This Bootcamp has gone crazy! I'm very hopeful that means that the results on the scales/with the tape measure etc will have been positive.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this week. For so many, it's a total vindication as well as complete reassurance that this WOE really works!

I hope, very much, that the scales are kind to you and look forward to hearing everyone's progress.

Ha! There's a new British brand too- Gallybird.

ouchmyfeet · 26/01/2021 21:04

No skinny tonic at tesco, I have ordered some slimline Schweppes but intend to try gin with soda first to see if it's an acceptable substitute.

I do have a fridge full of fever tree to get rid of though Confused

I feel I should clarify that I'm only intending to have one occasional G&T at the end of a hard week, not planning to make it a regular event.

Bumbledee · 26/01/2021 21:06

@Oneborneverydecade I completely get the baking. I did the same with my 2 year old. However, now we’re gardening. We do a bit of windowsill gardening and we’re growing pumpkins, lentils and mung beans at the moment. The toddler gets to play with the compost, whenever we plant a few seeds. We’ll do bulbs next.

AWryGiraffe · 26/01/2021 21:19

Tiring day today - didn't have time for breakfast or lunch as took the toddler out this morning and later did 7km of stomping up and down hills trying to get her to nap (didn't work). Dinner was tikka strips, green beans with mozzarella and tenderstem broccoli. So overall not enough fat or veg, or food. I didn't feel hungry until nearish dinner time though. Not great water wise due to aforementioned stomping so trying to catch up a bit now. Hoping the exertion gives me a bit of a metabolism boost at least!

Mmm might add saag paneer to my menu plan for next week!

I've been really enjoying salads for lunch lately too despite the snow. Usually a big plate of raw spinach and cucumber, a splash of low sugar dressing, then lots of feta and fried mushrooms and avocado, sometimes a fried egg. Lots of satisfying crunch.

nowlook · 26/01/2021 21:20

Good luck with the soda @ouchmyfeet! I had a little too much success with vodka, lime and soda Wink

Justcallmecaptainobvious · 26/01/2021 21:24

@Oneborneverydecade could you try cooking with your toddler? We made roast veg soup last week - cutting up all the veg was a nice long toddler activity!

ChristMyArse · 26/01/2021 21:26

Evening all!

Today has been
B Greek yog and cinnamon
Creamy coffee
L Lamb chops with cauliflower and mushrooms
D tuna Mayo with fried cabbage

The big shop is due in the morning, so had to cobble dinner together but it was surprisingly nice.
4ltr water and many wees!!

cheeseisthebest · 26/01/2021 21:35

I've just boredom ate a load of applewood smoked cheddar. I need to stop buying it! Hmm

Bumbledee · 26/01/2021 21:39

@nowlook, I discovered gallybird right before I signed up to Bootcamp. I am waiting for week 4 before I try them out. They even do a non alcoholic gin. They look very impressive on instagram so I hope they don't disappoint.

kilojules · 26/01/2021 21:53

Just catching up. Only able to read a few posts as have to go to bed in a mo.

Overall a good day food wise. Cravings subsiding and managed to do a 4mile run.

Did a first proper fast today and instead of coffee with cream/milk I had ginger and lemongrass tea. No sweetner (gasp) and didint die Grin

For my 2meals I had
L: roast salmon filled with ton of buttery green veg
D: creamy cauliflower mash with beef stew- which was sublime! (got a fatty brisket from the butcher, mushrooms, green peppers, green beans, beef stock), broccoli with butter

Have a good night everyone and a good day tomorrow!

BIWI · 26/01/2021 21:53

@cheeseisthebest I love the sound of your chicken traybake. Could you please give a recipe (or even better add to the recipe thread?) if you made it up an approximation is perfect.

@ouchmyfeet @BIWI re tonic, I generally avoid artificial sweeteners at all times (don't start me on the impact the sugar tax has had in ruining the taste of regular products! They are in everything now not just diet drinks) so I favour Fever Tree light tonic. It contains fructose so not zero carb and therefore when boot camping I only drink one at a time, however, for me personally that's better than sweetener. It has less than half the carbs of the regular version, but there is some research to show that fructose is worse than any other carbs for insulin resistance. We all tolerate things differently though and I found this works Ok for me, as long as in moderation.

