Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - the lucky 7

BIWI · 23/11/2020 08:58

... no idea why 7 is supposed to be lucky, but let's hope it is for us!

Here's the Spreadsheet

If you haven't visited the spreadsheet for a while, or really had a good look at it, can I suggest that you have a good browse of it now? There's lots of really useful information there.

Why do I suggest that? Because it's easy to get complacent or to lose enthusiasm this far into Bootcamp - but yet we still have 4 weeks to go, so it's important to hold your resolve.

Hopefully the scales (or your tape measure/favourite item of clothing) have been kind to you this week - but if not, have a think about why. Have you allowed carb creep? Have you been cheating? Have you slipped on the fat/water front?

Anyway, hopefully all is good, and here's to another positive week

STS this week, even down to the bit after the decimal point. Possible reasons: (a) two spoonfuls of risotto on Saturday, (b) not enough vegetables, (c) a bit too much chorizo and salami. I've been religious about the water and am now getting close to 3.5 litres a day.

That said, I now have two pairs of jeans I can take off without undoing and, thusly emboldened, I've ordered the next size down from the Fat Face sale this morning Grin

20bloodypounds · 23/11/2020 14:09

0.8 off - phew! hoping it's the start of a decline again. Actually, doing more than just hoping, I'm sticking to the rules and drinking lots of water.

Coffee with cream at 11am
L - some kind of soup - the label had fallen off in the freezer, I think it was curried squash. Followed by left-over halloumi and veg curry. So curry, then curry Hmm
D - left over steak and kidney pie with buttered cabbage and spinach

Totalshambles · 23/11/2020 14:29

Up a pound when I weighed yesterday morning. Very annoyingly as don’t think I went off plan. I did cheat yesterday though and indulged in the food everyone else in the family was eating yesterday and enjoyed it without guilt. Back to boot camp strict today and hoping to see some change this week!

Oneborneverydecade · 23/11/2020 14:35

@poorbuthappy that's cool! We love Sex Education and Gillian Anderson. Please tell us your village, my husband and I comment on how lovely the area is every series

I sts which I'm not happy about but I am day 2 of totm

SomethingInTheWaySheCooks · 23/11/2020 15:27

I am still here! Hubby is doing really well. I am at maintenance but went up 2lb this week 🙈 Would someone be able to point me in the direction of the moussaka recipe we had on an earlier thread? I can’t find it on the spreadsheet.

poorbuthappy · 23/11/2020 15:52

@Oneborneverydecade - alas we aren't the lovely outdoorsy village they use more the indoorsy shots - pharmacies and take aways - they use our local village shop which closed down a few years ago.

They also use an ex further education college in Caerleon (just down road) for a lot of stuff. Local residents were getting annoyed with the disruption but as soon as they found out it was was for Netflix everyone shut up!
They are still there so will be dog walking as soon as 4.25 comes around and I finish work!

Oneborneverydecade · 23/11/2020 16:07

@poorbuthappy were supposed to be staying near Raglan mid Dec for my birthday. I'm wondering if we do an impromptu Sex Education tour whilst we're there?
You're so luck it's such a beautiful part of the world. I'm between London and Brighton so we have lovely countryside but it's mostly big town (getting bigger by the day) and big roads

ponygirlcurtis · 23/11/2020 17:18

Hello everyone, another STS for me - technically, a quarter of a pound up on last Monday but I have seen the scales dip a pound lower on two occasions - into the 11s, only just but still very exciting. My loss is still very very slow, trying not to get disheartened!

DS2 was sent home from school again today due to his cough that he's had since March, have just taken him for his 5th test. More time off work/school till the results come back. Siiiiiigh.

lurknolinger · 23/11/2020 17:40

0.2lbs off for me again this week, which is a bit frustrating as it's the second week to that's happened - but to be fair I've seen a weight 0.6lbs lower than that so it should come off again this week.
Will KOKO as I know what the alternative option will bring.
Well done to all the losers this week.

CowGurl · 23/11/2020 17:49

2 lbs down this week. 11.5 in total. Very pleased with that.

The scales oscillated +/- 1lb for most of the week which was frustrating but did a little whoosh on Sunday.

Am still surprised with just how comfortable I am on this WOE. I tend to eat the same thing for a few days at a time. Last week it was a chipotle version of the cheeseburger pie, this week is Nigella's beef casserole but with celariac and without the flour.

Congratulations to everyone for sticking with it! KOKO.

