This Bootcamp has gone crazy! I'm very hopeful that means that the results on the scales/with the tape measure etc will have been positive.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this week. For so many, it's a total vindication as well as complete reassurance that this WOE really works!

I hope, very much, that the scales are kind to you and look forward to hearing everyone's progress.

Just sprouts microwaved in butter. The instruction include the technical term shoogling them half way through and the expression has stuck Grin

Thank you!

Hello to everyone again. I've been back on low carb since the beginning of Jan, after having a week or so being piggy over Christmas. I didn't dare weigh myself for a couple of weeks once back on the plan. I was 11st 9 at my lowest weight in December, and my eventual post Christmas weigh in was about 11'13 which could've been worse. Now I'm 11'8.5 which is my lowest in ages! This time my OH is now doing it too (obviously he's lost a nearly a stone in about a minute, hmph). I started in July at 12 stone 11lbs; so I'm pleased with my progress - happy scale app tells me I've lost 16.7 pounds - but impatient for more.

My first goal is to get to 11 stone, and will be buzzing when that happens.

Meal planning is key to no slip ups for sure. I'm veggie and end up cooking different variations for meat eating partner and 2 year old DD so lots of planning needed. Today was lunch - scrambled buttery eggs with butter and yellow pepper, and dinner stirfry with low carb veggie 'chicken strips' with egg fried cauli rice. I know processed foods aren't great but as a veggie, sometimes it's needed to avoid too many adaptations and they are low carb so I'm giving myself a break on that one.

Excited for this boot camp. Minimal outside temptations and Christmas is done so no excuses. Not missing anything sweet at all really.

My fave snacks. I don't often find I need a snack because I'm hungry, except for sometimes about 5pm, but these are the things that help me avoid chocolate late at night or crisps at cocktail hour!
Babybel
Decaf espresso with cream
liquorice tea
Olives
M&S Rollitos
M&S Pork crackling straws
Pickled cornichons
Slices of salami
M&S chorizo crisps
Cheesies or popped cheese
Also liking the idea of pate on cucumber and of course when actually hungry, there's not much can beat a hard boiled egg

Hello, @AWryGiraffe, and welcome! Gazillions of ideas here - either from posters, the spreadsheet, or the recipe threads sticked to the top of the bootcamp topic.

@venusandmars, that's very clever Grin

1lb off so into the 13s.

Today's food:

Scrambled eggs

A delicious salad of Halloumi, fried tomato, houmous and a bunch of salad leaves

Chicken leg roasted with chicken stock, garlic granules, harissa, onion salt, oregano and lemon 😋. With stir fried broccoli, green beans, pak choi, garlic and chilli.

Well done everyone who has lost this week and good luck for the coming week!

@52andblue

apologies if this has already been asked:

is there anything you can eat for a snack?

I am used to eating cheese and oatcakes if I am hungry in the evening

Or popcorn. Or dark choc. All of which are no good. (except cheese I guess but I thought unwise before bed re nightmares etc)

I get the answer is to get out of the snacking habit itself but whilst I wean myself off that, is there anything LCHF friendly to scoff please?

Cheese without the oatcakes?
Celery with cream cheese or pate Cucumber with cream cheese or pate Olives

@MarmaladeTeepee I've given blood regularly while low-carbing and not found it a problem. I drink all the water - and usually have some pork scratchings or nuts in my bag in case they seem necessary but so far, they have not been.

I make more effort with water the next day - and always feel that I deserve a juicy steak :)

MarmaladeTeepee · 26/01/2021 07:20

@1WayOrAnother2 thank you that's really helpful. Especially the steak idea Wink

MrsMcBoatface · 26/01/2021 07:28

3 lbs off for me and I'm delighted. I'm feeling great with more energy and my meals are luxurious. It's great inspiration to read this thread, thanks for all the meal ideas! I'm going to do the cauliflower cheese tonight. Bliss!

Bestbees · 26/01/2021 07:44

Morning all.

Fell into a tub of cottage cheese last night. Not even hungry so that was silly. Woke up hungry too so probably telling me to avoid dairy.

B eggs mashed with mayo in lettuce wraps
L salmon salad with mayo
D fish casserole.

Lot of water and no snacks!!

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 26/01/2021 08:26

Morning!

@venusandmars that is, hands down, one of the best poetry parodies I have ever read on here. What perfect scansion!

