Morning all.

Sorry if you're chomping at the bit to announce your loss this morning!

Here's the spreadsheet

Some great losses already posted, so well done.

But don't despair if you haven't lost as much as others. Remember, this isn't a competition. We're all here with different startpoints, and everyone loses at a different rate anyway.

@biwitched it definitely is a habit, you're right and I should stop it, this is boot camp after all! (And if my willpower goes then I have the olives!)

Rayna37 · 23/10/2020 18:25

Just caved and booked our favourite restaurant for tomorrow so send some willpower my way to dodge the truffle and Parmesan chips! First time there with the toddler in tow and I'll drive, so no wine at least.

VeryLittleOwl · 23/10/2020 18:25

We do Bolognese omelette sometimes, ditto chilli omelette, it's great for leftovers. Love the idea of making a lasagne using thin omelettes, that's genuis!

Supper has turned out to be homemade chicken and vegetable kebab skewers plus salad :)

NSV today, my wedding and engagement rings, which for the past few months have only come off my finger with the aid of soap and water when I've needed to remove them for making biscuits for the cottage guests, now slide off a dry finger without too much difficulty.

Burnshersmurfs · 23/10/2020 18:59

VeryLittleOwl me too! I finally managed to get the last of the rings off! NSV happy days!

Oneborneverydecade · 23/10/2020 19:02

@turnedouttoes I think in fairness my expectations were too high. I went a couple of weeks ago on a rainy day and we walked straight in and then almost straight onto any ride. This time it was busy; we queued to get in, only went on a couple of rides (some had wait times over an hour) and it rained unexpectedly. Even my 8yo commented it seems run down compared to Legoland

Thank you @stuntnun I'm hoping it'll be a while before I return but I won't worry if I don't have a picnic when I do

Oneborneverydecade · 23/10/2020 19:03

I wish I could say the same; my engagement ring was still uncomfortably tight this morning. I haven't tried it on in years

Totalshambles · 23/10/2020 19:23

Looking for cauliflower related help. Love it but always find it tastes grim the next day - whichever way it’s been cooked; made into mash, roasted, as rice, etc. It just takes on a weird flavour? Maybe I just need to only cook one portion at a time (only one eating it in the house).

Also is the odd Diet Coke ok from Monday? Am missing that!!

SpookyTheGhoulfriendScarer · 23/10/2020 19:34

As the mackerel will already be cooked, all you're wanting to do is to heat it through. So I'd cook the zoodles and at the last minute of cooking add the mackerel.

Thanks BIWitched. I've always ate it out the tin as a snack so wasnt sure how best to add it to a hot dish. I ended up making the zoodles first then set aside, then fried the mackerel with a little soy and ginger for a couple minutes then mixed it in with the zoodles. It was surprisingly really nice.

SpookyTheGhoulfriendScarer · 23/10/2020 19:34

Sorry meant to tag @BIWitched

Midlifemission · 23/10/2020 20:59

Burnshersmurfs and VeryLittleOwl
That’s a great NSV about your rings and one of my goals too. I am hoping for this too.

Love the sound of bolognese omelette do I need a recipe ?

Small victory today I had to be up and out this morning and had half a pot of Ff Greek
Yoghurt and wasn’t hungry at all until lunchtime - although we did eat lunch quite early . Interesting to realise I could quite happily manage on so little - it may be quite liberating !

Half term has started here but nothing planned will derail me ! Kids had pizza for tea but I totally don’t care !

fizzfridays · 23/10/2020 22:16

@Superspecs @plumstone @Midlifemission it was nothing fancy, just made a plain 2 egg omelette then when nearly cooked through added some left over bolognese I'd nuked in the microwave and folded it over.

I served with a nice oily rocket and cucumber salad. Really filling! Using omelette sheets to make lasagne is a brilliant idea, I think it would work perfectly! I'm tempted to make another batch of sauce tomorrow so I can give it a go over the weekend.

Congrats on the ring nsvs @VeryLittleOwl and @Burnshersmurfs

Hopeislost · 23/10/2020 22:21

Bologna's omelette sounds lovely!

I bought a sweetheart cabbage to make coleslaw but it's been so cold today I fancied something hot, so I made roasted cabbage wedges instead. It was so tasty! I've never been a fan of cabbage due to having boiled cabbage as a kid but it's so much nicer roasted!

ponygirlcurtis · 23/10/2020 22:28

Happy Friday evening all. I have made it through the working week and I have stuck to it absolutely and drunk loads of water (some near misses making it to the loo in time too! Bloody ageing bladder). Got plans to make the burger pie thingy and a chicken thigh tray bake over the weekend so I will be set up for the week ahead.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Summery1 · 23/10/2020 23:49

Hi folks. Looks like we're all pootling along. We've gone into complete lockdown here, so no swimming or cycles. Or restaurants. I'm a little envious when someone mentions a yoga class or going out to eat. 'This too shall pass'.
This morning I had a recipe from the list. I eat eggs most mornings, so today I tried the muffin-scotch egg, from the recipes. I lined 3 muffin trays with sausage meat. Baked for 10minutes. Then lined them with spinach, dropped in an egg, and topped with grated cheddar, and baked about 5 more minutes. Delish. I made 3, but I'm sure they'd travel well if needed, so next time I might do more.

