fridge.
D. Sausages and celeriac mash with something green, broccoli or green beans.

prettybird · 06/05/2021 09:34

I'm hoping to fit a 140 x70 shower cubicle in (120 might do). 70 is as wide as we can put in because of the door - and even that is into the door frame, was the current bath is) Smile

I've still to convince dh about the expense of the backlit, touch sensor, de-misting mirror Wink. Needs to be touch sensor as there is only room for a pull cord for the "main" lights Shock

prettybird · 06/05/2021 09:37

@Jellycatspyjamas - does your son have a propensity for nose bleeds? Ds has started having them and I've been having to instruct from a distance (as he's studying up in Aberdeen) how to treat mattress blood stains without telling him why I know so much about it Wink

BIWI · 06/05/2021 09:38

How about a corner bath, on the left-hand side? Then that will free up space for a nice, long shower enclosure on the right-hand side, behind the door, with decent space on the wall for the sink/loo and a vanity unit/some drawers

Makegoodchoices · 06/05/2021 09:39

@BIWI It’s a perennial problem of me liking really spicy food and my son refusing even a hint of pepper. I like curries and chilli and schwarma. He likes beige food. If I cook the beige food he eats loads of veg with it. But present him with a curry and he scrapes the sauce off the meat and leaves everything else. It’s the mum guilt of wanting him to eat properly. He absolutely loved the chicken Alfredo - but I wasn’t that keen on it at all!

MrsKoala · 06/05/2021 09:40

Morning all. Sorry I’ve been absent.

@nowlook I am indignant on your behalf. How rude.

Thanks for the piriton tip, I had no reaction thankfully. I think it was @prettybird Also I’ve recently had our small family bathroom done I’ll see if I can dig out any before pics.

@Andi2020 College find made me lol. I don’t even have a bloody pension let alone a college fund! Grin

If anyone is interested in eyebrow henna (I know it was a few threads ago) here are my before and after. Both sans makeup. I’ve had eyebrow henna and lvl tinted lashes. While I like the eyebrows it’s no real difference from tinting. They dyed the skin underneath but it washed off the very first time I washed my face 48hrs later and just left me with dyed eyebrows.

@Makegoodchoices - dh gets the same food as me, but with added chips, buttered pasta or rice.

Only time I have to do something sort of separate is when I make lasagne, so 2/3 of it has pasta sheets and 1/3 of it uses sliced courgettes Smile

He's also learnt to really enjoy things like celeriac dauphinoise and celeriac chips and my low carb topping for shepherds pie, so often he eats exactly the same as me.

BestIsWest · 06/05/2021 09:52

@prettybird I think we must share a DH. Mine thinks he is the tidy one because everything has a place. Trouble is that place is on top of something else. The top of every cupboard, bookcase, table etc is full of his stuff. Whereas my stuff (mostly books) is in its correct place on the bookshelves but he deems it to be clutter. And don’t get me started on the bits of wood he’s saving.

I’m following the bathroom talk with interest. I long for a walk in shower but whether we can squeeze one in as well as a bath has been a topic for discussion for years now. I'm the only one who uses the bath and then only once a fortnight but don’t want to get rid of it.

BIWI · 06/05/2021 09:55

@BestIsWest no, I think you'll find that's my DH you're complaining about describing!

He hates clutter - but has no real concept of how to put things away. Consequently stuff just gets shoved in cupboards or on top of things. We have a small boxroom-type bedroom which is now a dumping ground because of this. A loft-type bed, which is now the storage place for two sets of golf clubs, the cat baskets and an assortment of old duvets and boxes of stuff.

Perhaps I should make that my MUM challenge, actually ...

Makegoodchoices · 06/05/2021 09:55

@prettybird Yeah, the husband is no problem, he eats what he’s given! Although he mostly eats it cold at the moment as he’s out doing sport all the time. Then he has cereal, chocolate, wine and toast as well because he’s the hungriest person in the world and has burned a million calories. (He’s not on a diet but has lost more than me in the same timeframe, he very politely doesn’t mention it)

MrsKoala · 06/05/2021 10:01

@prettybird I can’t find any before pics but our small family bathroom was longish and narrow so the previous people had a bath along one side under the window and the loo at the end squashed next to the bath and the sink on the same wall as the bath. It is a small room anyway but was so awkward. It had no storage and a pedestal sink which is a waste of space and a bit dated IMO.

We had a short but wide bath put in which meant showering for us wider folk was actually enjoyable and the baths are still fine, nice and deep - again good if you are wider or bathing 3 kids at the same time. Went for wall hanging a sink with drawers under but off the ground to give the illusion of floor space. Chose a pale neutral tone throughout (but not sterile cold white - I wanted a relaxing spa feel) matching floor and wall tiles, tiled the whole room and painted the ceiling the same colour so your eye flows round rather than having a stark contrast. Also (and this is my favourite touch of luxury which actually wasn’t that expensive) instead of a traditional bath panel I had a bronze mirror cut to fit the side of the bath. It makes the room seem so much bigger and looks luxurious and spa type stylish I think. Everyone comments. I’ll post some pics.

Lots of your bathrooms look decent sized to me! I have a tiny family bathroom with over bath shower. We also have a down stairs shower we put in just recently. This was difficult as it also has a boiler in so we needed up with a corner loo. I had never seen one before but it works well. I will post pics this evening.

Bored and hungry so looking forward to my lunch!

Moonswimmer · 06/05/2021 11:44

I also have massive bathroom envy. My house is tiny, and the bathroom is correspondingly minuscule - not even room for a proper bath! The bathroom pages in home deco magazines are my favourite...

MrsKoala · 06/05/2021 11:48

Ours is 150cm / 250cm. It’s small if you think it’s the family bathroom for a big 5 bed Victorian house. We have 2 much smaller en-suite but no downstairs loo. Which means people either have to go through a bedroom on the 1st floor or walk 4 flights of stairs to the family bathroom. We’ve applied for a side extension so we can put a downstairs loo and a first floor large family bathroom. We had a bigger bathroom in our first 2 bed terrace! Confused