Lovely, restful sleep last night.

Today's plan:

B: creamy coffee, tea, yog & cream
L: halloumi with whatever veg we have left. (Food delivery tomorrow)
D: sausage casserole with various frozen veg (buttered)

Have a good day everyone

wanderlove · 26/01/2021 08:32

Weighed this morning as now six days and if I do six days next week will bring me in line with Monday weigh ins. Have gone from 11 stone 2 to 10 stone 11 3/4 according to my scales. I'm really pleased with it as is a 4 lb loss. I am really pleased to get under 11 stone as have been struggling to after having a baby last year. My target is 10 stone 3 which is my fighting weight. I'm in the right stone now which is great.

Also a bit tmi but I am always ahem regular going to the loo. The only downside so far is I seem a bit blocked up. I guess I normally eat a lot of fruit. Any tips what I can eat to become a bit more regular?

BIWI · 26/01/2021 08:36

@wanderlove - less frequency a) isn't a problem and b) will probably rectify itself shortly. It's only a problem if you're in pain or it hurts when you go.

Other than that, make sure you're eating plenty of vegetables, drinking all the water (and more!) and keeping your fat levels high

OP posts:
Ninkanink · 26/01/2021 08:39

You will find you generally need to go less on this WOE - there is less gunk in your system, and less waste as well. So unless you’re actually in pain, bloated or having a hard time going when you need to go, it isn’t a problem. Lots of veg for fibre, lots of fats, lots of water, should be all you need to do. However once in a while the odd person does suffer with actual constipation whilst learning the balance of what they need to eat to keep things moving and then I think you can take psyllium husks for it.

prettybird · 26/01/2021 08:41

Are you concerned because you're not going as often? Are you actually feeling blocked up? This WoE means that you often find that you don't need to go as often.

In my case, that can be 2 or 3 days apart! Shock

Keep your fluids and your fats up, as well as a FLGV.

Iirc, there is a technique involving eating some diabetic toffee in an emergency if you really are totally bunged up - but I've never had to do it Grin

Ninkanink · 26/01/2021 08:45

Oh yes sugar free sweets do the trick quite nicely I’ve heard! But that’s a slippery slope, and I, too, have never needed emergency measures.

NoraEphronsNeck · 26/01/2021 08:48

@Onelittlepiglet

Just discovered how to make cheese crisps which are fab with soup. I used a hard salty cheese which is like a cross between Parmesan and cheddar. I cut thin slices then fried in a dry frying pan until they bubbled and started to go brown. Then I used a knife to peel them off the pan and leave to cool. They worked really well! Photo attached - they look weird but taste great.
To the PP who said they struggled with what to have for breakfast (sorry I'm on my phone so tricky to scroll back). I reckon these cheese crisps with a fried egg would be delicious. Might even try to myself today.

@venusandmars

Tam Kerridge,

the sleekit cowrin tim'rous beastie
Tak the money and made a feastie
It did na start wi healthy veg
But low fat cream
He wad be lath to add some butter,
An ad man's dream

I'm truly sorry Tam's dominion
Ignores weel kent low-carb opinion
And opts for large sweet pickled onion
Which was on offer
A special twa fer one promotion
It fills his coffers

But mousie Tam, your getting fatter
Have ye forgot yer subject matter?
Avoid a' things that fry in batter
Dinnae eat bread
Yer aw wrong wi' your current patter
Low carb instead

(with apologies to The Scottish Bard - and to Tom Kerridge!)

Brilliant! Flowers

I was really irritated by his apparent conversion to low calorie dieting too - when he made it very public that he'd lost all his weight (11 stones?) through low carb eating.

Got a gurgling tummy after the haggis last night (although it was delicious). I really notice on this way of eating how quiet my tummy is, no wind, no gut noise, no distension... It doesn't take much excess carb in the form of oats / grains to alter that balance.

B - avocado and ham salad
L - thai green curry
D - vegetable and cheese omlette (green beans, cavolo nero, broccoli, shallot)

ListenLinda · 26/01/2021 08:51

Having an outbreak on bumming spots on my chin, booo.
Got a lovely steak for tea tonight, with a huge salad on the side.
Breakfast was a few spoonfuls of Greek yog.
Not sure about lunch yet, but there is bacon & eggs in the freezer!

ListenLinda · 26/01/2021 08:52

Oh heck autocorrect, blumming not bumming!