Today, I had that weird feeling when I woke up - I felt thinner - only to find when I got on the scales that I was 2lb up on yesterday! Hopefully it means a woosh is on the way. Feeling a lot more positive today - it was just the coronacoaster yesterday 😁
L - slice ham, avocado, hm coleslaw and Mayo
D - marinaded chicken with roasted ts broccoli all cooked in coconut oil. Babybel later.

Almahart · 26/01/2021 22:03

@Lyrata I spotted those too! Quite a few could be easily made low carb I thought

Almahart · 26/01/2021 22:04

Or already are, obviously

AWryGiraffe · 26/01/2021 22:14

Uh oh. Pizza Express House Salad dressing. I remembered it from my keto days a few years back, it's 3.3G per 100ml. I do also add a dollop of full fat Mayo sometimes too it the salad toppings call for it.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 26/01/2021 22:32

Checking in with today's food. B 4 rashers streaky bacon, 2 fried tomatoes and 2 sticks celery with boursin. L pork scratchings. D bolognese made with zero carb pasta, 10 cal jelly with 2 tablespoons of Greek yoghurt. I did have a few squares of 85% choc.
Gone to bed now so I can keep my head out of the fridge!

ShagMeRiggins · 26/01/2021 22:39

Zigg did you mean to upload a photo?

ZiggZagg · 26/01/2021 22:48

Yes I did shag Blush

Oneborneverydecade · 26/01/2021 22:50

@nowlook I really struggle to think of any baked sweet things that I don't like which helps explain why I was 5st overweight Peppermint creams are a good idea though, from memory it's a bit like playdoh

@Bumbledee I hadn't considered gardening because the weather is so miserable but its a good idea, especially as we can walk to the garden centre

@Justcallmecaptainobvious well now I feel like a bit of a wally for not thinking of that! She absolutely could help me. My DH does all the cooking but no reason why we can't make soup etc

Here's my photo from Monday, I deliberately chose something tight fitting in the hope I'll see my belly go down (excuse the messy room)

I'm having a motivational struggle day today - am feeling, feeling, I don't know what I'm feeling but could do with bursting into tears probably.

@AthelstaneTheUnready maybe what you need is just to burst into tears. I did that yesterday. Something really disappointing happened, and I spent 3 hours in a complete stress, having imaginary sweary conversations in my head, getting myself more and more distressed. Then over dinner, when dh asked me a benign question, it all came out. Sobbing into my tea. Weeping, ranting. Phew! What a cathartic relief.

@JamMakingWannaBe I know what you mean, dh eats his lunch - usually some kind of unexciting sandwich, and looks wistfully at my left over veg with a fried egg: "that looks colourful and tasty". Yup!

Caught up with the thread and posting tomorrows food because I've got a busy day...

B - avocado salad
L - left over cheese and veg omelette
D - beef and mushroom stroganoff with sour cream, broccoli, green beans, cavolo nero

Veg box also had beetroot, so PILs will be getting a lovely carrot and beetroot soup, spiced up with ginger and horseradish cream.

nowlook · 27/01/2021 07:21

Morning all!

I've decided not to make ceviche. Bit worried about the freshness of supermarket fish.

But, in my research, I came across a Samoan version called Oka, which seems to be the same but with the addition of coconut milk/cream. Here's a sample recipe for all you coast-dwellers. I was planning to include avocado and coriander rather than tomatoes and peppers.

StuntNun · 27/01/2021 07:23

1stMrsF the research into the impact of fructose on insulin resistance is based on chronic fructose consumption. I don't think you can assume the same is true with occasional consumption. The major problem with fructose is that with high levels consumption (of table sugar, high fructose corn syrup or people that eat an excessive amount of fruit) it causes fat to be deposited in the liver which leads to insulin resistance, fatty liver (which is a form of visceral fat) and, eventually, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. I assume that an occasional G&T made with reduced sugar tonic such as Fever Tree won't be enough to cause these issues. I have cut out artificial sweeteners entirely because they seem to mess up my gut and cause cravings so I prefer the Fever Tree Refreshingly Light tonic water - note their other flavours such as the Mediterranean Refreshingly Light are higher carb than the plain version.

Bestbees · 27/01/2021 07:24

Checking in with food post.
Attempting 16:8.
L: chicken wings, salad, mayo
D: either slow cooked lamb breast with a cream sauce and flgv or sausages with roasted aubergine, fennel and courgette with green veg on the side.