L: Brussels sprouts with salmon. (Overcooked the sprouts, but they were ok)
D: Steak and cabbage.
S: Greek yogurt.
Water, water, water.

tea69 · 24/10/2020 00:08

Carb porn made me laugh!

Grin

I ate today -

Eggs and almond milk coffee
Chicken leg, veg, more coffee. There was wine at work at lunchtime but I resisted
Lamb and salad for dinner

Have a good weekend everyone Smile

EarlGreyHot · 24/10/2020 06:39

Loving the NSVs and all the other little victories - well done everyone

I'm feeling good about resisting snacks last night... in fact I didn't even feel the urge. Although I did have a near miss when I was making the kids popcorn for movie night and mindlessly grabbed a handful to scoff. I'd have been so cross with myself if I hadn't realised in time!

B - Greek yoghurt and splash of cream, pot of coffee
L - chicken meatza with jalapeños, sliced chorizo and passata, salad with olive oil and red wine vinegar
D - turkey chilli with cheese and sour cream, salad leaves.
Lots of water and some tea.

Actually typing that out it's obvious that I had very little veg other than salad leaves and the onion and pepper in the chilli. Will aim for more today Halo

prettybird · 24/10/2020 08:39

Dad was over last night to watch the Scotland-Georgia (we're a "bubble", so he's allowed Smile). Dh and he had poppadoms, Lidl curry and naan bread washed down with Cava, followed by more of my home made ice cream and Maltesers, rounded off with coffee and some tablet Shock

I had a big bowl of shoogled sprouts, with water Halo

What's more, I enjoyed them and didn't feel the need to share Wink Even the ice cream, which I love (made with a tin of condensed milk Shock) didn't tempt me: I know how to make it, I know what it tastes like, there will be future occasions when I might choose to enjoy a small portion mindfully but only once I've learnt what my "maintenance" is Smile

Dad made a comment if "starving myself made me cranky" - he doesn't get that this WoE is not about being hungry Hmm He even told me to leave the room so that he could ask dh Grin (But he is still supportive even if he doesn't understand - his meal tomorrow night will try to accommodate me).

CeibaTree · 24/10/2020 08:57

Hope everyone has had a good week, and those who have been feeling rubbish are feeling better. I have finally caught up with this thread and the first one - they are so fast moving with so much good advice :)

Has anyone's cycle been strange since they started? - I am usually as regular as clockwork, but my period came 3 days early today. Could this be something to do with strict low carbing, or just weight loss in general?

Have a great weekend all!

20bloodypounds · 24/10/2020 09:14

ceiba tree I think that with a normal carb diet your cells store glycogen and water which also holds on to oestrogen. Or maybe it's the fat that holds oestrogen? Either way, some of the hormone gets released so normal cycles can be affected. disclaimer: I'm post menopausal so haven't paid much attention to period discussions

B - creamy coffee, stir fry cabbage, ham
L - left over kedgeree with buttery spinach
D - I think probably duck, in a Chinese 5 spice rub with oriental veg.

Totalshambles · 24/10/2020 09:23

*CeibaTree that’s happened to me before. Have found its really helped with general pms symptoms. However seems to have messed me up this time as several days late. But maybe I need a full month of this woe for my body to get used to it.

Feeling pretty pleased with myself as managed to make a pudding yesterday and a choc cake this morning without so much as a lick of the bowl!

Totalshambles · 24/10/2020 09:24

(Didn’t manage the asterisk tip...)

prettybird · 24/10/2020 09:35

Totalshambles - you need to put an asterisk at both ends of the name Smile

StuntNun · 24/10/2020 09:37

CeibaTree that can happen with any weight loss since oestrogen is stored in fat cells and released when you lose body fat. It can cause periods in people with an implant/coil, return of periods in peri/post-menopausal women, mid-cycle spotting/bleeding, and affect the length or your menstrual cycle. It will settle down within a cycle or two as your body produces less oestrogen to compensate. If anyone who is post-menopausal finds their periods return unexpectedly then continue rather than stopping again, that needs to be investigated as it can be a sign of ill-health.

CeibaTree · 24/10/2020 09:45

Thanks everyone - sounds like it's nothing to worry about then. Hopefully things will settle down next cycle as I am hoping to restart TTC once bootcamp is over - my primary motivation for weight loss is for fertility reasons 🤞

PurBal · 24/10/2020 09:51

@mimosa1 it happened, she picked up the ingredients for risotto 😂
