This Bootcamp has gone crazy! I'm very hopeful that means that the results on the scales/with the tape measure etc will have been positive.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this week. For so many, it's a total vindication as well as complete reassurance that this WOE really works!

I hope, very much, that the scales are kind to you and look forward to hearing everyone's progress.

That us interesting about attess, I didnt know that. I'm quite stressed with work at the moment so maybe need to look at some relaxation techniques. Not just for weight loss but obviously a good idea anyway!
My weight loss has plateaued but my belly has deflated considerably.
Thank you for the exercise advice earlier in the month. DH has turned our conservatory into a mini gym with rowing machine, bike, weights etc. Plus we've been for walks. Apparently rowing machine is one of the best all over exercises for your body. So I'm going to do that regularly. Quite nice with music or audio book.

cheeseisthebest · 28/01/2021 08:58

Stress! Sorry should have proof read!

Frty · 28/01/2021 09:01

Don't know if it was a typo or a happy creation but I'm totally going to adopt Bestbees relentless Ness of lockdown. I'm going to take Ness out for a mini walk lateron (ankle still sore) and clear the air!

Foodwise all fine. Alcohol-wise, still not a problem but I'm with the no-moderation brigade so find it easier to just leave it.

DH wants to try his hand at a steak and kidney pie lateron, without the pie element, naturally. I'm not sure I'm looking forward to it, I imagine a very intense stew with green veg on the side. However, if it keeps him happy...

Rshard · 28/01/2021 09:02

Your meattza looks delicious midlifemission, had a look at the nigella recipe and it says to serve 4-6. Only I would eat it, so I wondered how many you thought it might feed?

Dailyhandtowelwash · 28/01/2021 09:05

Stress is awful for weight, and insulin resistance.

I am a pound up today. I need to tell myself it’s because I’m about to come on, as otherwise four days of following the rules to the letter has produced just this small gain and I might cry. Grin

Ninkanink · 28/01/2021 09:21

@Dailyhandtowelwash it absolutely is your period. It’s quite normal for the body to hold on to some water weight in the run-up.

nowlook · 28/01/2021 09:30

@BrassicaBabe This is the article I mentioned before. It makes for interesting if depressing reading. I reckon Stunt will have something more on point, but this is where I first read about the link.

nowlook · 28/01/2021 09:38

...and you'll see that the article has links /references to this kind of thing (which is in plainer English for all us non-scientists!)

MrsOmelette · 28/01/2021 10:16

@nowlook that’s an interesting Lancet article, thank you. I’m constantly worried about my eldest daughter’s considerable work stresses.
Today I’m having: B low carb pancake with vanilla and lemon juice, L - sardines & pan fried garlic courgettes, D - shakshoukah. (I’ve been doing this since 1st.)

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 28/01/2021 10:17

Morning!

@AthelstaneTheUnready I, too, am an immoderate drinker. I now buy miniature bottles of red wine/ Prosecco. Sorts me out. Lost count of how many of us there are now, but I feel sorry for our mother.

Still sticking to the rules here. Suffering a little from reflux: I wonder if it's the cream?

I do trust you though, BIWI, so will KOKO. You should have a tenth anniversary boot camp party next year! You could have a glittery sceptre instead of a big stick.

Tortilla tonight, which I'm looking forward to. Smile

Midlifemission · 28/01/2021 10:30

@Rshard

Glad you liked the look of the Meatzza - I have told DH he needs to keep up the good work !

@Rshard I can't see it feeding six to be honest. We cut it into 8 pieces (400g mince) I had two and DH had three so we have three left to fight over for lunch today.

Lyrata · 28/01/2021 10:38

@MrsOmelette ooh what’s in the LC pancake!?

Food for today:
Breakfast: leftover oxtail stew and creamy coffee
Lunch: scrambled eggs with feta and tomatoes
Dinner: roasted aubergine, courgette, feta, tomato and green pepper

Almahart · 28/01/2021 10:47

Really interesting discussion about stress. The weight is dropping off me at the moment, way faster than on previous boot camps. I am someone who tried to drink their way through previous boot camps and I am here to tell you that knocking booze on the head makes a big difference. I'm sorry I can't remember who it was who mentioned it but I too buy a little bottle occasionally on a Saturday night and amazingly, that is enough.

