Salut!

@BIWI I braved the celeriac and it was so sweet! Confused I need to add more spices to it I am not to fond of sweet foods during lunch/ dinner Grin

Today’s B: sausage and scrambled eggs
L: a mixed veg curry with celeriac as the star attraction, spinach, broccoli and garlic stir fried in butter and salmon in a mustard and cream sauce.
D: last night’s leftover pork with veggies stir fried with bare naked noodles

Bumbledee · 24/01/2021 17:04

@ChristMyArse I get your concern. I have a very old back injury which occasionally flares up and I always know the signs when it might!

My tingling sensations are nearly gone, I can feel it if I think about it. So hopefully all my salted food and water today has helped. I’ve ordered Zero electrolyte tablets on Amazon so that I don’t reach for the diarolyte again.

Brilliant!!

BIWI · 24/01/2021 17:11

Swede chips - I just cut it into chips and roast in the oven with lots of olive oil, salt and pepper. Sometimes chilli flakes. Turn them over/round a few times as well - probably will take around 30-40 minutes till they're done?

BrassicaBabe · 24/01/2021 17:31

Cottage pie made with celariac mash here for dinner 👍

Motivateinmotion · 24/01/2021 17:31

Another celeriac virgin here! So is it like swede as I love swede!

Today-
B- green yoghurt and cream
L- cucumber with butter and cheese, pork scratchings (something quick between snowman building)
D- Thai green chicken curry with coconut milk, Brussel sprouts, spring greens and mushrooms

prettybird · 24/01/2021 17:32

Swedes (aka more properly Wink neeps) take a surprisingly long time to cook.

Have them for breakfast, Bumbledee?

Athelstane I continue to be Shock at the bartering system that seems to occur in your world. I mean, today I traded some old turquoise nail polish for a bag of mixed sultanas, raisins, and I forget (some ingredients for Clootie Dumplings that MrShagMe will be making tomorrow as a Burns Night dessert, which I have no desire to eat). Point is, no one has ever randomly dropped a swede the size of my head, nor a whole pheasant, on my doorstep. Am agog.

As for radishes, nowlook, your mention of great radishes with butter and salt takes me back to one of the best courses I was ever served. I had no idea.

Fuck me, I love good food.

Jumped on the scales this morning and had whooshed 1.4lbs overnight Grin Not sure I'll hang onto that loss tomorrow morning, as I had a 3-mile hill walk to feed the sheep this afternoon and I'm inevitably up the day after, but on the plus side, the walk will have mitigated my lunch today a bit - got what I thought was homemade celeriac soup out of the freezer only to find when I started eating it that it was parsnip. Fortunately only about 300ml. Supper is chicken and FLGV.

prettybird · 24/01/2021 17:41

I took around a freshly baked loaf of sourdough and some "Elevator Lady Spice Cookies" to one set of friends to today and some of the cookies to another set of friends. I'd made a batch of the cookies for dh as he loves them and it's a while since I made them. Haven't had a single one myself though Halo

Ninkanink · 24/01/2021 17:48

Ahaha I forgot for a minute and thought to myself whilst reading the last highlighted comment, BIWI* really doesn’t sound like herself today...😆😆

Confusing, innit?! Grin

Never fear, your proper Miss will be along tomorrow with a shiny new thread for glorious Week 2 and—one hopes—a happy bunch of Campers.

It’s all good! Makes things that little bit more interesting!👍👍

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 24/01/2021 17:57

Well, I think you're a very good substitute teacher @ShagMeRiggins .

I mean, nobody's made you cry yet, have they?

How long have you been running the bootcamp @BIWI? I'm guessing a good while, as it's so well organised.

B: Yog with cream
L: Fried bacon and egg with mixed salad (with various veg)
D: Roast chicken, BC cauli cheese, kale

Lots of water, one coffee with cream & two cups of tea. (I have milk, but just have a tiny, tiny drop).

Justcallmecaptainobvious · 24/01/2021 18:03

I might do a top up shop at Waitrose tomorrow which I normally avoid because I spend a fortune there, apart from chopped celeriac (obvs) are there any other products anyone would recommend? Maybe a good salad dressing?

