This Bootcamp has gone crazy! I'm very hopeful that means that the results on the scales/with the tape measure etc will have been positive.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this week. For so many, it's a total vindication as well as complete reassurance that this WOE really works!

I hope, very much, that the scales are kind to you and look forward to hearing everyone's progress.

I've stepped on the scales this morning and I'm up 3lbs from yesterday. Gutted and I don't understand why. Food was spot on yesterday---I had Greek yoghurt with cream, tuna Maya salad, chicken tikka kebabs with salad and garlic Mayo. All full fat and salads dressed in oil.

I'm having coffee with cream--could I be having too much of this? It seems like such a big jump in one day I'm wondering what is going on? I lost 5 lbs last week and seemed to have out over half on over night?

Any advice?

wanderlove · 29/01/2021 07:35

Sorry don't know why it strikes out?

ouchmyfeet · 29/01/2021 07:41

Is your period due @wanderlove? I can easily put on 4-5lbs overnight in the couple of days before mine

Bestbees · 29/01/2021 07:42

@wanderlove it might just be a fluke. Weigh tomorrow and see what happens. Flucation is totally normal.

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal I put a pinch in mine, maybe only 'works' for some people, or try more?

I am waking up sort of empty but not hungry and find a salt&lemon water really perks me up.

Those who eat tinned fish in oil do you drain it? Or eat all the oil? Seems a lot but I know fat is good. I guess I could drain it into a jar, add vinager and seasoning and the use that to dress the salad?

Food today:
L salad with something... Probably tinned mackerel, mayo. Might make some slaw as have a sad cabbage hanging around.
D melanzane parmagiana and roasted kale

Water, water, water

Dailyhandtowelwash · 29/01/2021 07:58

STS. Argh. The scales are just not moving. My period is due but it’s been haywire so I could be like this for weeks.

StuntNun · 29/01/2021 08:04

Greebo I tried salt in black coffee as well and couldn't taste the difference. I'll try again this morning.

Wanderlove it's quite possible to fluctuate two or more pounds overnight. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water and give it time. Exercise and TOTM are also common causes of overnight apparent weight gain.

Bestbees I eat a lot of tinned sardines in olive oil but I drain the oil off. I wonder if it might be too strongly flavoured for salad dressing.

MrsMcBoatface · 29/01/2021 08:04

Morning all, loving this chat and all the great ideas! I've woken up full of energy.. as I've nowhere to go I had to convince myself to come back to be with a coffee.

Bestbees, I don't drain tuna, but I buy the fancy type in olive oil, it is a real treat on a green salad.

Lyrata · 29/01/2021 08:07

I also tried the salty coffee and couldn’t taste a change! It was already a flavoured coffee from Nespresso so perhaps that’s why.

MaudesMum · 29/01/2021 08:19

Scales seem to be moving in the right direction, and the fresh jeans I put on this morning seemed to be slightly less tight. This will spur me on over the weekend, which is set to include a zoom call with cocktails. Luckily I don't have any cocktail ingredients (except for gin) and I now have absolutely no motivation to go out and buy any. Booze is definitely a problem with me for this and any diet, and is part of the reason why I've put weight back on after my last v. successful low-carb diet (lost about 3 stone 3 years ago). Like others, I'm not great at stopping once I've started! What I'm thinking is that I need to use this bootcamp to re-train myself out of that. I managed to stop drinking on a daily basis a few years ago, so I know it is possible to change habits!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 29/01/2021 08:21

Not just me then! Maybe I'm so used to salty flavours now it passes me by?

This is normal. Please try not to freak out over it. As pp said, if you’re in the week approaching your period that is likely the reason. Think of it like this: you’ve definitely not gained 3lb of fat in a day as that is impossible. It will be water weight which will go again. Drink all the water today and make sure to eat plenty of fat.

If weighing daily upsets you when you see a gain, maybe skip it for a while and just weigh weekly?

Ninkanink · 29/01/2021 08:31

@Bestbees as pp said, I expect the oil might be too strong to make a nice dressing.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 29/01/2021 08:38

@MrsOmelette

NSV - just realised I have to tighten my bra big style, think I’ve lost all the weight from my chest. Definitely not complaining 😆.
Great to get such a noticeable NSV!. I can feel I've lost the padding from around my ribs as well, even though I don't think I've lost much as measured in lbs.
AthelstaneTheUnready · 29/01/2021 08:41

@wanderlove, as PPs said, it just is not physically possible to put on 3lbs of fat overnight. It will be water retention - did you drink enough yesterday?

prettybird · 29/01/2021 08:42

I lose the padding around my ribs but not my actual boobs, so my band size goes down but my cup size goes up Confused

AthelstaneTheUnready · 29/01/2021 08:44

On the salt/coffee thing - I've just tried it in my fancy cafetiere coffee, and agree, not a noticeable difference.