It's quite normal for your weight to fluctuate! You'll drive yourself mad if you believe you can stick to an exact weight all the time, honestly.

The moussaka recipe will be on the meat recipe thread (stickied at the top of the Bootcamp topic)

I am delighted today because after a month of staying the same weight, I've had a 4lb whoosh.

And I have officially dropped two sizes from an 18 to a 14 (in exact same pair of jeans from Next, at least). I bought an 18 in May, a16 in August and the 14 have arrived today and they fit Smile

SomethingInTheWaySheCooks · 23/11/2020 19:44

@BIWI - I know you are right! I still can’t find the moussaka recipe. I’ve looked at all the tabs on the spreadsheet. I can’t see one entitled Meat. I’ve found it listed as an idea under Meal Ideas, but no link to the recipe. What am I missing?

SomethingInTheWaySheCooks · 23/11/2020 19:46

@BIWI I’ve found it, sorry!

No worries!

(And just in case, the recipes aren't on the spreadsheet - they're on the board here, in the main Bootcamp topic)

@noraephronsneck well done! You've given me a ray of hope when I feel like I've stalled. I bet you're rocking those size 14s

Thanks, they are 'snug' to say the least but they're on and the zip is up Grin

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 23/11/2020 20:56

Feel like I've eaten loads today and am feeling guilty. Although I don't count calories, I'm still trying not to go overboard with huge meals, since presumably there does have to be some deficit in order to lose. B was bacon with fried mushrooms and courgette with boursin. L was 3 rollitos and 2 slices of corned beef and 2 squares of dark choc. D was 2 meat free burgers (5g carb) fried tomato and courgette, again with boursin.
Have had loads of liquid though. Really want to see a 10 on the scale before Christmas!

ZiggaZiggArrgggghhhh · 23/11/2020 21:29

I said no excuses, so here goes Shock

Lunch was crustless quiche, tea was 100g roasted peanuts (I know Sad) 2 sticks of celery, a tsp peanut butter and a punnet of blueberries. Could have been worse I suppose, but I've drank all the water and have meals prepared for tomorrow.

Lyrata · 23/11/2020 21:52

I also feel like I’ve eaten a lot today, MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously!

Breakfast was a creamy coffee plus two large eggs scrambled with feta
Lunch was creamy cauliflower soup
Dinner was meant to be chicken thighs and a mega tray of roasted vegetables but then I ate the chicken thighs first because the vegetable tray was overloaded and cooking slowly - felt grumpy about my plain vegetabls and then added more feta to that.

So a lot of dairy today!

Mimosa1 · 23/11/2020 22:13

Wow @NoraEphronsNeck , well done on sticking with it through the stall. You deserve that woosh!

Food today:

B - 2 tiny slices of low carb bread with cream cheese and cucumber slices and a handful of raspberries

L - chicken soup

S - 3 sq of dark choc

D - aubergine, paneer and spinach curry and a tangerine.

Not strictly low carb but I've got a dreadful headache and sore throat and generally feeling lousy and was craving fruit.

Curious to hear if anyone has mini goals they'd like to share to get to the end of this BC? Another 1.5 Kgs would be glorious on my end, if possible, bringing me nearly out of the 150s into the 140s, and/or being able to DJ up a pair of moleskin black trousers of mine.

prettybird · 23/11/2020 22:25

Before I take them to a charity shop, would anyone on here like a pair of never worn Tu black skinny jeans in a Size 16 Long? For the cost of postage (think it would be c.£2.85 2nd class).

Just come across them while doing a tidy up: bought them years ago and never got round to taking them back.

Also found a loaf of brand new bras that I didn't take back Blush I'm going to have a trying on session tomorrow to see if there are any I could keep.

WitchWand · 23/11/2020 22:33

Very kind gesture prettybird !
Won't be ok for me. But, just popping on to check out your bra loaf. Is that an even newer version of the low carb bread ? Grin

prettybird · 23/11/2020 22:34

Mimosa1 - my next mini goal is to to get below 11st 7lb Smile So another 2.75lb.

It so happens that that is also my main Boot Camp Goal as it's where I got to last Christmas. Xmas Smile

If I could get lose a few more pounds than that I'd be delighted as that would be close to where I'd got to Christmas 2018 - but I'm trying to be realistic Xmas Wink After all, I've already lost 15.5lb this Boot Camp.

I have a series of goals after Christmas. I turn 60 next April and I'd like to be down to at least 10st 7lb / into a normal BMI.