I am also walking lots and I think that's making a real difference

prettybird · 28/01/2021 10:48

Well, I've taken a picture of me in my Nicole Farhi dress. Interestingly (Hmm) it is my damned boobs that are not deflating this time round Confused. Last time I wore it (about 7 years ago), it was a button on the waist that was still gaping.

I think I should do a Liz Hurley and use big safety pins Grin

I might have been able to cup and scoop enough to be a very buxom wench able to do the buttons at my boobs up but as a said to dh, there are still over 2 months and another c.stone to my target, so why risk over-straining the buttons Wink

2nd week of Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp! But our third thread!
Ninkanink · 28/01/2021 10:49

@prettybird i think it’s rather fetching like that! 😉😄

prettybird · 28/01/2021 10:51

Dh thought so WinkGrin

Lyrata · 28/01/2021 10:51

You look great @prettybird! On the subject of stress, I have also read that cortisol (the stress hormone) correlates with weight gain or retention around the waist. So maybe you’re less stressed now!

prettybird · 28/01/2021 10:55

Lyrata - no, I think it's just the bloody menopause. It's a malign boob fairy Wink

I'm actually currently still at least half a stone more than I was when I last wore it (I'd need to go back and check).

I've always had a good waist Smile and my boobs were in proportion Hmm

Almahart · 28/01/2021 11:06

Ooh @prettybird you look fab!

Rshard · 28/01/2021 11:44

Thanks midlifemission, I will give it a try this evening.

Definite liz Hurley vibes there prettybird!

Dailyhandtowelwash · 28/01/2021 11:53

You look amazing @prettybird! Many influencers would wear that as is. Wink

I was under enormous stress in the pregnancy I got GD and the specialist later said that they would review their guidance on test results for people under stress as she thought I might have spiked because of that. So it had a profound effect on me.

I do bring bad news which is that cheeseburger pie was not popular in our house. We decided we'd prefer actual cheeseburgers (without the bun in my case). But we gave it a go.

Primitivo · 28/01/2021 11:56

Grrrr, I feel like I'm behaving relatively well:

Following rules
Drinking lots of water
Zero booze
Doing 10,000 steps
Getting lots of sleep

Scales not budging!

The only areas where I could tighten up are, cutting out dairy - still having milk in tea and cream/cheese etc.... but I don't want to!!Sad having tea with milk makes me feel normal and doesn't feel like that bad a thing and other people seem to get away with having a ton of cheese on everything... grrrr!

Can anyone share stories of this one change making all the difference for them? I think I need convincing! Thank you all Thanks

MrsOmelette · 28/01/2021 11:59

@Lyrata
I’ve done a very basic beaten egg/unsweetened soya milk with vanilla and sweetener, then lemon juice on top. I also sometimes do oatbran ones with 1tbsp oat bran to up fibre but only if my carb intake will be low that day. I have to be a bit higher carb than some others as I have gallstone so am generally around 25-45g of carbs daily. I’m buying oat fibre next week which has been mentioned in previous bootcamps. I think I’d eat too many if I used ground almonds lol.

oscarandelliesdad · 28/01/2021 12:00

You look lovely @prettybird.
Thanks, I had a feeling @Ninkanink... Tried Making it myself in the past and it tastes OK but not authentic. I cannot treat it as a condiment. Alas. Too moreish, too yummy. I'll save it for post bootcamp and then go nuts (but without the sticky rice)

MrsOmelette · 28/01/2021 12:03

@Primitivo

Dairy plays a huge part in how much I lose. I did low carb for years and lost plenty of weight but the more dairy I had the slower it was. I now have unsweetened soya milk in my tea, that way I don’t get too grumpy. Every body is different. Also, weight loss isn’t linear - over the whole month tou can lose significantly but have periods within that time when you don’t and it’s easy to become dispirited. Why not give Biwi et al a look at your daily meals?
