Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - the lucky 7

BIWI · 23/11/2020 08:58

... no idea why 7 is supposed to be lucky, but let's hope it is for us!

Here's the Spreadsheet

If you haven't visited the spreadsheet for a while, or really had a good look at it, can I suggest that you have a good browse of it now? There's lots of really useful information there.

Why do I suggest that? Because it's easy to get complacent or to lose enthusiasm this far into Bootcamp - but yet we still have 4 weeks to go, so it's important to hold your resolve.

Hopefully the scales (or your tape measure/favourite item of clothing) have been kind to you this week - but if not, have a think about why. Have you allowed carb creep? Have you been cheating? Have you slipped on the fat/water front?

Anyway, hopefully all is good, and here's to another positive week

Has anyone else been reading the really depressing thread from the poster who cannot lose weight, despite monitoring every single thing she's eaten for 9 months?

Did my Callenetics dvd yesterday and I ache this morning. Am going to have another go in a minute though Smile
Had salmon fried in butter for breakfast with salad, oily dressing and a spoon of hollandaise sauce. Also a satsuma, which I know isn't strictly allowed but I've been fancying one for weeks so now I've had it, I won't have more than the one. Dinner last night was a really nice spicy steak mince with veg and konjac rice. Am avoiding dairy for a few days as I feel there are same days where I eat quite a lot of it.
I put on a pound in the last couple of days - am hoping it's just water retention. Am sloshing now by trying to drink enough to shift it!

MrsKoala · 26/11/2020 11:54

Aaaargh I’m so fucked off. We are in tier 3 even tho we have really low numbers. Not for the first time do I want to tell Thanet to fuck off. Angry

I’m too pissed off to think about food today.

Coriandersucks · 26/11/2020 13:07

Ok thanks for the tips. I’m definitely not drinking enough water so adding that to my list.

Typical day since starting lo-carb is

B: black coffee
L: chicken breast with stir fry veg
D: chicken curry or mince chilli with cauliflower rice

I’ve read up the boot camp rules and I really don’t want to go back to 3 meals a day I feel like I did so well on the fasting and want to keep that up.

TMI but I’ve also been extremely constipated so hoping once my body adjusts things will get easier.

I also guess I have to ditch my glass of wine at weekends 😭

BIWI · 26/11/2020 13:09

@BuffyTheBuffetSlayer I'm so sorry to hear that news Sad

Make sure you look after yourself as well as your DP. Flowers

Also sounds like you're trying to do this low fat - you need to really ramp up the fat! That, as well as the water, will help with the constipation.

No need to add breakfast back in if you're already succeeding with fasting.

Coriandersucks have a look at the Diet Doctor website. Apart from lots of delicious easy recipes and inspiring yet real-life success stories, there’s also a bit I read today about constipation whilst on a low carb diet.

It’s an interesting read.

Takingontheundead · 26/11/2020 14:54

Days been manic, only managed to eat 2, dunno how I'll eat another meal in time to leave for work at 5!

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer condolences to your husband.

Same here Takingontheundead! I had a job interview at 1 and couldn’t even think of eating before as my stomach was in knots. It went ok I think. Ate lunch at about 2.30 and finished just in time for the school run. I would never have contemplated not eating for that long (since 6 last night) before this way of eating. But my mind was clear and I had plenty of energy. Messed up my yoga schedule though so will have to do that now with the kids as onlookers...

ZiggaZiggArrgggghhhh · 26/11/2020 20:23

Evening all, another busy day today Angry

L: Sliced beef on seriously low carb bread with lots of butter and a smidge of mustard.

D: Steak fried in Olive Oil and FLGV left over from my meal last night.

S: I whipped some double cream with almond butter and 1/2 tsp of xylitol.

And ALL THE WATER!!Grin

MrsKoala · 26/11/2020 22:03

Sorry to see your sad news @BuffyTheBuffetSlayer Flowers

I’ve been trying on old dresses and while I fit them I think they aren’t really right anymore - far too much chest and arm on show (h said I had too much armpit fat hanging over the straps and bingo wings - charming!).