MrsOmelette · 24/01/2021 18:04

Well after 23 days of low carb I had a hungry/comfort eating day today. I think it was down to tiredness. Leftover bolognese for breakfast, mackerel and cheese salad at lunch then very quickly after had loads of Greek yoghurt. Roasted cauliflower for dinner. So I’m on top of it now but it’s been a long day and feeling a bit morose. KoKo though. Tomorrow’s plan - B mushroom & cheese omelette, L beef stir fry, D sausage cabbage and Neeps whilst family has haggis.

Barenaked noodles, that's what I meant the other day, not Udon!
Was about to post my food for today but realise I already had!
Just had dinner, first time in years we've had cabbage! Kids weren't keen! They do eat a lot of veg but hadnt tried cabbage before.

Bumbledee · 24/01/2021 18:12

I am a very savoury sort of person really. My breakfast is savoury too unless it’s a fruit or a croissant from a bakery. But right now they are not looking appetising!

StuntNun · 24/01/2021 18:36

So... much... pork... today! I had bacon, eggs (double yolkers) and mushrooms fried in butter for breakfast. The bacon was on its use by date so DH and I HAD to eat the whole pack between us. GrinThen gammon, celeriac and leek mash with steamed sugar snap peas and baby sweetcorn with melted butter poured over. The celeriac and leek mash was divine so thanks for that recommendation, BIWI. I have wall-to-wall meetings tomorrow so might not get time to eat so at least I've had a big dinner to keep me going. DH accused me of getting "hangry" on Friday but I hadn't eaten for 20 hours at that point so I take no responsibility for my ill temper!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 24/01/2021 18:38

Ta! And thanks for the warning, pretty.

I might try a swede dauphinois with some of the remaining 80kgs of it.

Shag, that's a good barter you had there. Ours tend to be more strung out in time, i.e. I gave swede person some help last year, log person got a chainsaw ages ago, egg lady is getting baby veg plants this Spring, etc.

I can heartily recommend giant swedes for fasting days, btw - I keep looking at it and thinking I'm not actually that hungry after all.

cheeseisthebest · 24/01/2021 18:41

StuntNun me too, bacon for breakfast and gammon for dinner!

Bestbees · 24/01/2021 18:46

Everything is moving so fast!

I have swede in my online shop and will get some celeriac next time I go to waitrose, which is our nearest supermarket. Both a blessing and a curse (££).

I had cauli cheese made with a sauce of cream cheese, cream and mustard and it was so Lovely that DH licked the dish! Stuffed as I finished off some yoghurt while the kids ate caramel viennetta. I am interested hearing the tweaks to your kids diets. Not sure I am doing so well there! Do try to encourage eggs over cereal for breakfast but might try shrinking carb portions. They all love a bit of butter or oil on their veg which might help!

LostaraYil · 24/01/2021 19:44

I had a seriously low carb roll with a fried egg for breakfast, not sure if that's allowed at the moment but I couldn't fit any more of the rolls in the freezer. It was great, and kept me going till 3pm. Ff Greek yogurt with cinnamon for lunch and pork shoulder and lots and lots of cauliflower cheese for dinner. I gave DH the recipe from the thread and it turned out very tasty, thanks! So much inspiration on here, I think I would just stick to a few meals otherwise and get bored so I really do appreciate it!

DulcetMoans · 24/01/2021 19:54

Just tried to post on the old thread, didn't notice it was full!

Not that I said much of importance. Mainly that I've been reading but not quite been able to jump in. The baby is trying to kill my with sleep deprivation but I've mostly managed to KOKO.

I got a swede in the veg box so good to see some suggestions.

B. Yoghurt with mixed spice
L. Like Thai veg - pok choi, broccoli, green beans in Thai spices.
D. Heck sausage and egg.

What happens with weigh in? It's my first time!

flossiegrippiter · 24/01/2021 20:07

Just tried cooking tofu like you get from a Chinese where it's all spongy and lovely, YouTube told me to freeze it then thaw it before shallow frying but it's come out hard on the edges and not spongy at all! Anyone know how to do this successfully?
