This Bootcamp has gone crazy! I'm very hopeful that means that the results on the scales/with the tape measure etc will have been positive.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this week. For so many, it's a total vindication as well as complete reassurance that this WOE really works!

I hope, very much, that the scales are kind to you and look forward to hearing everyone's progress.

Thanks StuntNun that makes me feel a little better about my choice! I really hate artificial sweeteners.

ZiggZagg · 27/01/2021 07:45

Morning campers!

L today will tuna mayo salad with a boiled egg
D will be steak and FLGV roasted in garlic butter

Have a great day y'all Grin

oscarandelliesdad · 27/01/2021 07:48

That is really interesting about the tonics. Have bought a fever tree refreshingly light one before and found it delicious. Although I love a g and t or glass of red, I find that they hate me these days. Insomnia after one, headaches and nausea with any more. Student me would be horrified at 42 year old meGrin
Oka is amazing, dh is a Kiwi and his Rarotongan sister in law always makes a huge batch for family parties. So good.
B - Greek yogurt with cream and cinnamon
L- massive Greek salad, loads of extra virgin olive oil
D- tbc. I think there are some salmon fillets loitering in the freezer.. Have great days everyone.

Ratherchillyinhere · 27/01/2021 07:56

Back on it today with

B - coffee and cream, buttery scrambled eggs and smoked salmon

L - salad with avocado, mackeral and smoked bacon with an olive oil and ACV dressing

D - some sort of meat with veg.

It's TOTM which might account for my crap feelings/eating last week. And I feel like someone has inflated a heavy rubber beach ball in my abdomen at the moment. Horrible.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 27/01/2021 08:04

Sympathies, @Ratherchillyinhere. I’m also premenstrual and feel enormous. My weight is firmly STS.

Ratherchillyinhere · 27/01/2021 08:16

Thanks, Dailyhandtowelwash

I think it must be my age Confused this is the worst one pain and discomfort wise that I've ever had. Paracetamol and ibuprofen weren't touching the pain last night. Found some co-codamol in the cupboard this morning. My back aches badly too. I hurt everywhere Sad

I'm very motivated to eat properly today partly because that will make me feel better and partly because my hope is that low carb will regulate hormones and hopefully have a positive impact on these feelings!

BrassicaBabe · 27/01/2021 08:32

Morning all.

I had cheese on toast yesterday with seriously low carb bread. Fecking amazing!! (Actually I think the bread on its own has a kind of funky taste but the texture is bang on.)

VeryLittleOwl · 27/01/2021 08:35

Morning everyone. It's our Burns Night meal tonight as DH always has a Zoom call with his three brothers on a Wednesday, so they thought they'd all have it together. His oldest brother is usually in great demand for reciting at various dinners around his part of Fife, so he'll be addressing the haggis for us. Thankfully we don't have a piper in the family. No tatties on mine and I don't do whisky sauce either, so other than the carbs in the haggis it shouldn't be too bad. Mashed sprouts, chorizo and cheese for lunch again I think, it was blooming lovely yesterday.

BIWI · 27/01/2021 08:38

@AWryGiraffe

Uh oh. Pizza Express House Salad dressing. I remembered it from my keto days a few years back, it's 3.3G per 100ml. I do also add a dollop of full fat Mayo sometimes too it the salad toppings call for it.

Just be careful here - that's carbs you really should be getting from veg/salad! I'm assuming a splash really is just that - but might be worth measuring it - and also remembering that a home-made dressing is likely to be carb-free, if you make a vinaigrette (i.e. olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper)

@MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously

Checking in with today's food. B 4 rashers streaky bacon, 2 fried tomatoes and 2 sticks celery with boursin. L pork scratchings. D bolognese made with zero carb pasta, 10 cal jelly with 2 tablespoons of Greek yoghurt. I did have a few squares of 85% choc. Gone to bed now so I can keep my head out of the fridge!
Woah woah woah!

Lunch is pork scratchings?! Did you make them yourself? If you didn't, which I'm assuming, have you checked the ingredients? They're very processed.

But on top of that, why just those? Doesn't sound very much - and there's no veg or salad.

When you say zero carb pasta do you mean the Bare Naked noodles/shirataki noodles?

Again, where's the veg? I'll assume that there are some in the Bolognese sauce, but where's the rest?

And what's with the 10cal jelly? That's sweetened with artificial sweeteners, and is a no no in these first two weeks.

As well as the chocolate, you're continuing to indulge your sweet tooth!

Remember, one of the points of this strict fortnight is that we're trying to break the hold that sugar/sweet things have over us. By continuing to eat things like the jelly and chocolate, as well as eating artificial sweeteners, you're not going to succeed here.

@MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously - you've been doing Bootcamp long enough to know that these things are really important.