But in the terrible cheap instant I use in a rush, it transforms it into something much more drinkable. I use one twist/grind of the salt grinder.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 29/01/2021 08:47

@prettybird

Yup. Hence my horror bafflement at going overnight from a 34B, to (measuring correctly) a 28FF. And now I've lost another inch from under the boobs, I'm probably in Jessica Rabbit territory as far as numbers go, whilst still actually being a fairly boring woman shape.
Justcallmecaptainobvious · 29/01/2021 09:15

As we’re talking boobs, can I briefly browbeat everyone in to buying well fitting bras! Go to bravissimo, an independent bra shop, use the calculators from Boob or Bust, or A Bra That Fits. If you go for one of the latter two, have a read of their information on how bras are meant to fit in order to give the best shape and support. Whatever you do, do not just walk in to M&S and buy what they tell you! It’s so easy just to buy one a size smaller as you lose weight, but a well fitting bra will really change your appearance.

(I say this as someone who has barely worn a proper bra for almost a year... but there will again be a time when we want our boobs to look great!)

Lyrata · 29/01/2021 09:20

I know! I bought a whole load of sexy but wireless bras last year under the delusional misconception that I would wear them on a day-to-day basis “for myself.”

It turns out that I am actually only interested in wearing sports bras for myself, and only then while exercising. Everything else is exclusively for men.

BIWI · 29/01/2021 09:23

@Ninkanink

Oops I just realised I used sesame seeds without thinking!

It was a very tiny amount tbf, probably about 1/2 a tsp.

I doubt that we really need The Big Stick for that! Grin

Thanks for all your feedback. Period not due or anything and im going to drink tons of water today. Can you have too much cream in coffees etc? Does it have carbs in?

Motivateinmotion · 29/01/2021 09:25

Checking in. Have gained this morning and know I need to cut out the cream. Moderation has always been an issue hence in this mess.

Can anyone recommend a vanilla to add to greek yoghurt instead of the cream? I have Aldi vanilla extract but ingredients start with sugars and end 10% vanilla so thinking not so good to use?

I was used to intermittent fasting before but finding it harder to do now so am having breakfast and finding yoghurt is the quickest/easiest with work.

Plan for today:
B- yoghurt and cream
L- chicken thighs, cabbage and broccoli with butter and chicken fat gravy
D: chicken, pepper lettuce wrap with homemade guacamole and sour cream

prettybird · 29/01/2021 09:25

@Justcallmecaptainobvious - I do do that (including the whole measuring my over-bust measurement while bending at the waist, plus the scooping from under the armpits when trying on a bra) which is why I know that my over-bust measurement is staying stubbornly the same, hence me progressively going up cup sizes as I lose weight Confused

Unless/until my boobs decide to deflate even just a little , my choice of pretty bras reduces as I lose weight Sad

BIWI · 29/01/2021 09:32

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal quite a lot of things, beyond veg, seem to be low in stock. I'm often being told when I'm doing my Sainsbury's order that stocks are low - but really odd things, like washing up sponges!

Whiskas catfood (pouches) is also in short supply - you can't buy any at the moment from Sainsbury's and Asda only have one variety. I thought their petfood was made in the UK, so wouldn't be affected by Brexit chaos, but it's possible it's manufactured elsewhere, or with ingredients that are imported. In my last shop, they sent me a box of 40 Felix pouches as a substitution (but I didn't notice until the driver had left!), and typically the cats have decided they don't like that variety.

I'm quite settled into the routine of online shopping/home delivery, although I do miss not being able to browse around the shop. And I certainly miss not being able to choose my own veg - this week we had the smallest cauliflower I've ever seen - not much bigger than a tennis ball!

@ShagMeRiggins

Ps to prettybird and the Nicole Fahri dress; yeah, I’d do you.

Apologies. That was crass and I realise it might offend some, which is never my accidental goal.

Meanwhile, sausage burgers, fries, and peas for dinner tonight. For the family. Wink

I’m diving into my ready-made batch of pot a feu, so basically a thin stew of shin of beef, swedes, leeks, celery, plus carrots and potatoes that I don’t add to my plate, covered in a beautiful vinaigrette. Lots of salt to add as well. Heaven. One of my favourite French peasant dishes.

Bon appetit! WATER WATER WATER!

No pearl-clutching going on here Grin

And yes, @prettybird, you look fantastic in that dress.