Had pork chops, turnip mash and roasted green veg for dinner. Goats cheese and spinach omelette for lunch and granola, yogurt and blueberries for breakfast. I cheered myself up with 2 mojitos as well.

NotwatchingSpooks · 26/11/2020 22:33

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer I’m so sorry to hear that Flowers

Totalshambles · 27/11/2020 08:10

coriandersucks with you in terms of the constipation. I have struggled since the beginning. Drinking all the water and I eat sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower every day.
I tried psyllium husk in tablet form and also in baking bread and I will just say it didn’t help at all, it just made me feel like there was a dead weight low down in my gut. Very uncomfortable. Haven’t found a solution yet...

Totalshambles · 27/11/2020 08:11

Biwi quick question - our shopping has just arrived and annoyingly they have substituted high fat meat mince with a much leaner one. Should I just add some extra fat in while cooking? Isolating so can’t get out to shops to buy something else. Thoughts much appreciated.

prettybird · 27/11/2020 08:20

Totalshambles - I'd just cook it with plenty of olive oil/coconut oil.

Totalshambles · 27/11/2020 08:25

prettybird great thank you!

Mimosa1 · 27/11/2020 09:09

So sorry to hear your news buffy - what a ghastly shock for you all.

@NotwatchingSpooks I am a huge spooks fan! I'm working my way through the series during lockdown. I had watched and loved the first few then lost track, I'm now on season 7. I might have to change my username to "mad crush on Harry Pearse" lol. I hope the later seasons are good.

On track for a 200g loss this week if it stays over the weekend although I had a very bad food day yesterday. Almost no veg and ended up having breaded chicken and a fish finger type thing for dinner as I was ravenous and under prepared. Drinking lots of water today in the hopes it will shift!

Yep - just add plenty of fat when you're frying it to start with

NotwatchingSpooks · 27/11/2020 09:57

Morning all, well I seem to have had a bit of a whoosh, and have lost 2 lbs since Monday, after several weeks of staying the same. This means that my BMI is now 26.5, (at the start of boot camp I was Bmi 28) my goal is to get to a BMI of 25, (half way there) so for if you are feeling despondent as the scales are sticking KOKO.

Today
B Greek yogurt, Tsp double cream, 2 raspberries and heaped teaspoon of Linwoods
L veg soup with butter and some grated cheese
S 2 almonds about 4pm
D not sure yet, but will involve some kind of organic beef as have had a Organic beef box delivered and am keen to try it out

Lots of water, mainly drunk via a herbal lemon and ginger teaBag that I top up Regularly with hot water during the day,so it just gets weaker and weaker, til I treat myself 😀 with a new bag 😀

Finally for those suffering with constipation, I’ve found a teaspoon of Linwoods Flaxseed, pumpkin & Sunflower seeds mix (Carbs 3.8g per 100g) With 2 raspberries every morning on my Greek yogurt sorted me out

NotwatchingSpooks · 27/11/2020 10:00

Mimosa1 I do love Spooks, thanks for the comment as I may have to rewatch it, but actually I changed it for Halloween and like it so am not changing it back 😀

20bloodypounds · 27/11/2020 10:20

dh has a day off today and is driving me crazy. He's like a bored child looking for someone to entertain him. I've shut the door of my office and put headphones on so I can't hear him prattling on about whatever item he has read in the newspaper.

coffee with cream at 11am
L - left over moussaka
D - roast chicken, kale, green beans, fried mushrooms, a little bit of roasted carrot

That leaves me ready for a weekend of making chicken stock - part of my brexit freezer prepping.

Takingontheundead · 27/11/2020 11:39

Buffy Flowers thinking of you all.

Is anyone else inexplicably hungry?! Is it the sudden cold drop?

Breakfast at 8am 😳

Already feeling better after 2 days low carb (my restart after injury). Did day 2 C25K in the frost.

B Coffee with cream
L Egg scrambled in butter
D Rib eye steak with veg (probably cauliflower and courgettes)

Hope everyone has a good day.

EarlGreyHot · 27/11/2020 12:27

Feeling a bit fed up today. I seem to have put on the half a pound I lost last week despite not seeming to have done much differently! I am firing the water into me but to no avail Hmm