So do I. On the other hand, the thought of no G&T ... Grin

One drink that is great, and won't use them, is rum and soda. A golden rum, something like Mount Gay Eclipse, with lots of ice, lots of slices of lime, topped up with sparkling water is absolutely lovely. Takes me back to being by the beach/pool in Barbados!

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 27/01/2021 08:56

I'm paying for it today Biwi. Put on a lb since yesterday. There was loads of veg in the Bolognese though and the pasta is the slim stuff from Holland and Barrett, so is the same as the barenaked brand really, just more tagliatelle shaped.
I do need to deal with the sweeteners, though.

ruple · 27/01/2021 08:56

Morning all

Can someone please tell me what FLGV means? Grin

ZiggZagg · 27/01/2021 08:59

ruple Fuck Loads of Green Veg Grin

@BIWI I love being on holiday in Barbados , have been several times and ( to me ) one of the worst things about this awful time we're having with Covid is the thought that maybe we won't be able to go again
Positively planning a trip for DH 60th in 2 years time
( rolls sleeve up for vaccine )

Anyway ...
B will be buttered eggs
L tons of green veg soup ( though DD looked at it last time and told me it looks like snot )
D I'm planning on making cheeseburger pie with turkey thigh mince
Loads of greens on the side and lashings of water

Ratherchillyinhere · 27/01/2021 09:04

Where can I find the cheeseburger pie recipe? I might do that for dinner tonight instead!

Is it somewhere to save me going through the last thread to find it? Thanks

2nd week of Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp! But our third thread!
Lyrata · 27/01/2021 09:14

Perhaps we need a sticky just for the cheeseburger pie... A ‘Best of Bootcamp’ thread where we can host classics like the cheeseburger pie, schoogled sprouts, BIWI’s cheese sauce and a FLGV compilation.

I’m cooking liver for the first time today. I’m thinking of this recipe - when I google for liver recipes it seems to be the highest rated: simply-delicious-food.com/peri-peri-chicken-livers/

I don’t know - it sounds a bit weird! I’m not sure if I should go classic and stick with garlic and cream. I do like peri peri but it sounds a bit strange with liver. I might try and do half and half.

Onelittlepiglet · 27/01/2021 09:15

Morning all

Just checking in.
B - Greek yoghurt and cream (have reduced my portion size as I don’t need much)
L - creamy green veg soup with a sprinkle of cheese plus half an avocado which was left over from yesterday.
D - lamb chops, asparagus, courgette and wilted spinach in loads of butter

I used to live in Barbados! It was mostly lovely but not the same as going on holiday there. The reality of tropical island life is not as amazing as you might think...honest!

Ratherchillyinhere · 27/01/2021 09:21

StuntNun

Ah, you're a star! Thanks.

Hopeislost · 27/01/2021 09:44

@AWryGiraffe The lowest carb salad dressing I've found is Cardini's Caesar dressing (original, not the light one). It's 1.4g carbs per 100ml.

(Hides from the stick)

ShagMeRiggins · 27/01/2021 09:46

Athelstane have a therapeutic cry by watching Steel Magnolias. A weepy with laughs, so not extraordinarily depressing like, say, Sophie’s Choice.

nowlook why would you distrust your supermarket’s fish section? That alarms me! (And I added an exclamation mark so you’d see how genuine my alarm is.)

Really need to focus on the WATER today. I’ve been a bit crap this past week so it’s the primary goal for me.

KOKO y’all!

MaudesMum · 27/01/2021 09:57

Morning! I'm trying to break my peanut butter addiction, as it had become my late night snack, and even though its the type with no added sugar, it's still not great. Having had two evening meals running which have had more fat (as well as FLGV, obviously), I've found it a LOT easier not to move towards the peanut butter jar on my way to bed. Last night's moussaka, on a bed of white cabbage fried with olive oil and butter, was particularly successful. Hopefully, I'll have broken the habit in another couple of days. Also doing better on water. I now fill up a 2-litre jug and put it in the fridge first thing, and am managing to finish it earlier in the afternoon most days.

Frty · 27/01/2021 09:58

Morning All!
So grateful someone explained the FLGV. I'm having that in a soup for lunch and dinner is a burger with the fabled seriously low carb buns. And a salad. That sounds super-indulgent, no?

Like half of the country we panicked yesterday and booked a staycation for August. We normally go abroad to visit family but who knows this year. It's really lifted me (and the kids!) up to have something to look forward to.

Good day to all1

pelosi · 27/01/2021 09:58

Hi, hope everyone's well.

I'm due to give blood next week for the first time (appointment was made months ago). Do you think this is ok? I'm not hungry as I'm eating lots but wondering if the lack of carbs after doing bootcamp for the first time ever will be too much?
